13 best easy trail maps
Easy trail maps typically refer to simplified, user-friendly maps designed to assist hikers, campers, and outdoor enthusiasts in navigating trails and natural areas. Here are some key points about easy trail maps:
Clear and Simple Design: Easy trail maps are characterized by their clear, straightforward design. They aim to provide essential information in an easily understandable format, often avoiding excessive detail or technical elements.
Highlighted Trails: These maps typically highlight the main trails, making it easy for users to identify and follow their chosen route. Different trails are often differentiated by color or line style.
Landmarks and Points of Interest: Important landmarks and points of interest along the trail are usually marked, providing users with valuable reference points for navigation and orientation.
Distance Markers: Easy trail maps often include markers indicating the distances between key points along the trail. This helps hikers plan their route and estimate how long a hike will take.
Elevation Profiles: Some easy trail maps may include simplified elevation profiles, which give users an idea of the terrain's steepness and changes in elevation along the trail.
Legend or Key: A legend or key is typically provided to explain the symbols and icons used on the map. This helps users interpret the information correctly.
Scale: The scale of the map is important for estimating distances. Easy trail maps usually include a scale bar or measurement to indicate how far a certain distance on the map represents in reality.
Orientation: Most maps have a north arrow or compass rose to show the orientation of the map in relation to the actual landscape.
Water Sources and Facilities: Depending on the area covered by the map, it might indicate the location of water sources (like rivers or lakes) and facilities (such as restrooms or campsites).
Material and Printing Quality: Easy trail maps are often printed on durable materials to withstand outdoor conditions. They may be laminated or printed on water-resistant paper to prevent damage from moisture.
Suitability for Beginners: These maps are designed to be user-friendly, making them suitable for beginners or those who may not be experienced in reading complex topographical maps.
Frameable as Wall Art: Some easy trail maps are designed not only for practical use but also as decorative items. They may be aesthetically pleasing and suitable for framing as wall art.
When choosing an easy trail map, consider the specific needs of your outdoor adventure, including the level of detail required, the scale of the area covered, and any specific features or landmarks you need to navigate effectively.

Product description
The Spanish settlers of California began construction missions in 1769 from San Diego north to Sonoma for nearly sixty years. Their enduring architectural legacy stands as one of the deep cultural landmarks of California's rich history. The signature red tile roofs and whitewashed walls make these missions uniform aesthetically, and they were constructed approximately thirty miles apart, which was roughly a day's journey by horseback. The iconic Mission Bells also make these grand structures stand out.
Published with both the mission trail as well as each of the twenty-one missions detailed on the insets, this map allows the viewer to develop a complete mental image of the significance and accomplishment that the completion of this undertaking meant to the Spanish missionaries and their acolyte's.
Compiled and illustrated by noted American geologist William Newman this depiction also details the significance of Spanish Friar Miguel Jose Serra, who founded and oversaw the construction of the first nine missions. Serra was beatified in 1988 and canonized in 2015 for his missionary efforts throughout Spanish territories.
The Missions Trail is famous among religious tourists as well as fans of historic structures and architecture and follows the original Camino Real, which is located near present-day Highway 101. These missions still operate today with tours as well as Mass conducted each Sunday by Franciscan friars and provide An indelible link to the past. The distinctive aesthetic of this map immediately transports the viewer back in time and is truly an authentic piece of cartographical history.
Our museum quality giclee print comes printed with archival ink on premium heavyweight matte paper. Shipped in a sturdy cardboard tube your print will arrive ready to be framed. This eye-catching vintage map reproduction print makes the perfect gift for anyone that loves history and imagery.
