Question: | Does the bread come out whole or does it have holes in the bottom |

Question: | I have all the ingredients in for my first loaf. How long does the "Rest" cycle last before it finally starts to mix |
Answer: | about 15 mins |

Answer: | Never added chocolate yet 😝 |
Question: | Can you make banana nut bread? What receipe do you use |
Answer: | There is not a recipe for banana nut bread in the recipe book that comes with this bread maker. I did try to make one using a recipe from the Internet (that claimed to work in bread makers) but it wasn't very successful. |

Panasonic Automatic Bread Maker
Providing myriad options, this automatic bread maker embodies the marvels of 21st century electronic convenience and choice. Yes, it mixes, kneads, rises, and bakes bread in three loaf sizes up to 2-1/2 pounds. But its digital controls go much further, offering settings for white, whole wheat, multigrain, and French (crisp crust, open texture) breads, each made according to what's best for that particular style. Other settings permit rapid baking and baking sandwich bread with a soft crust. For raisin (or other dried-fruit) bread, a beeper signals when to add the fruit so it's not crushed during kneading. Crust color--dark or light--can be selected as well.
The machine automatically adds yeast at the proper time from a dispenser on the unit's lid. It also bakes non-yeast, quick breads-- like banana and gingerbread--and sweet cakes. And it mixes, kneads, and rises doughs for pizza, focaccia, croissants, and other pastries without baking them. A timer permits the machine to be programmed up to 13 hours in advance so fresh bread or cake is available for breakfast or dinner. For cleanup convenience, the baking pan is nonstick. Clad in metal and packing 550 watts of power, the machine measures 14 inches wide, 13.5 inches high, and 9 inches deep. Its instruction booklet is exceptionally easy to understand and includes recipes for 40 breads and doughs along with an insightful guide to baking basics and illustrated tips for making pastries. --Fred Brack
From the Manufacturer
There's nothing quite like the warm aroma of freshly baked homemade bread from the oven. With the help of this user-friendly bread machine, even those with a busy, on-the-go schedule can enjoy this simple pleasure--without the time-consuming hard work normally associated with baking bread. Just add ingredients, press a few buttons, and it takes care of the rest. ![]() Soft-touch control panel with LCD digital display and 13-hour preset timer. |
Easily Bake Bread or Create Dough
Bake loaves of white or whole wheat bread for slicing and slathering with butter and jam or for making sandwiches. Create croissant or pizza dough for shaping by hand and baking in the oven. Make the classic fruitcake to serve during the holidays. From basic recipes to custom creations, the bread machine produces delicious results--and without the additives and preservatives found in store-bought brands. A recipe book with over 50 original bread and dough recipes comes included.
Customizable Settings
The unit's top-access, soft-touch, push-button control panel with an LCD digital display helps ensure easy programming. Choose from three different loaf sizes (medium, large, or extra large) and the crust color (light, medium, or dark). It also offers up to six different types of bread or dough options--Basic, Whole Wheat, Multi-Grain, French, Pizza, and Cake. Baking modes include Bake Only (great for fruitcakes, gingerbread, and teacakes); Rapid Bake (reduces the baking time of basic and whole-wheat breads); Raisin (offers an audible beep to signal when to add raisins, dried fruits, or nuts into the dough); and Sandwich (produces bread with a soft crust). Dough modes include Pizza, Rolls, and Raisin Dough. Best of all, the appliance comes equipped with a digital timer, which can be set up to 13 hours in advance--great for waking up to the smell of freshly baked bread. Or set the timer before leaving for work in the morning so that a warm loaf will be ready and waiting after a long day at the office. Simply slice it up and serve with dinner.

Healthy and Nutritious
Baking bread at home allows for ultimate control over the finished product. By using only the freshest ingredients and making choices between a variety of options, homemade bread can be an important part of a well-balanced diet--for both young and older family members alike. High in fiber and low in fat, bread contains a wealth of beneficial components. It provides complex carbohydrates needed for energy, protein for strong muscles, and vitamins and minerals, including calcium and iron for healthy bones and teeth. Add nutrient-rich eggs to the recipe or choose whole-grain flour for an extra boost of fiber, iron, vitamins, and minerals. Mixing in nuts and dried fruits not only add to the pleasing consistency and taste of the finished product, but they're also another way to add to the overall health factor.
![]() Yeast dispenser automatically adds yeast at optimal time to ensure perfect results. |
Ultimate Convenience
Thoughtfully designed, the bread machine also supplies a YeastPro automatic yeast dispenser. Just add a measured amount of yeast into the holder on the unit's lid, and the machine will automatically dispense the yeast in with the other ingredients at the perfect time for optimal results. Even more, the unit's inner bake pan comes fitted with a wire handle (use an oven mitt when hot) for easily removing it from the appliance when the bread has finished baking. The pan's nonstick coating allows baked bread to slide easily out of the pan onto a cutting board or a wire rack to fully cool for easier slicing.
![]() Inner bake pan offers built-in handle and nonstick coating for effortless bread removal. |
Unique Design for Professional Results
Unlike other bread machines, the unit does not offer a viewing window. The absence of a viewing window allows a more even reflection of heat inside the unit, which offers the following three advantages: excellent crust, good rising, and even color. The machine also benefits from a unique temperature-control program that automatically optimizes the temperatures and times for each stage of the process. Its comprehensive microprocessor program makes slight adjustments as needed to ensure perfectly baked bread regardless of conditions like climate and room temperature.

User questions & answers
Question: | Can it work on 220 50/60 hz |
Answer: | Absolutely not! If you are outside the USA or Canada, you will need to buy a 220/240-Volt adapter or you will burn up the machine. |
Question: | is it noisy |
Answer: | No, I do not think it is noisy. Obviously, you can hear it mixing the ingredients but it is not disturbing and the ones I've had before were much louder. There are beeping signals for different stages, but I would have liked them to be louder so they could be heard in other rooms of the home. I don't feel there's enough noise to bother anyone, even if you turn it on before bedtime. I hope this helps. |
Question: | how high is this machine |
Answer: | It is not high at all. I'm it's probabtion officer and I just gave it it's weekly drug test and it's totally clean. If you want to know how tall it is and/or it's overall dimensions then it is approx 12" x 9" x 14" deep. |
Question: | Are these things really worth having |
Answer: | I was asking this for 3-4 years before I bit the bullet and bought this one. This machine really is *excellent* - and it really does do everything save assemble the ingredients, which takes 5 minutes once you have a recipe you like. It saves me hours shopping for low-salt bread - I can make a loaf in an evening (takes around 3 hours). The basic wholewheat recipe with this machine is really good, especially if you add some mixed sunflower/poppy/etc. seeds for texture. If you just want a quick loaf, try Bob's Red Mill 10-grain bread mix available from Amazon - it's tasty, cheaper than a store-bought loaf (if you buy a pack of 4) -- although once you have tried 4-5 loaves, mixing your own is easy. Then you can relax for 3 hours while the machine does all the work. The only (slight) downside is that it is a lot of work to make rolls - you have to take the dough out, shape it, then leave it to rise. But this is so much easier & better than I had hoped, that's a small thing ... |
Question: | where can I find the instruction manual for the Just for Dinner West Bend breadmaker |
Answer: | Searched online and got the PDF of the full manual. http://ec1.images-amazon.com/media/i3d/01/A/man-migrate/MANUAL000003305.pdf |
Question: | I can not find my receipe book. Is there some where on line for me to get another |
Answer: | Go to the bottom of this WestBend listing: West Bend 41077 Just For Dinner Breadmaker (Discontinued by Manufacturer). There you will see a User Manual: download it. As well as the manual, it has recipes. The URL is: https://images-na.ssl-images-amazon.com/images/I/81t0Ux9i8aL.pdf |
Question: | When making raisin bread set on the speciality loaf setting, is there a timer/bell/noise that tells me when to add the dried fruit |
Answer: | I think there is, but i have never made raisin bread, or had to add anything.I don't really like this breadmaker much. I bought it at a yard sale for $5.00 and it was only used once or twice so was like brand new. I don't really like the consistency of the bread as it does not rise long enough. |
Question: | Can I make a gluten free small loaf of bread |
Answer: | I have made gluten free without any trouble. It's a great little machine. I am still really happy with my purchase |

User questions & answers
Question: | How many watts is this product |
Answer: | The plate on the bottom of the unit lists the watts as 550 with 110 current. Hope this helps. We have had our unit for about six weeks and are very pleased with its performance. |
Question: | Does it have a gluten free setting |
Answer: | It does! Our bread machine arrived 2 days ago. I took a pic of the GF multigrain recipe, left my daughter to read through the instructions, and dashed to the store to get ingredients. Three hours later, we were enjoying warm bread. Perfect GF loaf - absolutely the first time we've ever used a bread machine. Total time for a std 2 lb loaf of whole wheat is 4 hrs, 10 mins. The GF setting reduces time to 2 hrs, 15 mins so dough will not be overmixed or over kneaded. |
Question: | Does the machine have non skid feet |
Answer: | Yes, it has rubber feet. However, mine bounces about quite a bit when kneading. It's not great. |
Question: | What is the wattage of this appliance ? Thank you |
Answer: | 550 W |

User questions & answers
Question: | Has anyone know will the bread machine hurt your hands when you open it? Is it dangerous |
Answer: | The best, most accurate way to measure ingredients (especially flour) is by weight in GRAMS using a digital scale.A FANTASTIC tool for converting flour amounts to weights is at:http://www.traditionaloven.com/conversions_of_measures/flour_volume_weight.htmlUsing this tool you can enter any amount, even fractions, and get an accurate volume/weight conversion for every type of flour. You can get accurate conversions for any bizarre fraction you can think of. Using your 4 7/16 cups of bread flour as an example, the conversion calculator will tell you the correct weight is 563.56 grams. For another example, if your recipe called for 4 32/52 cups of bread flour, the conversion calculator will tell you the correct weight is 586.15 grams. |
Question: | Is this bread maker really designed in California |
Answer: | Yes it does have a dough cycle. I love this machine and make pizza dough. Danish pastry dough. focaccia dough, and French bread dough. The rest cycle allows any refrigerated ingredients to come to room temperature before mixing, that way the yeast is better activated. I’ve had the same model since 2012 (from Amazon) and I love it more now than I did when I first got it. |

User questions & answers
Question: | does this leave a hole in the bottom of the loaf, or does the blade retract befor baking |
Answer: | If you use the machine for baking, then yes, it does leave a hole in the bread. As this machine bakes a small loaf of bread and if baked in the machine, it has a hole in the bottom and is shaped similar to a chimney, I prefer to let the machine do everything other than bake the bread. After it is done mixing the ingredients, I take the dough out, shape it and bake it myself in the oven, just because of the aesthetics. The taste is wonderful no matter which way you decide to do it. |
Question: | Anyone have problems with over baked crust |
Answer: | We have only had our Mini Zo for 2 days. Baked 3 loaves yesterday. First loaf on "basic" and "regular" settings. Interior of loaf was very light and fluffy, but crust extremely crispy (making it very difficult to slice). Second loaf was the cheese and onion basic with light crust, to which was added 1 1/2 Tbsp drained, chopped, pickled jalapeños.. Cheese, onions and jalapeños were thrown all over, even outside of the bread pan, crust was VERY dark, and when sliced all of the add-ins were at the bottom 1/3 of the loaf, a terrible job of mixing! 3rd loaf was Yorkshire Spice Bread from "Quick and Delicious Bread Machine Recipes" by Norman Garrett, settings were "soft" with "light crust". Turned out quite well, except for the VERY dark crust. I wanted to be able to, at least occasionally 'set and forget' this machine for overnight baking of basic loaves, so setting a timer to remove the loaf early is not a practical solution for me. I am amazed at all the wonderful reviews for this machine (I absolutely did my research) when it cannot seem to produce a loaf with a decent crust, and am so disappointed in it that I hope Amazon will accept its return. |
Question: | trying to decide between the mini and the regular Zo, I'd like to use this machine to also rise dough- do you think it's big enough |
Answer: | It depends on the recipe. I bought the book "bread machine magic" as it has all recipes for small medium or large and I use all the small recipes which include dough recipes. I once tried a kolache recipe that was definitely either a 1 1/2 to 2 pound recipe on the dough cycle and it definitely had trouble kneading it and I had to transfer it in my kitchen aid mixer for the first 20 minute kneading cycle then I put it back in the zo as it does have the temp control for rising. Then it did not have any trouble kneading the second time because the dough was pliable at that point. You also cannot program so if you were to knead the dough then place it in the machine you have to let the machine run its course but there is a timed chart so you know about when everything happens. Anyway, if you stick with 1 pound recipes you pretty much will be able to make any kind of dough. |
Question: | I have problems slicing the bread, anyone have suggestions |
Answer: | Buy a great bread knife; it makes all the difference. I bought the Tojiro Bread Slicer 235mm F-737. It slices cleanly and easily through just about anything, warm or cold, hard crust or soft. I tried using a bread slicing guide, but just a little practice with my Tojiro knife produces as good or better results, and I never use the guide anymore. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Hi, Again. I am trying to decide between the Virtuoso and the Zojirushi Home Bakery Supreme 2-Pound-Loaf Breadmaker. This one is slightly smaller |
Answer: | I settled for the Home Bakery basically because the Virtruso was out of stock (probably from CoVid back order mess). My brother/in-law has the Virtruso and I must say, there isn’t hardly any difference with the motor, paddles, and overall functionality. There are many pre-programmed settings on the Virtuoso but nothing that justifies the significant price difference. If you want basic bread recipes and basic bread machine functions, save your money and stick with the Home Bakery Supreme. The Virtruso has @bellds and whistles” most people would never use. Just my opinion... I love my Zojirushi! I also own the mini-bakery 1 lb. loaf machine and it is great for short and quick order 1 lb. loaves! I love the compactness of this little machine. Great for apartment and smaller family living! Thanks for your great products, Zojirushi! 😊👍 |
Question: | Is it difficult to avoid getting the yeast wet? I'm considering upgrading to this from my Panasonic SD-YD250, which has a convenient yeast dispenser |
Answer: | I bought my Zojirushi in March of 2010. I make one to two loaves of bread a day -lots of bread. When I first started making bread 10 years ago in this machine, the bread failed more often than not. When I changed the order of adding ingredients, I rarely have failed bread; if it fails it's because someone has opened the machine during the baking cycle. I found the question of keeping the yeast dry 'if it was a problem' interesting. Here's why -It was a problem WHEN I was trying to keep yeast dry. Now, I add the water, sprinkle the yeast across the water, add flour, then add the rest of the ingredients on top of the flour in the corners. 10 years of making bread this way is surely a success. This bread maker has been the best. As of recent, I need to replace the paddles as the nonstick coating is gone. |
Question: | I'd like to hear from anyone with experience making artisanal style breads - e.g., baguettes, Italian breads, other long-rise breads |
Answer: | It's great for that. There are three programmable home made bread settings with rise times up to 13 hours. There are breads where I'll use two or three, setting a timer to go off when it's time to go to the next program. Right now I'm making olive oil-saffron ciabatta. I had it keep the saffron water warm for a half hour, then added the rest of the ingredients, and pushed the button for the kneading and rising times I had programmed. |
Question: | does it have a gluten setting |
Answer: | Yes it has a "Gluten Free" Setting. I have made several Gluten Free loves and they came out perfect. Pages 20, 21, 22, and 23 of the Users Manual contain an entire Chapter on "Gluten Free Course" including Gluten Free Recipes for Brown Rice Bread, Soymilk Bread, Cafe Au Lait Bread, Italian Herb Bread, Flaxseed Bread, Cornmeal Bread, Raisin Bread, Walnut Bread, Chocolate Bread and Apple Oat Bread. I have made Pamela's Gluten-Free Bread Mix and it came out great. It is available at Krogers or at Amazon at http://www.amazon.com/Pamelas-Products-Wheat-Free-Gluten-Free-19-Ounce/dp/B000DZFMEQ/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1362022167&sr=8-2&keywords=Pamela%27s+Gluten-Free+Bread . |

From the Manufacturer
Troubleshooting Tips:
When using the bread maker, please make sure that you first set the removable bread pan in the basin of the bread maker *BEFORE* inserting the kneading paddle into the bottom of the bread pan. Failure to do so can cause the kneading paddle to unseat itself when the bread pan is inserted and locked in to the unit. To insert the bread pan, follow the instructions in the use and care guide. Please pay specific attention to the snaps on the left and the right side of the bread pan. Both snaps need to engage to secure the bread pan into place. Failure to do so will result in an improper fit between the unit and the bread pan, causing noise and failing to knead the ingredients properly.

User questions & answers
Question: | Has anyone else have the pan keep popping up and then the paddle wont turn |
Answer: | You might check the brackets on each side of the bread maker and squeeze if too lose. The bread pan should snap into those brackets. You also might look down into the machine to see which direction the wing looking coupler is in and turn the coupler on the bottom of the bread pan to go over and sit firmly so the wing coupler can turn the paddle in the pan. Just my guess. My first machine needed the brackets squeezed together. |
Question: | gluten free breads |
Answer: | In regard to Gluten Free breads, there are mixes in the guide book with proper recipes for small cakes as well as loaf breads. I have NOT tried these, although if the ones I have are an indication, it will go well. After a few tries and some "Tweaking" I have done I think is My, I think, just over 100 shots with this rig, most ARE Loaf Breads. In closing hope this finds You well, and I see no glaring problems with Gluten free diets, don't be afraid of a "pinch" here or there methodology Go For IT!!......PEACE |
Question: | How do you remove the paddles before it bakes? By digging the dough out before it rises |
Answer: | I’ve used Breville and Cuisinart. At final knead, my Cuisinart beeps are 1:43 for my tecipe. Minimize disrupting the dough, I do not take mine out of pan, I think too much handling can cause flat concave top at times. Instead, just remove the bowl, tilt pan 90° so dough falls away from side, assist with fingers or rubber spatula if needed until paddle is exposed. Remove paddle, return pan to upright position and place back in machine. Dough will fall to center and rise nicely. You will now only have a small home in center of loaf bottom versus a large paddle hole in 3 slices. Enjoy! |
Question: | Is the bread pan teflon based or PTFE free ceramica |
Answer: | I emailed and called Cuisinart about this issue and was told "All of our nonstick coatings are at least a 2-coat system and pass extensive nonstick testing, including all standard FDA tests. All coatings are PFOA-free and the ceramic non-sticks are also PTFE-free. When this question was first asked in 2014, cookware was still made with PFOA, but in 2015 it became illegal to sell non-stick cookware with PFOA in the US and Canada. PTFE is considered safe as long as cooking temperatures are less than 450 degrees F. I have been unable to get a straight answer from Cuisinart on cooking temperatures for their bread machines. I was told it varies, depending on the setting. |
