Answer:	I used mine in a non-submersed application so I’m not sure how good the seal is or it’s temperature rating. It is well made. The threads on the nut are tight tolerance but remember they are left hand. I scribed that on the nut otherwise I’d be forever taking it off. One more thing, I used mine on a flat surface. I don’t know if the seal will work on the curved surface of the pot or if the metal is flexible enough to flatten when you tighten the nut LH. And you may want to support the heater inside the tank so it doesn’t flex the seal either. For the money, it’s worth a try.

Question:	what drill size do i need for this bulk head
Answer:	The outside thread size means nothing. This is a bulkhead fitting, you drill a hole in a tank slightly larger than the outside thread. You unthread the plastic ring and with the appropriate rubber washers in place you put the fitting thru the hole and screw the threaded ring back on. You now have a tank with a tap to insert a 1/2 nptm fitting into.

Answer:	It's an NPT (National Pipe Thread) measurement. It's not exactly 3/4" or 1/2" if measured on a ruler. The best comparison I can think of is a 2 x 4 piece of lumber. A 2 x 4 does not measure exactly "2 inches x 4 inches", construction and building materials often use measurements that aren't "standard", as seen with PVC fittings.

Double threaded has nothing to do with the external threads which do not mate with any common pipe fittings..In my hydroponics setup I have a bulkhead in the bottom of my growing pan. Drain pipe out the bottom and a short nipple inside the pan to set water level.p.s. I suggest using teflon tape on plastic pipe threads, especially ones that will be removed frequently like the short pipe setting water level in my case. Threaded plastic fittings tend to be very difficult to install/remove after using the bulkhead for a while, especially blue PVC nipples vs white PVC.
