Question:	How much oil does the measuring spoon hold
Answer:	With the cover on, it is 14" high. The diameter is 6.5". It you take the cover off and store it in a cabinet, the height is 9.5".

Answer:	I'm not sure about the plastic chute, but the inside of the container is metal. This is where the heating occurs and popcorn is placed. I'm assuming that the only area that is plastic and may contain BPA is the plastic top, but the popcorn only touches it for a brief second as it descends the chute into your bowl. I'm sure there is very little exposure to BPA if the plastic even contains it. Answer:	Currently, there are six for sale on Ebay which were made in the USA, including the same model I use (still) to make great popcorn, which I bought in 1996; made in Eau Claire, WI by Presto Industries. Answer:	We have been using this popcorn popper for years to roast our coffee. For us, the popper lasts 9-12 months. Because it runs so much hotter (and longer) than with popcorn, the fan and mechanical pieces wear out faster. You can tell when the popper is near the end of its life when you have a hard time keeping all the beans a consistent roast. After years of using this model (and 3-4 poppers) we've become experts. Everything else people say about roasting beans is true as well. Do it outside, don't leave it alone and cool the beans quickly. Obviously we love this popper for our bean roasting since we keep buying new ones when it wears out. Answer:	Yes there are a few left over kernels with a 1/4 cup. It will take a few test runs with your microwave to figure out the right amount of time to cook for. I have found if you microwave the bowl for a minute, then put the kernels in and microwave again, you get a better result (less unpopped kernels. Finally, I would never have guessed this, but different brands of kernels yield different results. I was buying trader joe's and sprouts kernels and was happy but then tried pop secret jumbo kernels and was blown away. Jumbo Kernels had 2 or 3 unpopped kernels vs 10 to 12 and were fluffier.

We have received silicone samples that did not turn white when pinched and were in no way safe to use in the microwave. They claimed to be 100% silicone but were probably more rubber than anything else. We rely on something a little more scientific than a "pinch-test". The deluxe bowl and stir rod section can be put in the dishwasher top shelf, but only the bowl of the regular popper can be put in the dishwasher. The rod on the deluxe is not removable.

Answer:	I would say the bottom is NOT dishwasher safe. The top should me. The thing only takes a minute to clean using normal hand washing. Really as easy as can be. I don't bother with a dishwasher on this

Answer:	Yes, yes you can. I have done it in the past with no problems in the Stir Crazy. Popcorn feels a little different after it cools. That's about it.

Answer:	Out of the box? No. It has a thermal cutoff switch rated for 350F (you need 400-420 or so), so it will start to, but won't get you very far past first crack. What I did was put a piece of thin fiberglass cloth (and I mean the thinnest stuff you can find at a hobby shop for model planes) between the thermal cutoff switch and the bottom of the pan. What I will probably do is swap the thermal switch for one with a higher temperature rating. This is definitely an at your own risk, fire hazard sort of thing, but it seemed like a more reasonable thing to do than put a convection oven on top of it. Use it outside on concrete. There will be smoke and coffee chaff. Give it an occasional shake too, don't rely on the stirring rod or you won't get an even roast, but I'm doing 3-4 scoops at a time and it's working really well.

Answer:	There is a recipe in the instruction manual for kettle corn. I assume it works, but I have never tried it.

Answer:	This is my first West Bend Popcorn popper. I come from a family where a bowl of popcorn is a mainstay. As my siblings and self have our own households & grown children now, this tradition has continued to be a strong part of all of us - flowing into generations. We have collectively gone through A LOT of poppers...electric, stove top, microwave, camping, fireplace... So, far this is the best that I have ever owned! In fact, I'm buying one for my sister for her birthday; when I showed it to her she was really impressed. It comes apart, so you can easily wash it (so all the oily crud doesn't collect anywhere). It's even dishwasher safe! The top feels a bit flimsy but I've dropped it didn't break or crack. It hasn't discolored or gotten cloudy. I think it's a good type of plastic for the job. It pops almost all the kernels. I only have 2-4 left without any burnt. (You do have to listen for the popping to stop.) Since you use oil, salt adheres without adding butter and most of the oil is splashed onto the top so it's not oily just moist, (unlike air poppers which tend to give you cardboardy or dry popcorn). I read reviews of another West Bend popper that has problems with the lid raising up; this one stays put. The outside of the base (which houses the heating element) doesn't get hot to the touch; only the popping plate that drops inside does so it's safe. The rod inside that stirs the popcorn lays close to the bottom without touching-stirs every kernel. I have scrubbed the plate without regard to the rod and it has never bent nor does it feel flimsy. I like that it has an on/off switch so that I can turn it on when I have it set up without dealing with trying to plug and then unplug it. Summary: Best popper I've ever had because pops everything, easy to use, fast clean up, safe.

Answer:	Hot air comes from bottom, and there is mesh at the bottom. No aluminum contact, however, I had to return because the popcorn burned. I made sure to use the suggested amount, but it still burned. Many kernels were left unpopped. Aesthetically pleasing look, however, not particularly well functioning. Answer:	I see the biggest difference is the motor. The older is 1450 which is a huge difference to this new one that states 1100.. I have been trying to find larger motor popcorn makers so I dont get chewy popcorn so I can't imagine how the newer model would cook better..
