11 best liquid weld
Liquid weld, also known as epoxy adhesive, is a type of industrial adhesive used for bonding various materials together. It is widely employed in construction, manufacturing, automotive, and other industries where strong and durable bonds are required. Here are some key points about liquid weld or epoxy adhesive:
Composition: Epoxy adhesives are typically made up of two components: a resin and a hardener. These components must be mixed in the correct proportions to initiate the curing process.
Curing Process: When the resin and hardener are mixed, a chemical reaction occurs, resulting in the hardening or curing of the adhesive. This process is exothermic, meaning it generates heat, and it leads to the formation of a strong, rigid bond.
Versatility: Epoxy adhesives are highly versatile and can bond a wide range of materials, including metals, plastics, ceramics, glass, and wood. They are known for their exceptional bonding strength and resistance to chemicals, moisture, and heat.
Bonding Strength: Liquid weld or epoxy adhesives are renowned for their high bonding strength. They can create bonds that are often stronger than the materials being joined. This strength makes them suitable for various structural and load-bearing applications.
Cure Time: The curing time for epoxy adhesives can vary depending on the specific product and application. Some epoxies cure quickly, while others may require more time. Curing can take place at room temperature or be accelerated with the application of heat.
Use Cases:
- Construction: Epoxy adhesives are used in construction for bonding concrete, reinforcing bars (rebar), and anchoring bolts.
- Automotive: They are utilized in automotive repair for fixing and bonding various parts, including plastic and metal components.
- Electronics: Epoxy adhesives are used to encapsulate and protect electronic components, such as circuit boards.
- Aerospace: In the aerospace industry, epoxy adhesives are used for bonding composite materials and assembling aircraft components.
- Art and Craft: Epoxy adhesives are popular in art and craft projects for their ability to bond different materials securely.
Specialized Formulations: There are various specialized epoxy formulations designed for specific applications, such as marine epoxy for underwater repairs, epoxy putty for filling gaps and voids, and epoxy coatings for protecting surfaces.
Safety Precautions: It's essential to follow safety guidelines and use proper ventilation when working with epoxy adhesives. Some epoxy formulations may emit fumes during the curing process, and skin contact should be avoided by wearing protective gloves.
Storage: Epoxy adhesives should be stored in a cool, dry place, and the containers should be tightly sealed to prevent the components from prematurely curing.
In summary, liquid weld or epoxy adhesives are versatile and strong bonding agents used in various industrial and DIY applications. They are known for their durability and ability to bond a wide range of materials, making them a valuable tool in many industries.

User questions & answers
Question: | Weird question i know but would i be able to glue my led light strip to the carpet part of my vehicle with this |
Answer: | Yes but it doesn't set quickly like super glue. You'll need to hold the led in place for at least 6 minutes and then let the glue dry completely. I used the glue to reattach a rearview mirror support slug to a windshield. I held the slug in place for 6 minutes and then let it dry overnight before I attached the rearview mirror to it. The instructions on the package will explain this. Also, be aware that you will NEVER be able to remove the led without ripping out the carpet. |
Question: | Would this work to fill a small hole in a slab of granite |
Answer: | Yes but it won't be pretty |
Question: | We put in peel and stick flooring, and there are a few gaps between boards. Would this work to fill in the gaps |
Answer: | Can it? Sure. Is it practical to use it in this manner? Probably not. It is messy, but if you tape the areas where you do not want the epoxy and pull the tape up before it sets, you'll be fine. You can also clean it up with acetone as long as you get to it before it sets. I also wouldn't recommend 5/6 minute epoxy, either. If you are filling a long gap, you'll need the extra time for clean up. |
Question: | can it hold metal to plastic |
Answer: | yes it can |

User questions & answers
Question: | Could this be used to fix a small (1 x 1/4 inch) crack in a dryer drum? Is there danger it will come off on the clothes |
Answer: | When I have had questions about JB Weld products I have called JB Weld & they have answered with good information. Your problem is special because of the temperature that the drum attains. Ask JB Weld. |
Question: | Is this product electrically conductive |
Answer: | It is NOT electrically conductive. JB Weld is classified as an insulator my the manufacturer (see JB Weld FAQs). In fact it's rated to be microwave safe. Metallic conductors should never be used in a microwave oven, but JB Weld is OK for microwave use. |
Question: | I have a number of small leaks in an older aluminum boat-- would JB work for a repair on this as a weld/filler for small punctures? thanks |
Answer: | This is a general purpose epoxy that worked great for me on cast iron. It does say you can use it for marine purposes, however you might also consider their product made specifically for water:http://www.amazon.com/J-B-Weld-8277-Water/dp/B000BRQ0TW/ref=sr_1_5?ie=UTF8&qid=1392730373&sr=8-5&keywords=jb+weldor look into the Permatex product made specifically for metalshttp://www.amazon.com/Permatex-84109-PermaPoxy-Minute-Multi-Metal/dp/B000ALDXV2/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1392730252&sr=8-1&keywords=metal+epoxy |
Question: | block crack between cyls 5 & 7 against the head, at the narrowest point between cyls. both cyls are sleeved. will jb hold the temp without breaking do |
Answer: | thanks gpower. was looking online at the temp ratings of different epoxy products, actually found one @2100F, but with low tensile strength. I would like to stay away from welding as the crack is five eights long and sleeved at each end. just now pressure testing and the waterjacket has held 30 lbs for 12 hrs. I may also entertain some of the hi-tech block sealers, if it continues to hold pressure. thanks again for your input, and wish me luck putting life back in this old hemi. Dean |

User questions & answers
Question: | I have a crack in a pressure washer pump. Will it hold under that kind of pressure |
Answer: | I used it to repair a puncture hole on the gas tank of my Honda big red 3 wheeler about 12 years ago. I sanded to bare metal and used 91% rubbing alchohol to prep and clean the area. I put a small piece of masking tape on the inside of the tank and then filled the hole with JB weld. I let it cure of about 3 or 4 days. I then sanded it smooth painted it with Honda red paint and 12 years later I am writing this. It still holds gas just fine. Doesnt leak, you wouldn't even know there was a hole if I didnt tell you. Now, i do not know about diesel as I have not specifically worked with that situation. My guess is if you prep the area well enough and get rid of all the residue it will work just fine. |
Question: | Once hardened can it be drilled or will that shatter it |
Answer: | Yes, for sure |
Question: | hi would like to ask if this cold-weld jb weld is suitable for cracked car valve cover? can it widthstand the heat of the valve cover |
Answer: | With stereo surround sound, the sound quality is very good |
Question: | Hi I accidentally hit a rock and cracked my aluminum engine oil pan. Will this be a permanently be fix or just temporary? the crack is 3 inch length t |
Answer: | Any age |
Question: | is this good with diesel tank cracks |
Answer: | Yes, there are two foot pedals for the bass drum. So you don't worry about it. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Will this glue work when you are glueing glass to glass |
Answer: | You're joking, right? |
Question: | How is the clarity of this epoxy? Does it cloud after cured |
Answer: | "Mixed at a ratio of 1:1, it forms a permanent bond and can be shaped, filed, sanded and drilled after curing." This quote is right off the package, but I know for a fact that when we accidentally drilled too large a hole then filled it with JB Weld, we were able to drill a smaller hole with no problem. |
Question: | Will this adhere rubber gaskets to hard plastic that will be underwater |
Answer: | Depends...the material your valve cover is made from may swell or shrink under heat and cold. Whether J-B Weld will move is unknown. If you try it you will have to de-grease contact areas to form a good bond. Let us know if it works for you. |
Question: | How do you preserve this for future use. Mine dried up after about 6 months. I don't use it regularly. Is there a secret for preserving it |
Answer: | Getting the metal clean first is the problem. Replace the oil pan, or have it welded by an expert. |

User questions & answers
Question: | I need to solder a jump ring on my medic-alert band, do you think this will work |
Answer: | It may, if you do a really good job prepping the surface and let it dry at least 24 hours...in the past we have JB welded a small metal patch over a hole which we had filled with JB weld, in a low pressure water/maple sap tank...it worked until we could get it to the shop at the end of the season to fit it right. |
Question: | When dried, is it smooth or rough |
Answer: | If the parts are completely dry and clean for the cost of trying it is worth a try. If you have a leak in an A/C system it is probably oily from the leakage you are trying to seal and that oil would prevent J-B Weld from sticking to the metal surfaces. With A/C parts it is best to replace the parts with new ones and then to properly lubricate the O-rings and seals with correct A/C oil. First be sure to safely remove the refrigerant for recycling and to keep it from destroying the Ozone layer. |
Question: | What is it's maximum operating temperature? I have an automotive repair and it will get pretty hot. If not, is there an alternate |
Answer: | At a surface area that large I don't think this product is appropriate for your application. |
Question: | is this electrically conductive |
Answer: | The new version in now made in China and is no were as good as the old version. I had both versions and the old held up and new has not. I still use the JB Weld, but for minor projects at no risk to breaking. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Will this work to fix a broken post on an earring |
Answer: | I doubt it very seriously. There is no adhesive I know of that can fix such a tiny joint. Even some hypothetical micro-welding would probably not fix such a small problem. On the other hand, for slightly broader joints and fissures, I highly recommend this product. |
Question: | Will it work on plastic models |
Answer: | Yes, it will in my experience. It is possible that it depends on the specific type of plastic. The other thing is that since you need to shine the UV light to harden it, you can't put it in the middle of two pieces where there would be no exposure to the UV light. Sometimes I put a little glue on the inside and use Bondic on the outer seams to provide an even stronger bond. |
Question: | Is this real Bondic or a knockoff |
Answer: | Real Bondic as pictured. |
Question: | How long do we shine the light on it |
Answer: | Instructions say 3-4 sec. You need to rough up the surface and apply in layers, depending on the repair. More layers, more strength. I repaired a $25 pair of sunglasses where the temple snapped in half. That's not an easy repair. After roughing surfaces up, I first did a butt weld to hold it together. Then I went around the piece, layering the adhesive and overlapping the break an eigth inch or so all the way around, hardening each weld with the light. Eventually you make a band around the break. The adhesive is like very thick syrup but bot sticky. It hardens immediately with the UV light. Obviously if you grab it like a stick and try to snap it, it will! But my glasses fit tightly going on, and I have had no problems since I fixed them, which is all I expected. Afterall, they broke when they were whole and brand new! So I'm getting my money's worth and even epoxy glue didn't hold up when I tried that. Plus the Laser Bond is simple to use with no messy glue! |
Question: | Will this work in a 110v outlet |
Answer: | Yes |
Question: | Description lists Voltage as 220, plug in photo shows a plug for a 110 Volt outlet. What is the correct voltage |
Answer: | 110 |

User questions & answers
Question: | J-B does NOT recommended this for exhaust manifold use, per their site FAQ. My truck's manifold is cracked: Would furnace cement work on such a crack |
Answer: | I am not familiar with furnace cement, but I would doubt such cement would stand the pressure from leaking gasses. However cast iron exhaust manifolds canbe successfully welded. |
Question: | I striped out an oil drain plug on a generator motor. But there is a second drain on the other side of the engine. Will this seal in oily environment |
Answer: | if you are thinking about plugging the hole, yes, but if you have access to the inside of the pan i would use it to attach a plate to the inside. you could also grind down the outside free of rust / dirt and use it to bond a plate to the outside. i would be concerned about just using it as a plug, where using it to bond something to the pan would not span a 1/2 to 5/8 in. gap. you might even use a quarter or a nickle or something stainless that will not rust. after it sets, hit it with some high temp paint. |
Question: | can you use this to seal a leaking transfer case seal? (would work ? instead of having to replace the seal |
Answer: | I guess it depends on if you ever want to fix it right. Once you use this stuff thats how it will be forever, it's not pliable or removable |
Question: | Will this fix a hole in a muffler |
Answer: | I used it on the muffler and tailpipe on my Honda four wheeler and it has been holding up well. If fact that's what I bought it for originally. The holes I patched you could cover with a dime. |
