8 best mounted take up block bearings

A mounted take-up block bearing, also known as a pillow block bearing, is a type of bearing unit that consists of a housing (or block) and a bearing. It is used to provide support and secure the rotating shaft of a machine, typically in industrial applications where power transmission is involved.

Here are some key points about mounted take-up block bearings:

  1. Housing (Pillow Block): The housing, often referred to as a pillow block, is a robust and usually rectangular structure that supports the bearing and is bolted to a surface. It is designed to be sturdy and easily mountable.

  2. Bearing: The bearing within the housing is the component that supports the shaft and allows it to rotate smoothly. The bearing is crucial for reducing friction and facilitating efficient movement of the shaft.

  3. Purpose: Mounted take-up block bearings are used to support rotating shafts in various industrial applications, such as conveyor systems, agricultural equipment, mining machinery, manufacturing equipment, and more.

  4. Installation: These bearings are installed within the housing (pillow block), and the assembly can be easily mounted onto a frame, machine structure, or other support surfaces.

  5. Adjustable Positioning: One of the advantages of take-up block bearings is their adjustable positioning within the housing. This feature allows for easy alignment and tensioning of the bearing to accommodate changes in shaft length or position.

  6. Lubrication: Proper lubrication is essential to ensure the longevity and smooth operation of the mounted take-up block bearing. Lubricants reduce friction and prevent wear and tear on the bearing components.

  7. Materials and Variations: These bearings are available in various materials, including cast iron, steel, stainless steel, and thermoplastics. The choice of material depends on the specific application and environmental conditions.

  8. Sealing and Protection: Bearings in mounted take-up block units often come with seals or other protective features to prevent contaminants, moisture, and debris from entering the bearing and causing damage.

  9. Load Capacity: The design and size of the bearing determine its load-bearing capacity, ensuring it can withstand the applied radial and axial loads while maintaining proper functionality.

Mounted take-up block bearings play a crucial role in maintaining the smooth operation and efficiency of machinery by supporting and guiding rotating shafts, thus making them a fundamental component in various industrial and mechanical systems.

User questions & answers

Question: If my shaft is 1.06" will it still fit this? i know it says " 1" bore" but what is the true bore
Answer: It is exactly 1.000". You have a 1 1/16" shaft and would need to machine the shaft to fit or find a bearing that size.
Question: What’s the over all stance of the bearing what’s the stick out

Product description

The UCP204-12 pillow block mounted bearing with a 3/4" inside diameter, two bolt holes, and a set screw lock is designed for mounting onto bearing surfaces parallel to the shaft axis, such as conveyor belts.

This ready-to-mount unit has a cast iron housing, chrome steel bearings, and is designed for efficient operation at a wide range of speeds.

The bearing has a dynamic (radial) load rating of 12.8 kN and a static (axial) load rating of 6.65 kN.

This one-piece pillow block housing allows for a stationary outer ring and rotating inner ring.

The bearing is secured to the shaft with set screws to prevent slippage and the housing requires two 3/8” bolts (sold separately).

This mounted bearing is used in industrial manufacturing, food and beverage manufacturing, and in the textile industry.

Mounted bearings combine a bearing mounted inside a housing unit.

The bearing housing replaces the need for a casting or weldment to position the bearing securely for reliable operation, and its design determines the type of insert bearing.

Insert bearings use rolling elements (ball, cylindrical, spherical, barrel, needle, spindled, or tapered) to maintain the separation between moving parts to reduce rotational friction, and to support radial and axial loads.

Available in a variety of materials and mounting configurations, mounted bearings can be one- or two-piece, they can have an extended inner ring and locking device, and they can have seals and end caps that retain lubrication and protect the working parts of the bearing from environmental debris.

Mounted bearings support shafts in a variety of mounting configurations (flange block, hanger, pillow block, and take-up block), and are used in a range of applications from light duty shaft guidance on conveyors to road building equipment and crushers.

User questions & answers

Question: Im curious will a 3/4 pvc sc 40 pipe that has a OD of 1.05 fit in this i believe its also a 1.05 so idk someone chime in for me
Answer: You sure can lose those rear spacers with this springs your yukon will sit level perfectly I would recommend u replace the spring coil seats (MOOG Part # K160072) I looked it up for u here...this will be exactly what u need and no longer need the rear spacers. Have a good one man.
Question: What size of grease fitting (zerk) fits this pillow bearing? I purchased these prior and one of the zerks has been lost
Answer: Lift the rear at the frame on both sides until the tires hang, put floor jack under rear diff, remove tires, lower shock mounts, and lower swaybar mounts. Lower jack under rear diff and springs should slip on out without any issues. I was able to put in new springs and 1 inch spacers on my '03 z71 Tahoe without the need of a spring compressor. If you have any difficulty, put another floor jack under one side of your diff and lift it a little. This will cause the other side to drop a little more. Make sure your springs are seated straight before jacking up center of your diff to reinstall shock and swaybar mounts. Also recommend getting new spring isolators.
Question: What is a bearing that is not self aligning called? fixed? gr? i want the outer race to be fixed to the housing and not floating
Answer: Absolutely, just installed these on my 2008 H2. Maintained the factory ride height much to my chagrin as I wanted to lower the rear a tad to gain clearance to enter my garage while still running the factory roof racks.
Question: The cast iron pillow blocks I received are not square to the bearings. Is this intentional
Answer: No. It is the regular Pex crimp fitting

User questions & answers

Question: What is The over all width of the mounting base please
Answer: That would depend upon the diameter and length of the specific rods you ordered and upon the means by which they're mounted on your cart. If the rods are attached to the cart by their ends and to a single wheel in the middle, then you should expect some nasty destruction before all is over. If, on the other hand, you can keep all the strains in shear by situating your rod mounts immediately adjacent to the wheel(s), then you stand a far better chance of making it work. It would be a travesty to use rods like this for sucha purpose, though, unless you have a most excellent reason to use highly precise, extremely straight, and finely polished rods as axles. Hint: there are exceedingly few good reasons in this world to do that. Chances are very good that you would do a fine job with some nasty stick of galvanized round rod you found in the alley behind your own local hardware store.
Question: are these for a 1" diameter shaft? will a 1" diameter rod fit in the hole
Answer: You can thread them all day long with a lathe if you like, but first you have to remove the chrome (chemically or with abrasives) and anneal the section of the rod that you need to thread. Otherwise, you'll need to grind the threads with silicon carbide or diamond.
Question: will this work as go kart axle bearings
Answer: Thans for your question. We check it again, it is indeed our mistake. Its straightness number should be straightness be below 5μm/100mm. We have upated this data on our page.
Question: What’s the measurement between the mounting holes
Answer: On the picture is the product display. The actual delivery length is 400mm

User questions & answers

Question: Bearing not straight in housing. Anyone find this
Answer: Most pillow block bearings allow for slight misalignment by swiveling in the housing. as long as the bearing is not loose enough to flop around or fall out this is perfectly normal.

User questions & answers

Question: The dimensions shown here do not make sense. i.e. - 95mm is not 4 3/4" etc. which one is right? mm or inches
Answer: I’m not at home to measure the block, but I’d say 4 3/4” is about correct for the overall width, not 95mm.
Question: What is the max rpm
Answer: There was no MDS or white paper delivered with the blocks, so I cannot confirm. My application was for a low rpm project. The steel bearing in the pillow block seems to be fairly decent quality, but likely not to exceed 5000 rpm
