We typically do not recommend cooking meat in the original plastic packaging that it arrives in, and alternatively suggest a food-safe plastic bag. Question: What is the temperature range? can i set a precise temp? how? for example to keep soft boiled eggs (in the shell) at constant temp for a long time
Answer: I haven't experimented with eggs, but I would suggest that you download the ChefSteps Joule App onto your phone, and then you can look at all the things within the app. I just looked up eggs, and aside from a bunch of recipes, you can go to the "Heavenly boiled eggs" recipe and set the temperature, which is variable depending on what you want. For example, their favorite is 194° which gives "tender whites and creamy yolks". I don't know how long you can keep them "at temperature", but at the end of the cooking time the app always tells you how long you can leave it. The app mentioned removing the eggs when done, so maybe you can't leave them as you can with meats, etc.
Question: The magnet doesn’t work on any of my pots except the cast iron. Is it normal
Answer: Yes. Take a magnet and see if it sticks to your pan. It won't stick to stainless steel or aluminum but we have some pans that have iron in the bottom layer it will stick to. We use the clip most of the time. Rule of thumb is that if a regular magnet won't stick the Joule won't stick.

How to Use the AuAg Sous Vide Cooker?

1. Seal food in a vacuum bag, and place them in a water bath, 2-3 gallons of water for best performance.

2. Plug in power adapter(safe circuit breaker included) to Sous Vide and clamp on to water bath.

3. Press and hold the ON/OFF button for 3 seconds and then the display will turn on.

4. Press and hold “Menu” button for 3 seconds to access the 30 preset food programs, for example beef, foie gras and much more. Scroll with +/- OR scroll wheel under the LED touch panel, useful option if hands are wet from cooking.

5. For manual settings, press and hold temperature button for 3 seconds to set temperature, scroll with adjustable turn dial for faster results.

6. For manual control on timer, press and hold temperature button for 3 seconds to set desired cook time.

Question: Can the spud code touch the bottom of the container? Because the clamp doesn’t hold, it just slides all the way down
Answer: Andrew, my ceiling is sloped and it is 11-ft where we put the ceiling fan. It only comes with a short down rod. I did purchase a longer down rod from a local distributor. I think it is 2 ft, but I can't remember exactly. It was under $20. The fan is great. Our electrician used everything that came with the fan even with the ceiling sloped and it works perfect. Only have to purchase a longer down rod. You must get the casablanca down rod. The others from the big box stores will not work properly. Hope this helps.
Question: Has anyone found a container and lid combo that fits this sous vide
Answer: I have purchased two of the model #59511. This ( 59511) is an updated number for the #C66U454B. On my fan search, I noticed many numbers that were interchangeable.If you purchase a fan, make certain it is a Casablanca - great quality and runs quiet. If you don't need the light kit - leave it off. Much cleaner look. Hope that helps.

Answer: I'm not sure what is fetherwood but the blades are certainly not reclaimed veneer. BTW, 2 of the 3 fans that I ordered did not work, but Casablanca made it good.

Answer: Max temp is 197. 203 is getting very close to boiling, so there's likely an issue with keeping water that hot without heating the element to a level that would cause flash steam inside the cooker.

Answer: We have not used the app and have cooked many things. We really forgot or didn't realize there was an app. I knew there was an app that showed recipes, maybe that is the one. But, yes cook app and WiFi free.
Question: Is there a maximum size larger than 50 liters for a covered insulated cooler setup with this 1000 watt sous vide cooker
Answer: The limit is determined by initial water temperature, food mass, and thermal losses. If you are asking because you want to cook a larger volume of food than will fit into a 50 liter insulated container, then you should probably be looking for a commercial unit with a larger heater (maybe 3 to 5KW). If you are interested because you happen to have a larger insulated cooler and want to use it to cook at modest temperatures (below 160°F), then I would run a thermal test on your cooler by filling it with 160°F water, instrumenting it with a type K thermocouple (or a few) and watch how fast the water temperature drops with no added heat. A 1KW sous vide cooker will supply 3413 BTU/hr and 50 liters of water is approximately 53 lb and thus a 1°F temperature drop is a 53 BTU thermal loss and if the temperature drops by more than 30-35°F in the first hour, then you have too much loss to actually cook in that container since you need 500W to do the cooking while the rest of the power goes to makeup for losses. You can scale this to whatever size container you want to test so long as you leave 500W available to heat the food after offsetting the conductive and convective losses.
