13 best radiation glasses
Radiation glasses, also known as lead glasses or radiation protective eyewear, are specialized eyeglasses designed to provide protection against ionizing radiation. They are primarily used in environments where individuals are exposed to radiation, such as medical facilities, dental clinics, and industrial settings. Here is some important information about radiation glasses:
Radiation Protection: Radiation glasses are specifically engineered to shield the eyes from harmful ionizing radiation, such as X-rays and gamma rays. These glasses contain lead or other heavy metals within the lenses to absorb and block radiation.
Medical and Dental Use: In medical and dental settings, radiation glasses are commonly worn by radiologic technologists, radiologists, dentists, and dental assistants who work with X-ray machines and other diagnostic imaging equipment. They are essential for protecting the eyes from the potentially harmful effects of radiation exposure.
Industrial Applications: Radiation glasses are also used in various industrial applications where workers may be exposed to radiation sources, such as nuclear power plants, research facilities, and industrial radiography. These glasses help safeguard workers' eyes when handling radioactive materials or performing radiographic inspections.
Lens Types: Radiation glasses come in different lens types, including prescription and non-prescription options. Prescription radiation glasses can be customized to an individual's vision needs while providing radiation protection.
Frame Styles: Radiation glasses are available in various frame styles and sizes to accommodate different face shapes and preferences. Some designs are lightweight and comfortable for extended wear, while others offer a more snug fit for added protection.
Regulations and Standards: Depending on the region and industry, there may be specific regulations and standards governing the use of radiation protection eyewear. Compliance with these regulations is essential for ensuring the safety of individuals working in radiation-prone environments.
Maintenance: Proper care and maintenance of radiation glasses are crucial for their effectiveness and longevity. Regular inspections, cleaning, and adherence to manufacturer guidelines are essential to ensure that the glasses continue to provide adequate protection.
Lead Equivalency: Radiation glasses are often rated in terms of lead equivalency, which indicates how effectively the lenses block radiation. Higher lead equivalency ratings offer greater protection.
Radiation glasses play a critical role in safeguarding the vision and overall health of individuals working in environments where ionizing radiation is present.Choosing the appropriate pair of radiation glasses, ensuring compliance with safety regulations, and following proper maintenance procedures are essential steps in protecting the eyes from the harmful effects of radiation exposure.

User questions & answers
Question: | I have to wear glasses when I do surgery. How do I use the lead glass along with my regular glasses |
Answer: | It will show peak levels in a 24 hour period if you press the button. However, I believe it does NOT read/register any level below 30 ppm. The manual doesn't indicate this but this is how it appears to behave in real use. I have read reviews that the Kidde digital brand does register anything above 11 ppm, so I'm planning to return this one. Peak levels should record peak levels above 11 ppm and this does not. |
Question: | Can you get these with anti fog ? How much more |
Answer: | Hi Christi,Yes, the First Alert CO710 carbon monoxide alert alarm can be taken with you when traveling. It is battery operated and can detect deadly smoke, fire and carbon monoxide hazards indoors as well as outdoors. |
Question: | Do these have glass lens? I am thinking of these to protect my eyes from dental X-rays |
Answer: | In my experience is very acute as long you follow the manual procedures. I couldn't compare since I don't have a reference |
Question: | can I see hidden things |
Answer: | It would not detect any CO2 only CO. |

Answer: | I measured CO in exhaust gas and it exceeded full scale reading. The device is designed to be used in a room where the temperatures are likely to fall within that range. |
Question: | Is it possible to use in fluoroscopic |
Answer: | This just detects CO, not CO2. CO is Carbon Monoxide (created by the burning of some type of fuel), CO2 is carbon Dioxide (created via exhaling, etc). Carbon Monoxide, CO, is what kills people in the night from running cars in garages, etc. |
Question: | Are the sides lead as well |
Answer: | I was advised that this has to be in luggage by my manager - |
Question: | Is it possible to use in fluoroscopic |
Answer: | Mine came with a full shelf life. I am not sure how you could ensure that other than contacting the seller directly. But in the event that you get an expired one you could just return it. |

Answer: | After my program purchased 20 pairs of these, I contacted Phillips Safety through multiple venues to try and request additional nose pieces. They would NOT sell them separately. They ONLY offered a complete frame rebuild, which they priced out as: "Iâve verified we donât offer nose pieces for this frame. He can send in his glasses for a new frame insert.Cost is $55.75 for the frame plus $25 lab insertion fee. Part#âs; · RX-703-BK â" for the frame· LABFEE â" for the insertion fee"Bringing the total price to $55.75 + $25 + $6.70 to ship = $87.45! This is 75% of the price of a new pair of glasses. |
