Answer:	Both High and Low stabilize at the same temperature (209°F); it is just a matter of how long it takes to reach the simmer point. On High, it takes approximately 3-4 hours, whereas on Low, it takes approximately 7-8 hours to reach the simmer point. On the warm setting, your Crock-Pot® slow cooker will be between 165° and 175° Fahrenheit. Please remember that these are all approximate temperatures and they can vary depending on what you are cooking. The Crock-Pot® slow cooker can also boil on high and low. We recommend that you always fill your slow cooker at least ½ and no more than ¾ of the way full, including at least one cup of liquid or sauce. A simple direction for one would be:DirectionsRub your slow cooker lightly with 1 tablespoon butter or margarine.Pour in rice, water and salt.Cover and cook on High 1 1/2 to 2 1/2 hours, stirring occasionally.Note: Up to 4 cups raw rice may be prepared in slow cooker making 10 cups cooked.

Answer:	Mine doesn’t switch over to warm automatically. It turned off. Bought another, more reliable unit and gave this to a housewife down the street who will be around when this shuts down and can set it to warm if necessary.

Answer:	The exterior is metal with plastic for the handles and time/temp controls. The lid is glass with a plastic handle and metal rim. The interior pot is glazed ceramic. When cooking as directed, I’ve never had anything stick hard in a crockpot, and suspect it would take some serious effort to do that. Not even cooking stuff in barbecue or teriyaki sauce sticks hard. Everything has always washed off with little effort, and I always wash mine by hand. There’s a reason why glazed ceramic is so popular for prolonged cooking/baking, you know.

Answer:	You mean Proposition 65, right? The electronics in the unit would be enough to necessitate a Proposition 65 warning. Does the ceramic liner contain any appreciable amount of heavy metals, like lead? Hamilton Beach states that their ceramics factories are lead free. Indeed, all the online tests I've read indicate the Hamilton Beach glaze is lead free, and they pass strict manufacturing tests for lead leeching. Note that the glaze is the barrier between food and the earthenware ceramic container, and it is what is guaranteed to be lead free, and that is the important part.

Answer:	Did you set it on low? I haven't had the issue of it cooking too fast.

Answer:	Mine would not program or cook and after 30 days they would not let me return it. Black and Decker was absolutely no help.

Answer:	It does get pretty hot, but I don't think it is enough to burn. The last two slow cookers I have owned have been the same way, so I generally don't go touching them to see. If you have kids it is s important to keep the slow cooker out of reach just as you would a pot on the stove full of hot liquid.
Question:	Can i program this to turn on at a desired future time like having it turn on while i am at work. maybe 5 hours after i leave the house
Answer:	yes it does according to what I see on the box. I bought as a Christmas gift so I have not opened it but it is like the one I have and it comes our and the ceramic pot is dishwasher safe as is the lid.

Question:	For how many hours can I set the cooking time
Answer:	This item was a gift for my daughter, but I believe 'manual' means that you have to physically turn the knob to one of the settings. It does not automatically revert to warm because there is no timer. Hope this helps.
Question:	The crock insert seems to have a lot of wiggle room to it. I made chowder and as I was stirring it, the insert was moving around alot. Is this normal
Answer:	The Keep Warm setting is approximately 165 - 170 degrees F. Both the Low & High settings cook at 215 degrees F., but they cycle differently. Therefore, the High setting will still cook the food in a shorter period of time than the Low setting will. Please remember that these are all approximate temperatures and they can vary depending on what you are cooking.

Question:	Can I program this crockpot to begin cooking at a certain time
Answer:	You don't need delayed start when it has the Warm function. It doesn't continue cooking like it would if left like on Low. On Warm it just sits there, not spoiling, not cooking anymore, ive never pushed it past like a day but I've let it stay in overnight after it had sat cooking all day and the next day the food was just as good.
Question:	Will this continue cooking if a brief, 2-3 second, power outage occurs while it is on
Answer:	If your talking about the "ceramic crock" that you place your food in then yes, its removable. It is also microwave-safe and oven proof.
Question:	How hot does the outside surface get while cooking
Answer:	Sorry Kim, but you can't set this cooker to turn on later in the day. For the meals that I cook in this unit that's never been a problem--for example, a pot roast that requires a 6-hour cooking time on the low setting will still be perfect after 8 or 10 hours because there's simply no evaporation to allow the food to dry out. If you're making a casserole that only needs to "bake" for a couple hours, and you want to serve after an 8-hour workday, you'll need to use the timed feature on your regular oven. I'm not aware of any slow cookers that have a delayed start feature for that very reason; they simply don't allow food to dry out. So as long as you cook your food for the minimum required time, extending the length of cooking time for hours, even, is never a problem. This slow cooker will automatically switch to the warm setting after the cook time that you programmed has elapsed, or the probe registers that the food is cooked. I've used quite a few different slow cookers, and this one (and its' smaller cousin) are by far my favorites. If you spent 10 times the amount of money, this would still be the best slow cooker of all, in my opinion.
Question:	What are the temperatures? I'm looking to incubate yogurt at 110 F
Answer:	Look at other slow cookers, not many have what you'd call a tight-fitting lid. It's usually just a thin glass lid that can rattle a bit when cooking on Highl. I have an earlier HB Stay or Go non-programmable model with a hole, no probe, no problems. There's no stream of steam that escapes, nothing seems to come out of it, even cooking on High.
