12 best oxygen bleaches
Oxygen bleaches are chemical compounds used for various cleaning and disinfecting purposes. They are known for their environmentally friendly and non-toxic properties, making them a popular choice for household cleaning, laundry, and certain industrial applications. Here's what you need to know about oxygen bleaches:
Composition: Oxygen bleaches are typically based on compounds like hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) or sodium percarbonate (Na2CO3·1.5H2O2). These compounds release oxygen when mixed with water, which acts as the active cleaning agent.
Bleaching Action: The oxygen released during the cleaning process helps to break down and remove stains, dirt, and organic matter. It is effective at removing a wide range of stains, including those from coffee, wine, grass, and food.
Color-Safe: Oxygen bleaches are considered color-safe because they do not contain chlorine, which can bleach or fade colored fabrics. This makes them suitable for use on colored clothing and fabrics.
Stain Removal: Oxygen bleach is effective at removing organic stains and can be used as a pre-soak for heavily soiled laundry or as an additive to the washing machine to boost cleaning power.
Disinfectant: In addition to stain removal, oxygen bleaches also have mild disinfecting properties. They can help kill bacteria and other microorganisms, making them useful for sanitizing surfaces in the home.
Environmental Benefits: One of the significant advantages of oxygen bleaches is their environmental friendliness. Unlike chlorine-based bleach, they do not produce harmful byproducts and are considered safer for the environment.
Applications: Oxygen bleaches are used in various applications, including:
- Laundry: They can be used as a laundry booster to whiten and brighten clothes.
- Household Cleaning: Oxygen bleaches are found in many household cleaning products, such as multipurpose cleaners, bathroom cleaners, and kitchen cleaners.
- Stain Removal: They are used for stain removal on clothing, carpets, and upholstery.
- Deck and Patio Cleaning: Oxygen bleach is used to clean outdoor surfaces like decks and patios.
- Disinfection: They can be used for disinfecting surfaces in homes and industrial settings.
Safety Precautions: While oxygen bleaches are generally considered safe, it's essential to follow the manufacturer's instructions for proper use and dilution. Avoid contact with eyes and prolonged skin exposure, and store these products in a cool, dry place away from children.
In summary, oxygen bleaches are versatile and environmentally friendly cleaning agents that are widely used for laundry, household cleaning, stain removal, and disinfection. They are considered a safer alternative to chlorine-based bleach and are effective at removing stains and sanitizing surfaces.

User questions & answers
Question: | Is it tested on animals |
Answer: | heavier jobs like outdoor, garage |
Question: | How do I use oxygen bleach as disinfectant |
Answer: | Either one will work. Blue is a little softer. |
Question: | How many loads is the 1.3 lb bag good for |
Answer: | The green scrub Orbiter brush is in between, believe is considered medium level brush. I use mine to clean my shower tile stall in combination with Viper Venom tile & grout cleaner. Works really well. Not real sure what mastic is, but believe if you use the green brush in combination with solution the breaks down the mastic you should not have a problem removing it. If you want a stronger brush for concrete would recommend the orange brush it is better suited to tackle things on concrete. I have them both and the orange has the harder bristles. Remember to use solution that specifically tackles whatever your matter your dealing, gum, paint, oils, foods, etc in combination with your Orbiter brushes. Hope this has been helpful, the brushes work really well, even if you just use water. But for specific things use solutions that apply to whatever your trying to remove. |
Question: | Will this take the chemical smell lut pf black jeans |
Answer: | I would recommend using this along with something like the Zep Floor Stripper that will actually help dissolve that polish so it can get down to the trapped dirt and hair. Strip it down and then seal it and polish it as you have been. https://www.amazon.com/Zep-Heavy-Duty-Floor-Stripper-Ounce/dp/B07PDSMJTG |

- Turn the fabric so the stain is face-down and rinse it from the back.
- Never wash a blood stain in warm or hot water, which may cause it to bond permanently to the fibers of the fabric.
- Always check the instructions on the garment’s care label; dry-clean only items need to be professionally cleaned soon after treating the stain.

User questions & answers
Question: | I just got my box of Oxyclean and my scoop was shattered to pieces. This is the first box I have purchased so I don't have a scoop. Please help |
Answer: | I have both the small jar for my laundry bag (to take the laundry room in my building) and the big box for refilling. The scoops are diff sizes. Here's the breakdown: Small scoop has 1 fill line halfway up that equals exactly 0.7 oz and to the top of the cup is exactly 1.4 oz (just shy of 3 Tbsp / 1.5 oz.). The full line is quite hard to see so I think they do this intentionally so customers run out faster using double as I myself was even filling to the top for ages as I hadn't even noticed the fill line. Instructions say to use 1-3 scoops (I'm assuming to the actual fill line bc to the top is actually 2 scoops) for wash: 1 for regular, more for larger or dirtier loads. 1-2 scoops for HE. 2-4 scoops/gal for soaking tough stains on garments. Large scoop is 4 oz or 1/2 cup and has 4 fill lines (so 2 Tbsp / 1 oz / 1/8 cup per line). Instructions say fill to line 1-3 for washer: 1 for regular, more for larger or dirtier loads. HE: fill to line 1-2. Fill to line 2-4 per gallon water for soaking tough stains on garments. Now just to compare the small scoop says 1-3 scoops per load (0.7 oz - 2.1 oz) and the large scoop says line 1-3 per load (1 oz - 3 oz) so there is a bit of a discrepancy with these dang scoops but close enough I guess. My advice? If u lack a scoop use full oz increments so u can use a baking measuring spoon or cup...but hey you do you boo. |
Question: | Is this safe to clean a wall to wall carpet |
Answer: | Use one scoop in a 16 oz spray bottle, spray on stains and extra dirty areas of your carpet before you clean your carpet. Great pretreatment! Worked great on mine. |
Question: | Is this product tested on animals? Does the parent company test on animals |
Answer: | No,,we don't want Products which are tested on animals... And for those of you with your course remarks regarding this issue... It's very sad that you think innocent animals should spend their lives being tortured to death so that these freaking American companies can sell you hideous poisonous products which are harmful and detrimental to your and our health ..... Pretty pathetic... |
Question: | Is this particular box detergent, or is it truly the additive |
Answer: | I use it alone (without degergent) on bath towels and whites. The towels smell better than when washed in detergent, and they don't get that funky stale smell when they've been folded & in the cabinet for a while. We initially used it alone for all our laundry, until we had issues with a dark colored shirt depositing spots on not-as-dark clothing. The spots did eventually fade away, but we returned to regular detergent for darker colors. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Do you use this in addition to your regular liquid detergent or does this replace it? Is it OK for a front loading washer |
Answer: | I use it in my HE front loader. This is from the oxi clean website How do I use it in my front-loading washing machine? There are different methods that will allow you to use OxiClean™ powder in your front-loading washer. Please choose the one that will work best for your machine. Be sure to follow the recommendations of the machine’s manufacturer. Method 1: Completely dissolve one scoop of OxiClean™ Versatile Stain Remover in 473mL of tap water and add the mixture to the wash through an external dispenser after the machine has started to agitate. This is the best method to use if your machine will allow it. Method 2: If your machine is a brand that does not have an external dispenser, you may mix one scoop of OxiClean™ Versatile Stain Remover with your powdered detergent. Method 3: If you use a liquid detergent, you may dissolve one scoop of OxiClean™ Versatile Stain Remover in 473mL of tap water and pour the mixture into the bleach dispenser. Or add OxiClean™ Versatile Stain Remover powder directly to the empty tub BEFORE adding clothes. If you would prefer a liquid stain remover and laundry booster, you might like to try our OxiClean™ Triple Power Stain Fighter, which is also an excellent product. |
Question: | Does versitile work just as good on whites as white revive? Does white revive fade colors |
Answer: | I've used Versatile on both colors and whites. I've noticed a slightly better result on whites with the White Revive, but not a huge difference. I haven't used White Revive on colors because I was concerned about colors fading, so I can't say. |
Question: | What are the ingredients |
Answer: | The ingredients for this product are: Sodium Carbonate (Soda Ash), Sodium Percarbonate, Surfactant, and Polymer. |
Question: | Does this have absolutely any fragrance at all to it? Some "free" products still do sadly |
Answer: | I, too, am extremely sensitive to fragrance and that is why I use this product. There might be a slight odor when you open the container due to the dry, condensed product, but there is no fragrance at all left in your laundry. Wish they would do create their stain remover in "free" also! |

User questions & answers
Question: | Can you use this to clean grout |
Answer: | Hi, Reena! Yes! Take your Clorox Bleach Pen Gel into the bathroom & kitchen for an easy way to remove stains on tile, grout, caulking, or porcelain. -Clorox Consumer Services |
Question: | How would I use the pen to remove black on my shirt sleeves |
Answer: | It might also make a difference what has caused the black mark. I love Clorox for all sorts of things, but have not tried it on black marker pen, and of course, you have to consider whether or not the garment has a color dye in it that may cause the Clorox to leave a white spot. If the Clorox pen is not for "your" black mark, you might try using rubbing alcohol--the kind sold in the drugstore for disinfecting, then make a pad of paper toweling and put it under the black mark and treat the mark with rubbing alcohol. You may have to keep hitting the mark with an alcohol-wet cloth and changing the paper towel until no black is left, but it works. Alcohol will also work on ball pen. And now I'm off to order some Clorox pens to bleach my kitchen counter grout! |
Question: | Will this bleach my tiles if I use it on grout |
Answer: | Probably, but it is expensive because there is not much product in the pen. I use X-14 or you could dilute some bleach in a spray bottle. When I use either, it has never affected the tile BUT always rinse after using. |
Question: | Can I use this on the inside rim of a white hat? Is it safe to wear or do I still need to wash it |
Answer: | I would try to lightly wash after using. It works fairly well on my hubby's white shirt collars but I of course wash the shirts after. It's pretty strong-smelling like bleach. |

One Man’s Vision
When Jim Rimer realized what was inside some of the cleaning products he was selling, it shook him to the core. It was the spark that sent him on a mission to create cleaning products that are safe for people, their homes, and the environment.
In 1989, Biokleen was born when Jim started making cleaning products in his garage with a drum and an ore. He even filled bottles by candle light when he couldn't pay the electricity bill. Word started getting around about the main who made plant-based cleaning products that actually worked!
It's over 30 years later and Biokleen is still committed to its cleaning for good mission and continues to win over loyal consumers.

Question: | Should lemon juice still be added to laundry, for bright whites, or does the product's lemon essential oil work as enough of a substitute |
Answer: | I do not add lemon juice to my laundry for bright whites. This product has done an amazing job on my white towels. The towels were so drab I almost replaced them. Now with this whitener they are are a lovely white again. It does smell nice when you add it to the washer. |
Question: | Does this work in cold water |

Our Story
Molly’s Suds began when founder & CEO, Monica, unexpectedly lost her daughter Molly, at birth. In the midst of her grief, she began investigating the potential causes for this loss, as she had 3 other children. Her research led her to the chemicals used in common household products — and especially those in laundry products. Mothers pass these chemicals to their babies via pregnancy and breast milk, which can lead to loss, health complications, or future issues.
Monica began to replace the harmful chemical-laden goods in her home with natural, safe alternatives. The only thing she couldn’t find a good replacement for? Laundry detergent! So, she formulated her own, created with only safe, natural ingredients that offer quality cleaning with the utmost integrity regarding the health of our families and environment.
Our company is dedicated to Molly. Her footprints on our packaging are there to remind us that our products will always be safe for everyone, even the tiniest family members
All About Oxygen Whitener
Break down stains, reduce dinginess, and bring back your brilliant whites and colors! Molly’s Suds BULK Oxygen Whitener is a natural, safe, and effective bleach alternative that not only whitens but also brightens. This health-conscious alternative to conventional oxygen whiteners and chlorine bleach has comparable whitening power, with none of the harsh chemicals and health hazards. Instead, it’s powered with sodium percarbonate, sodium carbonate, and citric acid. Pure lemon essential oil assists in the whitening action and gives this powder a pure, citrus scent that doesn’t linger in fabrics.
What’s In It?
This whole XL bulk bag is filled to the brim with nothing but earth and plant-derived goodness! Here’s the full scoop on what’s in our Oxygen Whitener.
- Sodium percarbonate
- Sodium carbonate
- Citric acid
- Pure lemon essential oil
Simple, right? But don’t let that simplicity fool you. This blend of ingredients and crafting process ensures a powerful whitening action that puts other whiteners to shame!
Safe Alternative to Chlorine-Based Whiteners
Our Oxygen Whitener is free of all harsh chemicals and toxins. It doesn’t contain chlorine, ammonia, optical brighteners, petrochemicals, or any synthetic fragrances and dyes.
Thanks to its squeaky clean ingredient list, this Oxygen Whitener is safe for use on newborn laundry and in homes with chemical and fragrance sensitivities.
*Do not use this product if you are allergic to citric acid or lemons.
Brightening and Whitening Your Laundry
Add 2 scoops of Oxygen Whitener to your washer, then add your laundry. We recommend washing on hot (though check your garment care labels first). To brighten and whiten, allow the laundry to soak for up to two hours.
Only a couple items to wash? Add 1 scoop of Oxygen Whitener to a sink of hot water, add your clothing, and allow to soak for two hours before rinsing or laundering as usual.
The Benefits of Buying in Bulk
Did you know that buying in bulk helps protect the environment? Bulk products reduce the amount of plastic waste that heads toward landfills or recycling plants. It also helps businesses reduce the carbon footprint created by their manufacturing and shipping processes. Bulk products like our XL bag of Oxygen Whitener means less packaging waste, less overall transport, fewer emissions, and a healthier planet. And don’t forget — you’ve got the added bonus of a long-lasting supply of your favorite whitener!
Color Safe and People Friendly
Our natural bleach alternative doesn’t just act as a whitener; it acts as brightener too. This means that it’s safe for whites, bright colors, and mixed white and colored fabrics. Before tossing your new bright red tee in with your white jeans, however, it’s still best to separate your lights and darks. Remember, some dyes are not completely set and may bleed. (Looking at you, blue jeans!)
Our Oxygen Whitener is gentle but powerful, and this makes it a perfect choice for almost any kind of laundry. You can use it for:
- Sheet sets and towels
- Natural fibers except for wool, leather, and silk
- White laundry
- Colored laundry
- Vintage clothing
- Pet laundry and bedding
*We do not recommend use on wool, leather, or silk or you will be sad.
Additional Uses for Molly’s Suds Oxygen Whitener
Our Oxygen Whitener has some secret superpowers. That ability to whiten and brighten works on more than just your laundry! You can use it in other areas of your home too!
Extra carpet cleaning power! Add a scoop of Oxygen Whitener to the water compartment of your carpet cleaner for extra brightening power. (Do NOT do this on wool carpeting or silk rugs.)
Whiten your toilet bowl! Sprinkle it into the toilet bowl and allow to sit, dampened, in the bowl for several minutes. Now, scrub away those stubborn stains!
Whiten your porcelain sinks and tubs! Sprinkle some into your sink or tub and scrub, using a soft-bristled brush. Rinse away the residue. After all this cleaning, maybe it’s time for a soak for yourself!
Laundry Booster: Add this Oxygen Whitener to your normal wash to give some extra boosting and brightening power. This is especially helpful for those with hard water, as all the minerals in the water tend to block the cleaning power of detergents and laundry powders.

User questions & answers
Question: | can it be mix with water and directly pour to clothes? what is ratio |
Answer: | I've not used it directly on clothes. I do put a cup of sodium percarbonate into about two gallons of hot/wamr water, stir and wait for it to dissolve (about 7 minutes), and add clothes, leaving them to steep for an hour or so. |
Question: | Is this product testsd on animals |
Answer: | The question of whether a product has been tested on animals is more complicated than is commonly understood. A manufacturer, say of cosmetics, may say that it doesn't test on animals. However, that doesn't mean that one or more of the ingredients in the product has been tested on animals, either recently or in the past. The vast majority of ingredients in products are purchased from chemical companies who manufacture and supply raw materials. It still seems that most consumers don't understand that. You might buy, say, "natural" vitamin C, but the company whose product you are buying obtains the vitamin C from a huge chemical company, which could be almost anywhere in the world. When I was GM of a supplement maker, we bought our vitamin C from Roche. We could have bought from other companies, and now many companies make vitamin C. Ascorbic acid (vitamin C) is a manufactured product, it is not derived from oranges or rose hips, or some other whole food. You could only get a tiny fraction of the doses that most people buy (hundreds of milligram) of vitamin C from a natural source, and it would be very expensive. The companies that sell to consumers misrepresent their products by describing them as "natural." But then, manufactured vitamin C is identical to what is naturally found in foods. The pill makers add things like rose hips and orange to give you the impression that those are the source of the vitamin. The same thing is true will virtually every other supplement labeled "natural." The same thing happens with cosmetics, which I've also designed and marketed. It's highly unlikely that this manufacturer tests sodium percarbonate on animals since the chemical was first made in 1899 and animal testing has already been done. Sodium percarbonate has been tested by researchers on the skin and eyes of animals, and probably fed to some animals to determine the LD50, which is a measure of how much it takes to kill them. |
Question: | Is it odor free |
Answer: | Yes. |
Question: | Is it coated or uncoated |
Answer: | Unfortunately the bag doesn’t say. I haven’t had any issues with this dissolving. |
