User questions & answers
Question: | Do you need a bowl lifter for the K45SS to use this attachment? And is there a bowl lifter for this model? If so what would be the benefits |
Answer: | We have a model 45. I think that is the same as the K45SS, but I may be wrong. The model we have does not have a bowl lifter. Instead the bowl fastens to the base with a set of cams. For our model no bowl lifter is needed as the bowl is small enough to be easily lifted by hand. To use the ice cream maker simply rotate the attachment to the base so the cams engage. The ice cream maker is designed to fit several different models. On the model 45, no adapter is needed (one comes with the ice cream maker), and the two projections on the sides of the bowl are not used, and do not prevent the use of the ice cream maker. They are for use on a larger model mixer that has a bowl lifter.Hope this helps. |
Question: | The blue ice inside the bowl has a limited life? I bought a Cuisinart ice cream maker and it stopped freeze after a couple of years of use |
Answer: | Mirtha, I contacted Cuisinart (call them toll free: 800-726-0190) and customer service stated their PATENTED 'blue ice' formula does stop freezing, (go bad) and the cause is unknown. If you have used it for 2 years, you still have a year warranty remaining (they come with 3 year warranty) so call & give them the serial # & model # and they will replace it - free. |
Question: | Does it come with a lid/cover for the freezer bowl |
Answer: | No, it does not. But you don't need a lid or cover since the ice cream is not meant to be stored in the bowl. I found some paper pint containers from an online kitchen supply store, but you can use tupperware, too. |
Question: | Will the ice cream maker work with 4.5 mixers |
Answer: | Bonnie, this ice cream maker fits all Stand Mixers except KSM6573C and KSM7 models (the professional 7-8qt models). The 4.5 mixers are compatible. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Can this device make yogurt |
Answer: | The description says that it can make frozen yogurt - to just use the ice cream setting. Cook's has a delicious recipe for frozen ginger yogurt, including instructions on how to keep it from tasting chalky or being too "icy". |
Question: | Can I purchase extra bowls to freeze in refrigerator and if so, where do I go or what is the part number on Amazon to acquire them |
Answer: | I bought the Tovolo Ice cream tubs and they are very sturdy with a removable inner plastic liner for easy cleaning. The large bowl itself that fits inside the machine is not supposed to have ice cream frozen in it because it can damage it. I leave the empty bowl in my freezer until I'm ready to make a batch and then empty the contents into a Tovolo tub. I looked at other tubs but this brand seemed to have the best reviews, was reusable, and decent in price. They fit about 1.5 quarts and I have a little extra in the machine that I either eat or just put in a small Tupperware dish. I know you can go directly on the Cuisinart website if you need any part numbers for a specific model. I did see extra bowls for the machine on their site and on amazon. Just get your model number for your machine and type that in the search box. |
Question: | Does anyone know how this compares to the ICE-60W model |
Answer: | The ICE-70 is a step up from the ICE-60W model -- it has an auto count-down feature. I chose the ICE-70 over any other model based on this article on the Best Ice Cream makers: http://bit.ly/1TClJZl. |
Question: | Has anyone tried making Gelato? How does it turn out |
Answer: | Gelato turns out very good. My wife tried a few different variations of coffee flavored gelato and we were happy every single time. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Has anyone left the sugar out (or only used a couple of tablespoons)? How does the amount of sugar affect the texture of the finished product |
Answer: | Short answer: no. Dissolved solids are what suppress the freezing point and sugars are your primary source of these. You can reduce sugars by substituting some other solids, like nonfat dry milk (make sure to get 100% skim milk solids). Is your goal reducing sweetness or reducing caloric sugar? If the former, change the sugars you use. Use a mix of dextrose (pure glucose) and table sugar. Dextrose is only 70% as sweet but has nearly double the freezing point suppression. If you want sweetness but no the sugar calories, a portion of the sugar can be replaced by non-digestible sugar alcohols. I'd recommend erythritol. But be careful; if you consume too much it can cause digestive discomfort. And it doesn't taste 100% like sugar. I wouldn't substitute more than 60% of the sugar or so. |
Question: | Can I make a pint of ice cream in one use, or do I have to make the full 1.5 qt |
Answer: | Absolutely you can. And like Calvin said, the less ice cream you make the faster it freezes. I have had mine for over a year now and it continues to work flawlessly. Excellent product. |
Question: | Trying to decide between Cuisinart ICE-100 and Breville BCI600XL. Would love your thoughts |
Answer: | I bought this machine at an estate sale for $15. It looked like it had never been used. I just pulled it out after about 3 months. With no experience at all having made ice cream I watched some YouTube videos and decided on a custard base (made with egg yolks). I pour straight into the machine hot from the stove and in about an hour and 20 minutes I have soft serve ice cream. It’s the best I’ve ever had. The machine is a dream! It’s SOOOOO. Easy to use AND addictive! My first day I made 3 quarts of frozen custard. I don’t think I’ll ever buy ice cream at the store again. |
Question: | Really? (Amazon) claims 45% savings off price ($545). Come one, retail price from Cusinart is $299. zero/nada/0 % savings |
Answer: | Yup, I agree. It is sad indeed that I have to go to other online retailers to figure out the current retail price vs what Amazon calculates it to be to raise the % to make it look like a steal....and after seeing that I am only getting like $4 off of a high priced item, then most daily deals that grab my attention go ignored after calculating the tax vs. Eb @i which still doesn't charge tax. It reminds me of a store that opened up about 10 years ago at the mall. They sold made in china houshold furniture that looked nice. They would have a cheap made wooden chair with a ticket price of $499 but since the store was always at a "closing sale" then you could get everything on the store at a whopping 75% off! That store had a closing sale till it did close about 8 years later. |

Question: | Does this work on the kitchen aid artisan series ? model ksm150psbw |
Answer: | Yes this attachment will work on any KitchenAid stand mixer. |
Question: | I would like to make some cheese straws. will this attachment work |
Answer: | I doubt it. The dough required for this attachment and needs to be hard and needs gluten to hold it all together. If you plan to add cheese to the dough and do it that way, it may work, although I’ve not tried it. If you succeed, it would be great if you post the recipe back here |
Question: | Does this come with the storage case? it says it does but i just bought one from william sonoma and it didn't come with one |
Answer: | This model doesn't come with a separate storage case. The box it comes in has separate cut outs for the entire unit & disk. It keeps everything nice & neat. The box is very sturdy |
Question: | Do you prefer this pasta press or the pasta roller? I know they perform completely different functions. Which one do you use more often |
Answer: | I love my pasta press! I use it more often then my pasta roller. I have more pasta shape options & it is so quick and easy! |

Strain and puree fruits and vegetables quickly and easily. The fruit and vegetable strainer uses the help of the food grinder (Model FGA, sold separately) to break down ingredients, while the strainer cone removes any peels, leaving you with finely pureed fruits or vegetables. For everything you want to make. KitchenAid.
These two accessories, which may be used with all KitchenAid household stand mixers, turn many tough kitchen chores into walks in the park. The strainer, for example, converts cooked apples and pears into sauces for preserving or immediate consumption. Freezer jams are a snap; so is fresh tomato sauce. Baby foods can be made in quantity and frozen. The grinder is equally versatile--think chuck or turkey for fresh hamburgers; Parmesan for pasta or cheddar for quesadillas; peppers, onions, and tomatoes for salsa; apples for chunky sauce. The grinder has two plates, coarse and fine, the latter of which converts stale bread into crumbs in a jiffy. Both strainer and grinder assemble and disassemble quickly and easily without tools, and most parts are dishwasher-safe. --Fred Brack

User questions & answers
Question: | Can thus be used to make applesauce |
Answer: | Yes! It makes a wonderfully smooth applesauce. I wish I had gotten mine sooner. Wash, quarter and cook your apples first. Then put them through the top. It is so much easier than the old fashion hand cranked mill. |
Question: | Can I use this for crushing grapes for home producing wine |
Answer: | The users guide states it is not made for juicing grapes, or uncooked vegetables or fruits. That being said, If you cut up or mash the grapes first, It works fine. It is a more of a fruit/veggie saucer that removes seeds, peelings, etc. You do not get just juice, but depending on the type of a grape, more like a thin to thick sauce. You just need to strain it to get the juice out. Grape skins do break easily in this since there is nothing to cut them. If you cut them open they will juice just fine. I usually run my fruit through twice if the pulp (seeds and skins) are still very wet when they come out. The left over pulp is very dry after the second time. You may have to clean out the screen several times since the skins of some like to stick to the inside too. If you are making a large batch of juice, or don't have time to cut grapes and stop and clean the screen, I would suggest using a juicer made for grapes. You can also stomp or mash the grapes first, then you would have more of a mash that should work just fine. If you soften the fruit and skins by steaming or slightly cooking them, they work better too. Any fruit or vegetable that is not soft does not easily juice. I cut apples in 1/4s and steam them in a little bit of water till they are softer before saucing them for applesauce or apple juice. So, for a small amount of grapes, you are OK, for a large quantity, it would be a slow process. |
Question: | Would this be good for straining seeds out of berries to make blackberry/raspberry jam? Last yr I removed the seeds by hand & that was for the birds |
Answer: | did not work with the large blackberries that typically come from thornless varieties. The berries get stuck at the tip. (I also used it on wild blackberries with smaller seeds and it worked fine for that) |
Question: | R there only 2 pieces to this item? KitchenAid site has a fruit/veg set for a little more money, how is this different |
Answer: | The set includes both the strainer and the grinder. There are 9 individual pieces to this set. Amazon offers the same set that the KitchenAid site offers, but currently Amazon has a little better price than is offered at the KitchenAid site. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Does kitchenaid ksmpra 3-piece pasta roller & cutter attachment set fit the classic mixer |
Answer: | Yes this will it. All KitchenAid attachments will work on all machines. |
Question: | How is this different from previous the kpra model |
Answer: | The KPRA & KSMPRA both come with 1 Roller & 2 Cutters (1 does spaghetti thickness, the other a fettuccine thickness), making it a 3-Piece Set. The difference is this....KSMPRA is supposed to be a commercial type Stainless Steel Set, whereas, the KPRA is all metal pasta set (& I believe more for home use). However, if make lot of pasta, I'd go for Stainless Steel commercial quality set (KSMPRA) instead. Those are the differences, & I feel it's a biggy, stainless steel going to last little longer because it's more durable, hence the commercial use, etc... Hope this all helps you. Cheers -LiteKid- |
Question: | Does it Fit kitchenaidr pro |
Answer: | Mine came with a vice clamp and it opens wide enough for me to use on my butcher block island. This island is much thicker than the Corian one I had in my other house. |
Question: | Are both the kpra (https://www.amazon.com/dp/b000kpulr2) and this ksmpra the same? do both come with 3 seperate rollers, or are they one roller |
Answer: | A small amount of salt added to the pasta mix will NOT weaken the gluten appreciably (always added to artisan bread dough) nor will it harm the texture or cause it to "disintegrate" while it is boiling. All of that may be scientifically accurate in its pure form, however if you want to add flavor to your pasta add some to the dough and a good bit of salt to the boiling water, but not so much as you would have added if making bland (saltless) pasta dough. In the case of using this machine, he harm in adding salt to the dough is that (over time) it will pit and eventually damage the surfaces of the machine... yes, even though it is "Stainless" steel. Grind wheat, oats, corn, rice, and other low-moisture, low-oil grains. This all-metal grain mill simply attaches to the hub of your stand mixer for quick and easy milling. Choose from 'cracked' to extra fine consistency. For everything you want to make. KitchenAid.
Cooking from scratch is made easier with a stand mixer, and made all the more literal with this grain mill attachment. Use it to make flour out of wheat, corn, rye, oats, rice, buckwheat, barley, and millet--any low-moisture, non-oily grain (peanuts and coffee are a no-no with this tool). Make up to 10 cups at a time. The mill is sturdy, heavy, and easy to assemble and attach to the mixer's hub. Adjust the knob to the desired grind, fill the unit with grains, and crank it up to 10. When you're through, brush it clean with the small brush included in the kit. If you need to, wash it by hand, but don't put it in the dishwasher. --Betsy Danheim
- Grinds Low-Moisture Grains (Wheat, Corn, Rice, Etc.) From Coarse to Fine
User questions & answers
Question: | This mill can grind dry herbs and spices |
Answer: | its' not recommended for herbs/spices but as long as they are fully dry and not oily (i.e. no rosemary) it will work. But if you primary want to grind herbs/spices I'd recommend use an actual spice grinder or a cheap coffee grinder. this grain mill is way overkill for that. |
Question: | I have an Accolade 400. Will this grinder work for me? Thank you |
Answer: | Hi, I have KitchenAid KP26M1XER 6 Qt. Professional 600 Series Bowl-Lift Stand Mixer - Empire Red. Will this attachment work with it? |
Question: | I want to use this with roasted almonds to make almond butter. My brother has a Champion that makes butter easily. Anyone done any roasted nuts |
Answer: | I use my food processor to make almond or other nut butters. I toast the nuts then grind them in the food processor adding just a small amount of almond or walnut oil at the end to get the right consistency. It's much better than the "fresh-ground" at stores, because they use low grade/older nut stock, so it's not usually fresh tasting at all. Good luck! |
Question: | Has anyone had problems or success grinding malt for home brewing purposes |
Answer: | Yes, I used to successfully use the mill for grinding malt when I was home brewing. Cracked many 50 pound bags of malt over the years. You do not want to set it to too fine a grind, just set it so the malt is barely cracked. |

Answer: | The kitchenaid brand spiralizer attachment is needed to spiralize your produce. I bought the 7 blade Kitchenaid spiralizer set. I use the large spiralizing blade to make zucchini noodles. Zoodles. It is the BEST tool on the market for Zoodles. Shop prices. Amazon has not had the best price. I shopped here first. But, found it for $55 less elsewhere. I plan to buy a second one to have an extra set of blades. I can see myself wearing the spiralizer out. |
Question: | I’m looking at this to mainly grate block cheeses. Would this work |
Answer: | Very cold or frozen cheese will work best. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Will it fit ksm |
Answer: | Are you using a larger Bowl on your ksm90? I cannot get this beater 2 work it is too large and bowl is not deep enough.. Wondering if I buy a glass 5-quart Bowl if there is even one for this mixer, it will work?? Please help I have the 300 watt also really really really thinking about a new one. |
Question: | Can anyone compare the Flex Edge to the SideSwipe beater? Individual tilted blades on the SideSwipe may be better at keeping batters down in the bowl |
Answer: | I have both the flex edge and the sideswipe beaters - i love them both - and use them for different batter types. I use the flex edge for "thinner" batters like brownie and cake mixes. I use the sideswipe for thicker or chunky batters - like oatmeal raisin or chocolate chip cookies. |
Question: | Which is better, the flex edge beater, the sige swipe edge blade, or the new metro beater for all purpose mixing |
Answer: | To me it depends on what you are mixing. i like the original beater for some thing and the flex edge for others. For example if im mixing dry or adding powdered sugar in the mixer I perfer the original. The flex edge beater tends to make a mess if you are not careful and you end up with sugar all on your working surface. |
Question: | This seems to make my mixer jump as it goes around. Is this normal, or do I have the wrong size? I have the 5 at artisan mixer. Do |
Answer: | This blade is for a 4.5/5 quart mixer. As one other person said perhaps the blade needs raising. I have a 4.5 and no problem with this. The instruction manual states how to raise the height of the beater. |
