Answer: These are not a single direction type bearing, must be a misinterpretated typo. These are a three piece bearing set that must have the clearance set by user. My application is an adjustable plasma cutter torch radius guide, works great, very smooth operation.

Answer: Single direction means it can handle a single load direction. For example, a thrust bearing can handle a flat load such that the ball bearings are being sandwiched in between two flat surfaces. This is contrary to an axle bearing where the ball bearings are being forced against an inside race by a load on the outside of the radius of the bearing.
