Question:	is there a warranty if purchased used
Answer:	I have no idea, but I doubt it. Mine was purchased new. The info that came with the pedometer had a card that registered it and that you sent to the company. The warranty for a year was there. A used one would be missing that.

Answer:	It does not have an on & off switch. It doesn't need one. It's very similar to a liquid crystal wristwatch or bicycle speedometer - it uses very little energy to keep it going. The button cell battery is replaceable, however. I have used this model for 9 years and find that the battery (for me) lasts well over a year - sometimes two. I actually have more trouble with the plastic bracket that clips to a belt or clothing. I usually end up breaking it while I'm on vacation if I am not careful sitting down in an airplane seat or tour bus seat. Consequently, I usually buy them two at a time on Amazon to get the free shipping.
