Answer:	Well, you can achieve both. This is a waffle maker as this makes the outside of the food crunchy, and the inside soft. But you can turn down temperate gauge to lower setting and eliminate the crunchy outside. If you want pancakes, I would also use less batter on each pour. Hope that helps.
