User questions & answers
Question: | Is the vacuum motor loud |
Answer: | It is loud but not as loud as a normal vacuum cleaner. |
Question: | Where can i find the disposable pad for this? store where i bought the vacmop from doesn’t have them (walmart) and i can’t find them on amazon either |
Answer: | The 10 pack of disposable pad is available for purchase on Amazon by searching B0864PPKV3. If you are experiencing any issues with ordering pads or solution, Shark product specialists can be reached at 1-877-581-7375 Mon.-Fri. 10 a.m.- 7 p.m. ET, Sat. 9 a.m.-6 p.m. ET |
Question: | Does it clean the grout between tiles |
Answer: | The vacuum does pull the dust and debris from the grout, but it’s not a magic wand: it is a wonderful tool that serves well between major cleanings. I don’t believe this was intended as a work horse |
Question: | Is there a reusable pad option |
Answer: | MY opinion, but a reusable pad option for this item is a wet mop. A pain to use and defeats the purpose of this useful device. When it's pad gets too dirty to clean, you throw it out. Can light vacuum before wet cleaning. Also, you can get down on your hands an knees with a sponge and bucket. Disposable pad is part of the name for this device. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Will the Shark Steam pocket mop clean grout from wear and tear on my ceramic tile floors |
Answer: | I don't see that Bissell has a model #1906 but there is a 1806 so I will assume you are referring to it. I had the original blue 1940 model for 3.5 years before it stopped working due to a bad thermal fuse. Since it was no longer covered by the 2 year manufacturer's warranty through Bissell, my husband was able to fix it by replacing the fuse but in the meantime, while he was ordering the correct fuse, I replaced it with the Bissell purple pet #19404, only because it was $10 cheaper than the blue #1940 at the time. The purple #19404 is the EXACT same mop as the blue #1940 but the blue #1940 comes with one scent of fragrance discs (Spring Breeze) and the purple #19404 comes with "Odor Eliminating" discs for people with pets. Here are some of the differences I see between the 1806 and the 1940 (and the purple pet #19404): Power cord length: 1940 (and purple pet 19404) = 23 feet. The cord on the1806 =25 feet Water tank: 1940 (and purple pet 19404) = holds 15 oz. and is removable to fill (and empty) at the sink. 1806 holds 19 oz. and is built into the mop. Must be filled using the provided water cup and I guess you have to turn the mop upside down over the sink if you need to empty the water tank. The 1940 (and purple pet 19404) has 3 steam levels (High, Medium and Low) whereas the 1806 only has 2. Fragrance discs: 1940 (and purple pet 19404) = discs fit into a mesh pocket on the inside of the mop pad. 1806 = discs can either go into the mesh pocket on the inside of the mop pad or into a tray located on the top of the mop foot. Probably the biggest difference is the "spot boost brush" on the 1806. The 1940 (and purple pet 19404) = have a flip down brush on the back of the mop. 1806 = has a removable "wand" with the brush on the end. (You can search the Bissell 1806 on YouTube and see it demonstrated in one of Bissell's videos. Bissell may also have a demo video on their official website if you look on the product page for the 1806.) I rarely ever use the flip-down scrub brush on my 1940 (or 19404) models since I don't usually have anything on my floors that needs scrubbing (no kids or grandkids in the house leaving sticky messes) so I don't find the removable wand with the spot boost brush appealing or necessary for my needs. I'd rather have the removable water tank the 1940 (and purple pet 19404) offers for the benefit of easy filling and emptying. I've had my 1940 for almost 7 years (and the 19404 probably 3.5 years) and I LOVE them. I would not hesitate to buy another one whenever these finally die. |
Question: | are the cleaning pads reuasable/washable |
Answer: | I like to have the bonus of a cleaner as well. The easy work-around is to lightly spray the area to be cleaned with a diluted spray cleaner formula of your choice. Then the steam action helps the cleaner to work. Only use a touch of cleaner as the heat will mean more fumes in the area and that would be dangerous in excess. Understand too that cleaners are far too concentrated to begin with. I always cut mine with water and get 2 bottles for the price of one. |
Question: | i have arthritis in my fingers....is the "trigger" hard to pull? Do you have to hold the trigger? Is this hard for someone 80 years old to use |
Answer: | A "weak spot" for many laminates that involve click-lock or tongue-and-groove wooden boards is the seams where these boards meet. Unless you have something like a Pergo floor in which you glued the seams after laying each row, the steam may penetrate and cause swelling of the wood below the "fake wood" surface. Flooring installers call this type of swelling/warpage "cupping" and a user introducing this kind of moisture would void the warranties I've read. (Disclaimer: DIY person who has installed several brands of flooring.) |
Question: | Can the steam mop clean ground in dirt out of the tile grout |
Answer: | If you mean after multiple cycles in the washing machine, the pads don't look brand new anymore. I do bleach them in the wash, but to the mops credit, it picks up so much filth they can look a little grey. But they ARE clean. If you're asking how long they last during a cleaning... I mop a large area like the kitchen, then I pick it up and peek under the mop to see how much I've picked up. If it's COVERED in dirt I change it, if I can still see the white of the pad I keep going. Hope that helped! |

User questions & answers
Question: | HOw high can you reach with the hose and wand |
Answer: | The wand with attachment is about 3 feet and the hose can be expanded another 6 to 8 feet. We have no problem using the hose attachment to clean furniture, stairs (up to 6 steps without moving) and ceilings. |
Question: | Does it have a light |
Answer: | No, mine doesn't, but I love it! |
Question: | where do i buy replacement for the hepa filter |
Answer: | Best place is the Dyson web site, that way you know that you are getting the real thing rather than a cheap knock off that resembles the original but is not a real HEPA. Register your vac while you are there and they periodically have special discounts for owners of their products. I just replaced my 15 year old DC14 with one of these Multi Floor Origins 20% off $299 (retail price) owner discount and had just registered the DC14 it is replacing lol. |
Question: | Is this vaccume bagless or not |
Answer: | Yes, it is bagless. It comes with a removable cannister that you clean out occasionally. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Because of the great suction has anyone noticed that their medium to high pile carpets are getting worn or fuzzy |
Answer: | This vacuum works on all types of flooring: laminate, tile, wood, marble, travertine, etc. I have never had a problem with it scratching. |
Question: | Can the brush roll be turned off |
Answer: | I ordered the $24.99 blue version. I honestly can not say why there's a price difference between the 3 models offered as they, to me, appear to be the same in all respects but color when I study their photos (noticing that the listed attributes do not change at all between models). I can say that I am so very pleased with my $24.99 / blue vacuum because it does exactly what I bought it for (tiled floors &low pile throw rugs) and taking advantage of the hand-held changeability is huge (***** great at sussing "stuff" out of cracks between stove & cabinetry, and snatching creepy-crawlies off the ceiling) |
Question: | How a about pet hair |
Answer: | It looks like it should stand up to a number of gentle light cleaning/brush-offs and several washes, but it would be convenient to have at least one spare, so I can use that while the other one is drying. Be careful, there are a number of Bissell featherweight vacuums, and they take different filters. Bissell part number 1611508 is hard to find, but with the part number in hand, I found my local vacuum repair shop was able to order it ($4.99, no s&h), and I was able to order it from Bissell.com ($3.75 +$5.95 s&h) and partswarehouse.com ($4.99 & $5.98 S&h) |
Question: | What is the difference between the "standard brush roll" and the "gentle brush roll" on this model? I have tile, carpet, & wood floors |
Answer: | No, there is no roller brush. It just has an opening for suction. |

User questions & answers
Question: | How does the Roller work on carpet and can I lift the roller up |
Answer: | The roller works great on carpet. No you cannot lift the roller up. |
Question: | Hi, I just purchased this vacuum, what is the correct filter replacement for this vacuum |
Answer: | There are about three filtration systems in the Shark. The replacement schedule varies for each filter. Most of the filters can be rinsed, dried and replaced. The premotor filter should be replaced every year. The post motor filter should be replaced every 3 years. Replace the HEPA filter yearly. This is probably the most important one. You don't want to discharge dust back into the air. In this case I believe in using only Shark filters. There are a lot of pretenders out there. The web site is sharkclean.com. I recommend it. You Old Geezer |
Question: | Current Shark clogs all the time with pet hair--needs frequent cleaning. How does this model compare |
Answer: | Not nearly as much as my older Shark. However, pet hair does tend to collect in the pinion mounts of the front roller and it will stop that roller until the hair is cleared - will happen about every 3 months if used 3-4 times weekly. We have a Goldie and a tabby cat. The Golden's fur is not a problem. It is the fine hair from the cat that gets into the very small pinion points. |
Question: | How do the fins compare to regular brush roller? If they’re just plastic, Could they break off |
Answer: | The plastic on the roller is rather supple. It's not a hard plastic that might easily break off. And by the way, I love this vacuum. It has amazing suction, and the roller seems to polish hard floors. |

User questions & answers
Question: | why cant it be mailed to my address |
Answer: | It cant be mailed to my address also. I wonder why. |
Question: | Is this pet safe |
Answer: | I have two dogs never been a problem Don't recall any pet warnings on package |
Question: | Does this work on all Shark Steamers |
Answer: | It definitely does not. The Shark Steamer that I purchased from Amazon says putting anything other than water (preferably distilled water) will ruin the machine. Amazon should not show that this item is often purchased with the steamer (as it does above) because it is very misleading. |
Question: | Is this bottle reusable? I can't find my mixing bottle |
Answer: | It can easily be done~ (: Boil water in pot & while still on stove place the opening end (that doesn't open:) of bottle into the boiling water. Move entire opening end around for a couple mins. & then pull it out. Next~ using a dry or damp wash rag immediately try twisting & opening. If it doesn't easily open, then repeat the process. It should open now~ I've done this many times with different bottles, including this one for my own diy cleaner & it's always worked. All credit given to Pinterest! Gotta LOVE that site! |

User questions & answers
Question: | Does it pick up paper clips |
Answer: | no, YOU pick up the paper clips..vacuums are not made for picking up paper clips.. |
Question: | How do you clean the filter |
Answer: | There is a HEPA filter in front of the vacuum, you lift the door from the bottom and you can take it out and wash it. and then you lift the canister out from the base ( like you're emptying the canister of dirt.) You will find 2 foam filters there. lift them both out and wash those too. Just dont throw in washing machine or dishwasher. I use dish detergent and wash them off in the sink. Just make sure they are completely dry before putting them back on the vacuum. After a dozen or so washings they will break down ( you will know this ) extra filters can be purchased on EBay or Amazon or other websites. I usually clean the foam filters when they are a very dark brown or gray color, then i also wash the HEPA filter also. Good luck! Here a PDF file that tells you all about the shark vacuum .Page 13 & 14 tell you how to clean the filters . http://prcind.com/user_manuals/NV351-FS.pdf |
Question: | What is the difference between Shark NV 352 and the NV |
Answer: | The 352 has a 25 foot cord, the 356 (professional) is 30', the hard floor tools are different. The 356 has a microfiber 'dust pad' that goes over the hardwood floor attachment. The 352's hard floor attachment has a 'V' shape to funnel debris no pad, but it does have a duster attachment both available to purchase separately. The dust cup on the 356 is larger and the overall machine is 2 lbs heavier then the 352. 356 also comes with a bag for the tools where my 352 did not. The other tools all appear to be the same on both models. They both run the same amps and can be converted into canister mode as well, but are aesthetically different. |
Question: | Why is the little rectangle on the side sucking in so much air and causing it not to work |
Answer: | I can answer that question specifically because it happened to me and caused me to give this vacuum an erroneously poor review. My shark lasted for just under four years and was amazing. THEN it started sucking air like crazy though that rectangle and suction dropped by 80%. I did everything to fix it ... cleaned all the filters, checked all the hoses ... nothing fixed it. I was about to put it to the curb for the garbage man when something told me to check it out one last time. Well to make a long story short ... if you open your dust canister, there is a conical thing in the middle with mesh screen sides. That mesh was clogged with dust/dirt. On a hunch I cleaned it with a toothbrush (extremely difficult and awkward job) and guess what? The suction is back 100% and my Shark is back like when it brand was new. NOTE WELL. NOWHERE in the manual does it suggest that this area should be cleaned. I hope this answer is not too late for you. |
