Answer:	No, the lid connects to the container in the back. The lid is assembled by Rubbermaid. It would be removable if you disassembled it, but that would take a while.

Answer:	Agree, as long as the top is closed and wind doesn't blow it open (which has never happened to us), the container is weatherproof. It's very similar to the big trash cans provided by refuse services.

Answer:	It is removable. It has two screws on either side of the lid. I don't think it can just pop off and though. The lid does flip all the way back to hang upside down and flush with the back of the container.

Answer:	Well i can not say for sure if this trash can is rat proof or not. I will say that this can is great and very heavy duty, as our trash guys are everything bit gentle. I suppose if you put something heavy on top of the attached lid to hold it down it would be very hard for something like a rat to get in the can. I bought two of these cans they work grwat for all my needs. I hope this answer finds tou and helps with tour needs.

Answer:	Not certain - I am using mine on back deck and have not had that issue yet. My lid seems to be very solidly attached. Recommend contacting company directly.

Answer:	I have mine hung (used for dog poop) on the garage wall. It has gotten a little water in it during a hurricane, but normal rain has not gotten in.
Question:	This compost bucket collects and distributes fruit fly larvae like crazy. How are they getting in? Before I write a review, what do we do
Answer:	Keep this on my counter with a compostable bag to collect food waste. I drilled several small holes in the top to allow air in and keep odor free. I empty once a week and wash out with vinegar and water and dry thoroughly ... have not had a problem with fruit flies. Do have fruit flies in other areas - use the vinegar with a few drops of dish detergent to catch them

Question:	Does this snap together when it is compact? I bought it expecting it would but we cannot get it to stay together
Answer:	Get some self wrap Velcro or off brand hook loop tape to make a strap or double strap for this. When not wrapped around it to hold together firmly you can find other uses for the straps and or wrap around the legs to help hold the bag in place. I love the self wrap hook and loops and really some of the off brands in colors here on Amazon work well for this. Only Velcro brand however sews well. The cheap knock offs have a glue holding the thin hook and the loop back to back to make the self wrap work but the rub is the glue is soft enough it gums up your sewing machine needle. I finally gave up and just use the non velcro for projects such as this where no sewing is needed. We were introduced to this stuff when our folding full size bikes arrived with some helping to stablize the bike parts in shipping and in the folded position. Been a fan ever since 2005. Have it in white, black, blue, red, yellow, green, and from 3/4 inch to 2 inch size. My favorite however is Velcro because I can sew with it too and it always sticks some of the cheaper ones well stick ok but you may need to cut them a bit longer to insure they have a few inches even three to four to stay together. There's always large wide shoe laces from the Dollar store to use as ties too though.

Question:	what country is rubbermaid made
Answer:	No, it does not lock. NO a lock could not be installed in any manner that would not indicate you might live in a trailer. The lid opens with a foot step pad, so unless your dog figured out how to step on the pad, OR tip the whole can over(mine can't) your garbage would be safe.

Answer:	This is the Rubber Maid "Slim Jim " item and there is a "slim jim" lid for vented "slim jims" available on amazon from Hugo's lines.Cost is an unbelievable $40. Had to return as the lid extends about an inch on each side. Sturdy, but too large.
