Simple, Fast Installation

Installing the door insulation is easy. You simply unfold the film and cut it to the width of the door frame, allowing an extra inch on all sides. Next, you firmly apply the mounting tape around the frame and remove the paper liner. Then you apply the film to the tape, starting at the top of the door, and reposition and stretch the film to remove wrinkles. Finally, you use a blow dryer to remove any remaining wrinkles, then trim any excess film.

Made in the United States, and designed for indoor use only, this insulator kit can be used with aluminum, vinyl-clad, or painted or varnished wood molding, but it should not be applied to veneer paneling or Lauan mahogany molding. The film and tape should be removed from the door at the end of the season. Question:	I am from the South, so my big question is, does it insulates from heat so well as it does from cold
Answer:	Short answer: It does not insulate well from temperature exchange through your window, but it does prevent air exchange, so it can dramatically reduce your heating/cooling bill if you are constantly having to condition fresh air from outside.Long answer: I have used this in a warehouse office where we kept it up year-round (because the landlord was too cheap to replace 50+ year old windows). Just keep in mind; First, with less air exchange, make sure that your HVAC has a good filter system, and that you replace it regularly to prevent buildup of allergens/mold in the home. Second, if you live in a particularly humid area then this can result in water (and mold) buildup between the plastic and window during warm weather, which is bad (using the exterior version of this product may work better). Third, these are great to save a few $$ and keep the house more comfortable during extreme weather for a few months, but they are not a good long-term solution. The tape gives out, the plastic can yellow or haze over time, you lose the use of the window, it is easy to disturb and ruin... generally not a good long-term game plan. If you need a more permanent solution then consider using clear caulking to seal the seams/cracks in your window (assuming it is not against safety/fire code, remember you typically need 2 exit points and many rooms only have 1 door and 1 window), or else consider replacing the window.
Question:	How does this hold up compared to frost king
Answer:	This holds up much better then frost king... I have never had frost king last a whole season on my windows but the 3M lasts no matter how long the cold season has lasted. I will never go back to using Frost King again.

Answer:	I would assume so, though we live in Maine near the coast where it can be in the teens and 20s sometimesduring the weather; I assume it would work since 3M is an excellent product - the hardware versionsdon't seem to work as well. You'll need the 3M tape for this as well.

Answer:	Yes, it has a strong odor to it. I am sensitive to fragrances and chemicals but this is stronger smelling than any tape I've ever used before. This tape will permeate the entire room. I've only used it in one room for about 3 days and its still strong. I will probably be removing it.
Question:	Would it work to cover the aluminum on the inside of the window to avoid condensation
Answer:	To me it seemed to just be really thick packaging tape. I don't know how well it would work on aluminum though. I have used it on a broken corner of the window pane. With the cold weather when I bake the interior windows get condensation. This condensation also accumulates on The repaired area of glass. Hope this info helps.
Question:	Is this tape heavier than packing tape? One reviewer said packing tape would have worked just as well
Answer:	The 3M Interior Transparent Weather Sealing Tape is indeed heavier than clear packing tape but also more of a flexible, "vinyl" kind of material. Packing tape will not conform to the transitions between glass and frame as well and I believe if left exposed to constant temperature changes, humidity and direct sunlight it would dry and become brittle, much the same as it does on cardboard boxes after lengthy periods. The 3M tape I applied to a bedroom window in April 2012 is still doing the job of sealing air leaks as well today, as when first applied. I just don't think clear packing tape would have lasted this long. As another posted replied, this tape is also nearly invisible once applied.

Question:	Does this kit have one piece of film for each window or do you have to cut it
Answer:	Film is 1 piece. The dimensions on the box (5.16 ft x 7 ft) Match the size of the film. The box shown would cover two windows that are 3’ x 5’. Make sure when you cut the film that you leave a couple of inches of extra film on each side of the window. This makes it easier to pull it tight. You may not even have to heat it with a heat gun or air blower. Try putting the tape on the wood frame edge that is next to the wall.
Question:	the product is for 62" x84" but the picture shows 3'X5'. Which is it
Answer:	You should be able to get to 3 x 5 windows out of the piece of film that is in the box. Try to put the tape on the edge of the trim that is against the wall. Leave a couple inches of film extra all the way around the window which allows you to pull the film tight and that’s possibly eliminating having to shrink it.
Question:	Will this work on a double-paned-glass metal balcony door? Would I just cover the glass portion or also extend as close to the frame as possible
Answer:	You would need to measure that door , outside edge of the frame that surrounds it , as that is what the sticky strip sticks too.

Answer:	It's intended to join vapor barrier so joining EPS foam would be "off label." Don't know about foam but am skeptical. I do know it works great for joining and repairing vapor barrier.
