Answer:	I have done this with a different brand that did not have as good a gauge as AC Pro, and I have not yet done it with AC Pro, but it is easy because these recharge kits are designed to only fit the correct nozzle on your AC. Answer:	It has a gauge you calibrate according to outside air temperature before starting charging. Personally, I just use the gauge to get me into the green zone on the gauge, or when the system is blowing cold air on your hands (in the vehicle). Overcharging will defeat its purpose.
Question:	Is this the right refrigerant for all American cars, vans etc
Answer:	Not to top off but this will help convert any car from mid 70's up so you can use this R-134 and this will fill them. Just buy another regular small can or two of R-134a along with it without the guage. (1-2 extra cans depends how big car/van). The R-134a/R12 retro fitting to connect this line to the older cars is sold at any auto parts store just ask them for one. Just remove the old freon before adding to it. The only reason R-134a is not always "recommended" for cars prior to mid 70's is due to how the old cars A/C hoses were assembled. The pressure on the R-134 runs a bit higher and it "may" leak out of hose connections. fyi: I believe its just rumored to make more money for ac shops since its less than 10psi more but' I have never put it in that old of a car to varify? I say its BS!! I have however converted many 80's on up cars without any issues what so ever. I have one retro fitting and I dont leave it on the car, I keep it with my a/c kit because Im cheap. lol It can take a bit longer to cool the older cars that were designed to run R12 but it will be just fine in all other aspects. Even if your cars a/c is only blowing hot air now you must still relieve the pressure from the systems low side before filling with new R-134a...I have never had a vacuum pump to draw it down the correct way but even so they all worked fine for yrs. Ya' bad on our ozone I know. We still could never put as much in the air as GM cars and their junk Harrison units spewing several cans out every summer for decades on all their cars while the government looked the other way.
