Answer:	Typical of many small appliances, when brand new they emit an odor as result of dust, etc burning off the coils... This smell can be plastic-like and is unpleasant but not generally harmful. I always darkly toast a few 'throw away' slices of bread when first getting a new toaster--then toast the ones planned to eat. The toast should have no metallic or plastic taste to it then and the appliance's odor should fade to nothing within a weeks daily use or so. If not, definitely return it to manufacturers!!

It toasts both side equally when on TOAST setting and toasts both side equally when on BAGEL setting. Bagel setting reduces darkness of toast by approximately 1/2 setting. Piece of crap if looking to toast bagels as I was. I have no idea why a bagel setting would toast both sides - pointless and deceptive marketing. Anyone know of a toaster that does a good job of toasting only one side of bagels, English muffins, etc.?

Answer:	Yes, all of it is top shelf safe, but I've never had to put the mechanical part into the dishwasher...just give it a quick rinse or wipe. This spinner is nicer than the other rounder, more expensive OXO spinner....I've had them both. Highly recommend this one!

Answer:	The slots on my toaster measure 5 and 1/4 inches long and 1and 6/16ths inches wide. I solved the problem of wide pan multi-grain breads by cutting the piece in half and using both slots. Worked for me because I was just making toast for breakfast anyway and did not need it to be in one piece.

Make sure to put it on the setting you want though, because if i use the lowest setting for bagels-which is not enough-and then put it in for a second cycle, it will burn. Put it on the number that matches how dark you like your bagel, push down the lever, select bagel, and one cycle does it. You will need more if your bagel is frozen before toasting. I have had this toaster for at least 10 years, if not longer, and mine does not have a defrost setting.

Answer:	I measured the width + the length across the bottom. The top part has slightly sloping edges, so, measurement may not have been accurate for storage purposes. Length-11" + height-8".As far as 'pros + cons', there's one thing in addition to what was in my previous review of the product. It's weird, as bread is bread and toasted is toasted, but, it tastes so much better! The bread seems more porous, or something. This makes it really good and 'catches' whatever topping that you put on your toast.I am VERY satisfied and glad that I picked this toaster. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!

Answer:	One of our bread supports broke within the first month of using our toaster. We can still use it, but sometimes the bread gets stuck. I would not recommend this toaster. It's not very sturdy. Unfortunately, we will be looking for another toaster soon.
