Answer: | Dear Mike, this is a NPT thread 3/8". That means that the thread is tapered ( it is actually wider at the opening and slowly tapering down). All pipe threads are tapered ( even the British standard is tapered). If you use something that is not tapered chanses are it will never seal and it will leak. There are actual gauges that test the thread ( I can send you video if you like) and confirm the exact thread. |

Answer: | Even with low current (~ 2A) feeding this valve, when I tried to leave it on for a long time this valve got really hot. My test was about 30 minutes, and I ended up removing the valve from my design. I was hoping to use this as a redundant, fail safe valve, and tried a simple circuit to limit the current at the solenoid, but it still got hot when turned on. Too bad, because for the price this valve is well-built for intermittent operation. |

Answer: | I would say no. I'm no propane expert, but I believe the mechanical relief valve on a standard BBQ style propane tank is close to 300psi (call a gas shop to be sure for your application). This is rated 72psi for gases, so probably best to look for something with a higher pressure rating. |

Answer: | I run them on an agriculture sprayer. I have 50 rows of grapes and it takes me 2 minutes per row, so they are on for two minutes and then off for about 20 seconds while I make a turn and then back on for the next row. They do get hot, but they work. Yes normally closed is off, no flow. |

Answer: | Cool thankjs for the question. The holes are 5mm and 1/2 deep. But US 10/32 screws fit also. Warning the holes are about 1/8 BELOW the surface, therefore you need a couple tiny washers for spacers to flush mount it. I remote mount it and run alcohol thru it as a "High Rpm Lean" Works great. Warning the solenoid has a .156" hole for fuel flow. You must test to see if your flow is enough. Funny Car Guy. PS We just won NHRA Atlanta |
