| Answer: | There are several things you can do to minimize this delay - which arises from the camera having to automatically do the light metering and focusing when you press the shutter button. Sometimes my P300 has a longer than usual delay - usually when I am using a flash - like one to two seconds. It seems to be that the battery is low and it takes more time to charge the capacitor for the flash. Ordinarily there is a delay of like 1/2 second which I agree is a problem when trying to capture a fast changing scene. I once looked up the manufactures specs on this and I think it was like 1/3 of a second. All the other small cameras like this seem to have this delay. It is only when you get to the much more expensive ones ( i.e, better electronics and mechanics) that this shutter delay is shorter. Part of the delay is the electronics figuring out the light settings and the mechanical focusing. THERE IS A WAY HOWEVER TO MINIMIZE THIS DELAY. When going to take a picture of my grand kids, I usually push the release half way to get the focus and exposure set and then hit it fully when I want the shot. This way one eliminates the focusing and aperature setting delay. If you do this with a high contrast object and move the field of view around, you will notice the picture on the display darken or lighten as it changes the aperture according to the different light it sense in the scene. Holding the shutter button down half way will continue to hold the aperture and focusing in that setting. So in pushing further to take the picture, the camera need not readjust the aperature or focus the lens. That procedure minimizes the delay times. |

| Answer: | Currently using a 40 year old Waring Futura II to make my smoothies for my wife in 2014 ! It has 4 pulse speeds and 4 regular speeds. You can still get parts for these too. (They still sell on Ebay for $35. Vintage vitamix blenders all had square containers like Blendtec because Waring had the patent on the round containers !) Frank Waring invented the Blender in 1936 . Hard to tell me about longevity; this people are the "originators" of the blender and they make a superior product today. My next purchase will be another Waring blender tha is made in USA. It served my parents well for their lifetime and was passed on to me. Only reason I am considering an upgrade because I want to chop frozen items into my smoothies now. |
