I thought the slight difference in the shelf front might bother me (I'm pretty particular), but I don't even notice it now that the shelves are loaded. Total distance from the wall is about 12 1/4 to 12 5/8". |

I think that the confusion has arisen because the basket comes flattened out and inside of a plastic container that has rope handles around it. The plastic container is for transporting the basket when the basket is collapsed (flattened). So the rope handles are NOT on the basket itself. |

In fact, we did our whole closet in the closet maid system (header rail with vertical supports that latch on) before we realized that the tie pull-out would only fit on the rubbermaid shelves. So we ended up using 1 Rubbermaid shelf where we wanted the tie pull-out and closet maid everywhere else. This particular pull out won't work on the closet maid shelf because it depends on the front support hooking into the front of the rubbermaid shelf. The front of the rubbermaid shelf has a smaller "hook front" than the closet maid shelf does. Hope this makes sense.... We could not get it to work and are very happy with the compromise.... |

| Answer: | yes your closet is deep enough for the rubbermaid system as 24 inches is pretty standard. The rubbermaid shelving is only 13 inches deep. I am really pleased with mine and have them in all of our closets now. You can adjust them quite a bit to fit your needs. |

| Answer: | Thank you for your interest in Rubbermaid products. The clips are drilled into the side walls and shelves are nested into the slot. The "tubes" are actually the brackets that attach to the front lip of the shed and then into the back wall. In the photo they are unbent which is why they look a little strange. |
