Answer:	Brown yes. Crispy pretty much. Better than oven but not like deep fryer. Olive oil skin and salt & pepper. Mix a stick of butter with thyme, sage & rosemary. Lift skin up off breast and spread half on each side, then put skin back in place. Breast side up. Tuck wings under. Stick thermometer in breast, set at 450 with cover on. Should take about an hour to get to 130 for a 15lb bird. Don't peek... use the thermo. Go to 130, turn off power, uncover and let rest for 30 minutes.

Answer:	Probably. I’ve never done that but I can’t see what would hurt. Just make sure and follow directions on inserting pan saver. Preheat the roaster and use pot holders to insert the pan saver foil, then add your food.

Answer:	Majority of experienced cooks will reccomend never using the plastic liners with an electric roaster. Use the foil ones instead. The foil ones do not. That is why most cooks that have experience with electric roasters use the foil ones and not the plastic ones.

Answer:	Hi - I used 13 of these liners in 13 roasters at Thanksgiving. Yes, there was some leakage BUT the whole cleanup process was way better than scrubbing out baked on turkey without a liner. Not sure what you will be putting in the liners but they worked fine for turkey as there was only a bit of juice that leaked out.

Answer:	We use this at work a lot. With only one staff microwave, potlucks were difficult to manage until we started using this and other roasters people have and would bring in to ....(1) to heat up dishes for potlucks; (2) to bake dishes in aluminum pans, for example, lasagna from Costco; (3) baked foil wrapped potatoes for a baked potato pot luck. My neighbor did this also for a Christmas dinner 28 people were attending. One of my favorite things to prepare in this is a brisket. Yummmmy!

Answer:	You can definitely bake cakes in this oven using the following guidelines: • Baking pans should always be placed on the ROASTING RACK. Do not place pans on bottom of REMOVABLE ROASTING PAN. • Metal pans are recommended for use in the roaster as they provide better heat transfer and browning. The air flow around the cake will result in a delicious moist cake!

Answer:	You can’t. I have been trying since December 2017 and the correct one is NEVER in stock. They sold me a liner for a roaster/smoker and when I contacted them about the holes in the pan they said I shouldn’t use it in this roaster. I tried calling and the recording keeps saying a high volume of calls and to call back again. Just a few days ago their customer service tried selling me the smoker pan again. I have read where several others are experiencing the same thing. Oster is still selling the product so I don’t understand why they don’t have the liner.

HOW TO USE AND CARE FOR YOUR ROASTER OVEN 1. Unpack your Nesco Roaster Oven completely and remove all packaging material and information labels. Place the Roaster Oven in a well ventilated area on a heat resistant surface. Set the control dial to its minimum setting. Plug the cord into a 120 volt AC outlet. Return control to maximum setting (450-degrees F). Operate the Roaster Oven empty (without the cookwell or cover) for approximately 60 minutes, or until any odor or smoking disappears. Some smoke and odor are a normal part of "curing" the element and will not reoccur in cooking use. When curing is completed, turn the temperature control to its lowest setting, unplug the unit from the electrical outlet and allow to cool. 2. Wash the cover, cookwell and rack in warm sudsy water, then rinse and dry. Refer to complete cleaning instructions in manual. 3. Non-stick cookwell: When 'curing' your Roaster Oven with a non-stick cookwell, we recommend that it be operated with cover and cookwell. Do this in a covered outside area or other well-ventilated area. After curing and cleaning, and before cooking in your non-stick cookwell for the first time, lightly coat the interior of the cookwell with vegetable oil.



HELPFUL HINTS Preheat roaster oven for 20 minutes. Roasting meat in your Nesco Roaster Oven keeps it moist and tender. For additional browning, you can add 1 tbsp. browning sauce to oil and brush over skin before roasting. To sear meat, preheat Roaster Oven at 450-degrees F. Add margarine. Cover, then sear meat for 10 to 15 minutes per side until lightly browned. Stir ground meat once. Time will vary depending on the quantity of meat. Alternative browning method for self-basting turkeys, preheat at 400-degrees F for 20 minutes. Roast bird for 1 hour at 400-degrees F. Reduce heat to 350-degrees using included time chart, 13-18 minutes per pound. During last hour of roasting increase temperature to 400-degrees and remove all excess juices in bottom of cookwell.

Question:	I need one with a lid which seals well. Does the lid on this interlock with the rest of the unit or does the lid merely rest on the rim
Answer:	No. I'm not sure how the others saying "yes" define searing, but there is not enough heat on the bottom to sear. The heating element is only around the side walls, so the only heat on the bottom is what is conducted indirectly from the sides. After having the unit on 425 for 30 minutes, it will evaporate drops of water, but slowly (no rolling ball droplets that indicate searing temp). There is not enough heat to get a med-high sear as you would on a stovetop. I wish it stated more clearly that the element is only on the sides. I couldn't find that information on Amazon or Nesco's own site. I'm still looking for a true one pot solution that allows both searing and slow cooking without switching pans and/or appliances.

Answer:	The exterior of the lid has a red glaze. The interior looks like a buffed aluminum surface, though don't think it's a non-stick coating. It is, however, quite easy to clean.

Question:	About how big of a turkey fits in this roaster oven
Answer:	YES. I usually use 12 to 16 pound turkeys. I rub a coating of canola cooking oil on the skin, then put it in the pan upside down and season the back (a light sprinkling of Lawry's Season salt), turn it over (breast up now) and pour one cup of chicken broth over the turkey (1 cup of water and 1 chicken bullion cube does fine) and another cup of hot water just in the pan, so two cups of liquid are in the bottom of the pan now. Next, I put a little more oil on the top, rub that around, and then lightly season the breast side, too. This all takes only about 15 minutes of work.
Question:	How large a turkey will it hold
Answer:	Yes...former restaurant cook here. What I do is strain all of the drippings and pour them into a glass container like Kerr or Mason Jars and let stand for about 15 min. The clear fat will rise to the top. This makes gravy oily. Take off all of the fat with a baster (That's all I ever use a baster for). Put all of the ingredients back into the roaster and add stock, flavorings and other additions. Cook in the roaster on low and keep stirring. This roaster method frees up time for you to do other things in the kitchen. I like to use Wondra Flour or Cornstarch mixed in a little water for thickening. I've moved to that method and away from rouex (pronounced roo) to lower calories. If you are not concerned with that, make roux (for thickening gravy) by mixing about 3Tbs of melted butter with flour until you reach desired consistency and wisk into your stock. Be patient. Once the mixture heats up for a few minutes you will see it thicken. Keep adding roux, Wondra or cornstarch until your gravy is as thick as you want. You can refrigerate roux for about a month.

Answer:	I bought this for my Nespresso and it works fine but doesn't make a full cup of coffee. I think it is for Espresso.

Answer:	In the description is says it is for: Espresso Size 2.4oz (Capsule), that is, it makes 2.4 oz of coffee - an espresso serving.

Answer:	Yes, it does work, just note the size. This particular one is for espresso size cup. To get the foam, you must use fresh ground coffee as the oils in the coffee produce foam.

Answer:	So it really depends on your configuration of your condo. Listen 24,000 btus is allot of cooling power. You could always use a cheap $10 wallmart floor fan to push cool air to the back bedrooms....i did just that on another installation of this same unit in a separate house. The recirc system was just for a professional looking install but you can do the same thing with a cheap $10 wallmart fan. I really like these units as they are so efficient and quiet. The air recirc system i designed has nothing to do with this unit as its not wired into it or connected to it at all. All my recirc unit does is a fan register sucking cold air near where the inside blower is installed and it blows the cooled air thorugh the instulated duct crawl space in the roof and blows it back between the bedrooms as the cool air would have to travel from one wall the full length of the living room then hang a right turn in a hllway then another sharp right turn into another hallway then into the most distant bedroom......so thats allot to ask of one ca blower blowing cool air essentially in a U turn . But my recirc system solved that problem handily. by first blowing cooled air inbetween the 2 bedrooms then the air slowly moves the warmed air back into the living room to be cooled by this single unit blower and recirculated again. I wasnt too impressed with the heating capacity of this in the winter as a heat pump as with most heat pumps your essentially air conditioning the outside when its snowing out so there isnt much heat out there then your pulling whatever heat from outside back inside to warm you up so the colder it is outside the more this unit has to work to pump heat inside.......but with that said it works great when the temps outside are like in the 50's and 60's and you just want to take the chill off the air in the mornings. If its in the single digits or low teens outside.....your going to need a jacket in your house just saying or another heat source. No heat pump out there will keep you warm under those conditions
