Answer:	The rack is covered by a clear lacquer. It would take some sanding to rough it up enough to successfully hold a paint job. I do not believe it could be stained.

Answer:	Well it depends of course in the fabric of the skirt, but yes, it has caused indents on a few of my skirts. However, it has been nothing damaging, and not more than an inch to an inch and a half in size. Not to mention its by the top of the skirt and the shirt should hopefully cover it up. ;)

Answer:	I believe it can. The hanging hooks that are on it already are positioned so that it hangs horizontally. But if you positioned it on the wall in a vertical way, you could just place hanging nails at the joints. I don't see why that wouldn't work. In fact, I intend to buy another and hang it vertically behind a door.
