But if I was in your shoes, I would dampen the top of the mat, roll it up but not too tightly (maybe a 6-8" roll), with the top side out, and let it dry. Hopefully when you lay it out there would be a slight curl downward and its own weight will lay it flat. I don't really know - just say'in. |

Moreover, however, this mat is not designed for use in a recessed application. Specialty matting designed specifically for recessed environments would be the appropriate product so that it will have the exact width and length and be the appropriate height to prevent trips and falls and be ADA-compliant. The compound is part of the mat itself and so it won't get rubbed off or washed away quickly.
