Answer:	Yes. Before the lid opens, yes before and not after, there is a button on the right of the sensor that says open. Depress the open button and it stays open until you depress the close button on the left of the sensor.

Answer:	You can open it manually, but the handle is so tiny, that it is a bother and if the cover is still engaged it fits back when you try to open it. Not a good design. ...and by tiny, I mean really small, if your hands are wet, you will not be able to open it.

With the hairdryer method, I was able to get it 100% off cleanly.

I kept the larger can which came in the set and then bought one like the one you're asking about/ They both have the same system of holding a plastic bag in place as I mentioned in the first sentence.

You are probably in possession of a TS1810 A/V Advanced PowerStrip and they do look similar. What you are experiencing is the Multi-Sensor needs to relearn the normal power profile of your TV. Unplug the TV and the Multi-Sensor. Reconnect after 1 minute. Use your IR remote control to activate the Multi-Sensor (blinks Red). Then turn on your TV. Let TV come up to full brightness / change inputs - we want the Multi-Sensor to learn the normal power draw of your TV here. Turn off the TV. Let the Multi-Sensor turn off the switched outlets - about 2 minutes and it will blink red/blue during shutdown sequence. Once the switched outlets have turned off, the Multi-Sensor will have learned the normal power draw of your TV.
