9 best denture material

Denture materials are used in the fabrication of dentures, which are removable dental prosthetic devices designed to replace missing teeth and surrounding tissues. Dentures are crucial for restoring a person's ability to chew, speak, and maintain facial aesthetics. Various materials are used in the construction of dentures, each with its own set of advantages and disadvantages. Here are some commonly used denture materials:

  1. Acrylic Resin: Acrylic resin is one of the most common materials used for making the base of dentures, which is the part that rests on the gums. It's lightweight, relatively inexpensive, and can be color-matched to the patient's natural gum tissue. However, acrylic dentures may be less durable than other materials and can be prone to chipping or breaking.

  2. Porcelain: Porcelain is often used for the artificial teeth in dentures. Porcelain teeth are highly durable, resistant to staining, and have a natural appearance. However, they can be more brittle than acrylic teeth and may wear down natural teeth if not properly aligned.

  3. Cobalt-Chromium Alloy: This metal alloy is used in the framework of partial dentures. It's strong, lightweight, and corrosion-resistant. Cobalt-chromium alloy can provide a stable and secure fit for partial dentures while remaining relatively thin and unobtrusive.

  4. Flexible Denture Material: Flexible denture materials, often made from thermoplastic resins, provide a more comfortable and flexible option for partial dentures. They are less likely to break or cause discomfort than rigid materials. These materials can be a suitable choice for patients with irregular gum shapes.

  5. Hybrid Denture Materials: Some modern dentures combine different materials, such as acrylic and metal, to create hybrid dentures. These offer a balance between durability, aesthetics, and comfort.

  6. Dental Polymers: Dental polymers, including materials like polyethylene and polypropylene, are sometimes used in the fabrication of removable dentures. They are known for their flexibility, lightness, and comfort.

  7. Zirconia: Zirconia is a ceramic material used for the framework of some types of dentures. It is strong, durable, and biocompatible. Zirconia dentures can be a good option for patients who desire a more esthetic and metal-free solution.

The choice of denture material depends on factors like the patient's oral health, budget, aesthetic preferences, and the recommendation of the dentist or prosthodontist. Denture fabrication involves a careful process of taking impressions, creating models, and customizing the dentures to fit the patient's unique needs. Regular maintenance and adjustments may be required to ensure the longevity and comfort of dentures.

User questions & answers

Question: Please, I need a good glue, some advices
Answer: Hi! My hubby placed one tooth on a partial. He used gorilla glue... hope this helps!
Question: how do you keep them in your mouth? what do you use to affix them or multiple teeth
Answer: They don’t clip on. They are solid. I used them to make a makeshift crown for the one I lost. I used these teeth and a small grinder to fit them to my mouth, and then affixed the missing one to a molded plate I made with dental beads. Worked wonderfully and no one can tell the difference.
Question: Do they clip on your teeth? If you’re missing teeth how do they work
Answer: No, they will not stay in place. My brother trashed his because he wasn't sure how to get them to stay in place. If you have a tooth still in place next to the missing tooth look for, "Polly Plastics Moldable Plastic Pellets." It is a mold. You have to use hot water, and be quick. But it stays into place! Also, when you are ready to remove the mold, you have to make it hot, to remove it. Out of everything my brother has tried, this has worked the best.
Question: I have other missing teeth. Will these stay in? What do I use to secure them in
Answer: Hi Emib, Thanks for your question. You may find related information (MSDS) by visiting our website: https://www.applylabwork.com/material-safety-data-sheet/ ApplyLabWork

User questions & answers

Question: The directions on the box say for temporary use only but all the people say they've used the recliners for years and years which one is the truth? also is one better than the other? thanks, kat
Answer: Hi Kay, Although our products last a long time in the Denture, the FDA advises the use of over-the-counter denture reliners as temporary until you can see your dentist. As far as which denture reliner is better, Perma Soft or ProSoft, that depends on the preference of the individual using the product. Perma Soft lasts several months to two years in the Denture and is a firm Reline, whereas, the ProSoft Denture Reline kit is softer and more flexible reliner.
Question: Can this liner be removed if not satisfied
Answer: Yes. I usually just let the denture soak in hot water and the liner can be removed quite easily.
Question: Are there any special hint and tips that must be used?? i'm looking for simplicity and ease.. is this an easily prepared and applied product?? thanks
Answer: AS A 68 YEAR OLD I'VE BEEN A DENTURE WEARER FOR YEARS. USED CUSHION GRIP THERMOPLASTIC ADHESIVE FOR DENTURES SINCE 1981UNTIL 2014 WHEN IT DISAPPEARED ALL SO QUICKLY FROM THE PHARMACY SHELVES AND EBAY/AMAZON SELLERS DECIDED TO SELL THE PRODUCT FOR OVER $200.00 FOR A SMALL ONE OUNCE TUBE. AFTER CUSHION GRIP REACHED ITS $50.00 A BOX I HAD TO STOP PURCHASING IT, BECAUSE MY SOCIAL SECURITY CANNOT AFFORD IT ANYMORE. HAD TO RESORT TO OTHER PRODUCTS LIKE THIS ONE HERE. NOTHING NOTHING WORKED THE WAY CUSHION GRIP DID. IT HAD NO TASTE OR BURN AND IT LASTED ME OVER TWO WEEKS WITH ONE LITTLE GLOB. OTHERS LIKE ME HAVE BEEN SEARCHING FOR SOMETHING SIMILAR AS WELL A THERMOPLASTIC DENTURE ADHESIVE. LAST MONTH MY FRIEND WHO ALSO WEARS DENTURES FOUND A PRODUCT THAT SAYS IT'S A REPLACEMENT FOR CUSHION GRIP SO SHE ORDERED A TUBE ONLINE ON THEIR WEBSITE, SINCE THEY ARE VERY NEW AND DO NOT HAVE VERY MANY STORES CARRY THIS PRODUCT JUST YET. MY FRIEND ABSOLUTELY LOVES IT AND HAD GIVEN ME THE INFORMATION TO ORDER IT, SO I DID. MY FIRST TUBE CAME IN TWO WEEKS AGO AND WHILE IT STATES IT LASTS UP TO SEVEN DAYS IT LASTED ME FIVE. IT'S NOT AS GOOD AS CUSHION GRIP BUT IT'S DARN NEAR CLOSE ENOUGH TO IT!!! THE ONLY THING THAT I HAVE FOUND THAT WORKS FOR MORE THAN A DAY AND DOESN'T GET SLIMY LIKE PASTE ADHESIVE. THEIR WEBSITE IS WWW.COMFORTLINING.COM THE PRODUCT IS CALLED COMFORT LINING THERMOPLASTIC DENTURE ADHESIVE YOU HEAT IT IN A TUBE IN HOT WATER WITH VERY EASY INSTRUCTIONS THEN LET IT SIT AFTER YOU PLACE IT ON YOUR DENTURE. THERE IS ALSO VIDEOS ON HOW TO USE IT ON THEIR WEBSITE, I'VE POSTED A PICTURE BELOW NO TASTE OR BURNING EITHER. WWW.COMFORTLINING.COM
Question: do they get hot during the application
Answer: The material is epoxy based and does warm up. I put them in my mouth after spreading the material. It is not hot, just warm. The taste is like any dental mold, yucky and it rinses out. This liner lasts longer than what I got at my dentist.

Answer: Because it eliminates odors, it says it eliminates flies and skunk since there are no odors in the trash can.

Answer: With several sprayings over days, we were able to eliminate the horrible odors that was caused when we had a freezer that went out for an extended period and meat items had rotted.
Question: Does this work when trying to fill a gap for top front teeth
Answer: I sent it as a gift. I haven't heard anything about how it works.
