User questions & answers

Question: Will it work on an "induction" type stove top
Answer: any ground coffee the crema is best on near fine ground coffee, just less than powder. The trick to these is the grind, the grinder is a big part of it, the Cuisinart DBM-8 Supreme Grind a burr grinder this is the best for the best price. a blade grinder will take a long time but won't get the perfect grind needed,
Question: Why difference $79 .99 and
Answer: are you using the correct grind? all stove top espresso makers should be used with a medium grind coffee. if you use a grind that is too fine 2 things can happen, the first is the the grinds will full through the filter basket and end up in your water the second is the water may not be able to make it through all the grinds leaving you with a 3/4 full pot. I suggest using a medium grind and do not Tamp down. When you're using the reducer place the reducer in the basket and put your coffee on top then calculate the corresponding amount of water
Question: will it work on all stove tops
Answer: This stove -top espresso maker will work on gas, electric and induction ranges.
Question: Where is it made
Answer: The bottom looks to be made of the same material as the top. The sides of both upper and lower chambers are non-magnetic polished 18/10 stainless steel. The thick base of the bottom chamber is strongly magnetic as though it contains a copper or iron core that is inside stainless steel. If it were aluminum it would not be magnetic. The base is marked "Electric Innovations" on the bottom and the box the coffee-maker came in says only that it is made from 18/10 Stainless steel.

Question: What are the significant improvements of the 870 over the 860 Express besides hot water and 1600W
Answer: Not loud at all. Maybe a bit more than the microwave.
Question: Will the machine fit on top of this protective mat? I'm not sure of the dimensions. http://amzn.to/2l8g4zZ
Answer: 11 libras
Question: I'll be using this mainly for long black/americanos. Any tips or downsides to getting the most brewed liquid? I love a big, hearty mug of joe

The Barista Express by Breville, BES870XL

Create great tasting espresso in less than a minute. The Barista Express allows you to grind the beans right before extraction, and its interchangeable filters and a choice of automatic or manual operation ensure authentic cafe style results in no time at all.

The 4 keys formula for third wave specialty coffee at home:

1. Rich, full flavor

Full-bodied coffee with rich and complex flavors is created using the right dose of 19-22g of freshly ground beans. This dose allows the coffee to fully express the incredible aroma, intense flavors and distinctive character of the coffee, for a true cafe quality result. Anything less than the optimal dose results in a weak and watery taste experience.

2. Perfectly balanced taste

Sweet, delicious and nuanced flavor notes begin with precise control over water temperature. Digital temperature control (PID) technology precisely controls water temperature for a perfectly balanced coffee extraction, giving you the control and consistency for delicious tasting coffee every time.

3. Irresistible body

An opulent, creamy and caramel-colored espresso starts with low pressure pre-infusion that soaks the grinds, allowing water to pass evenly through the coffee during the high pressure (9 bar) extraction process, delivered via our 15 bar Italian pump. This results in a rich, sweet and viscous espresso.

4. Silky, velvety mouthfeel

Savor the silky taste and velvety mouthfeel of true microfoam milk. The milk is steamed with pressure that creates thousands of tiny bubbles, enhancing flavor and mouthfeel, while the temperature brings out the milk’s sweetness, exciting your taste buds, for a harmonious blend of rich, sweet milk and syrupy, golden espresso.

Dose-Control Grinding

Integrated conical burr grinder grinds on-demand to deliver the right amount of freshly ground coffee directly into the portafilter for your preferred taste with any roast of bean.

Grind Size Dial

Simple and intuitive, giving you control over the grind size no matter what type of bean you're grinding.

Precise Espresso Extraction

Digital temperature control delivers water at precisely the right temperature, ensuring optimal espresso extraction.

Micro-Foam Milk Texturing

The steam wand performance allows you to hand texture micro-foam milk that enhances flavor and enables creation of latte art.

User questions & answers

Question: What would be a good reason to spend $300 more on the krups falcon over the krups espresseria? trying to decide between the two
Answer: Only happens if you don't cycle with clear water and no coffee a couple of times after the cleaning cycle.
Question: crema
Answer: 1 kit or box has 2 packets + a test strip for water hardness. Each packet is for 1 descaling. Descale every 3 to 4 months depending on water hardness (I filter my water). White vinegar & water will also work as a descaler. Check the internet for how to.
Question: Does this make regular coffe
Answer: My particular coffee machine KRUPS KM9008 recommends mixing powder with 16 ounces of water, pouring into the water fill tank, and starting the machine. Be sure to remove filter first,if your machine has one! .Allow half of the liquid to run through, then switch off machine and let stand for 1 hour.then restart machine to complete the brewing cycle.Discard liquid and rinse machine by running it through 2 full cycles with water only.
Question: Is it possible to use filtered water in place of the Krups cartridge
Answer: There are only two packages in this box and I ended up using half a package of the crystals at a time, getting four uses out of the box. I did purchase another item that comes in a three pack with four packets in each for a total of 12 uses by Urnex Dezcal for about the same price. Just received them and have not tried them, but the Krups worked very well and if these do not work as well, I will purchase the Krups again. I have fairly hard water and need to use the product more frequently than most do. There are no instructions with it, but another poster had suggested dissolving the crystals in half a pot of water, pour in coffee maker, let it begin to filter through, turn off the coffee maker and let it sit for about 20 minutes and then turn on again. That worked very well, and then run a couple of pots using just plain water to completely clean the unit before brewing a pot of coffee.

Question: Does it have hot water spout for tea or to make americano on occasion
Answer: Yes it does. Right next to where it pours the shot, there is a spout for hot water. Just to note, the water that comes out of it is near-boiling. (~200° F). Perfect for Americanos or to get some hot water to clean an espresso cup or something. It will of course work for tea, but just keep in mind that you can't control the water temp. It comes out at the same temperature that it uses for pulling the espresso, which is near-boiling. If you are a tea connoisseur then you probably know that some tea like green tea should actually be steeped at lower temps like 170° or 180° to prevent burning. This water is around 200° which is good for herbal and black teas, but might burn more delicate teas like green and white teas. It works fast, essentially on demand (1-3 second warmup). But one of the many tea kettles that Breville makes would be better if you are making tea frequently. I have the Breville IQ Kettle next to this espresso machine and use the two interchangeably. Both this espresso machine and the IQ Kettle are amazing products made by Breville. The IQ Kettle will make water to the exact temp you set it to and hold it at that temp (between 130° and 220° F by 5° increments). Both appliances compliment a drink bar nicely.
Question: Does this have a double boiler
Answer: No. It's a single boiler. They advertise it as a "3 seconds start up with ThermoJet® heating system." which means the system heats the water pretty much on demand. Literally it goes from turning it on to espresso heat ready in a few seconds. And the same few seconds to make steam. It acts like a dual/double boiler.
Question: The original price is $$899.95. why you have it higher
Answer: Hello, Not sure what who you are referring to when you say $1350. There are 11 sellers on Amazon selling this item at the same exact price of $899.95. I do not see anyone selling it for $1350

User questions & answers

Question: Where is this 1-cup model made
Answer: Made in Italy, thank God. Otherwise, I wouldn't have bought it. It's my second one, the last one got trashed when I negligently left it in the sink with water sitting in it when I went out of town on business. Glad I bought this one. They really make a nice brew. Get yourself one.
Question: Where is this made? I could give a sh*t where the company is based
Answer: I’ve had this machine for a while and have tried several beans and thus far my favorite has been kicking horse. I get nice crema with this bean which I haven’t gotten with others. As well I tend to have less grind flying all over the place, probably because these beans are oily. I’ve heard death wish is good too. In my opinion, if you’re r combining more than 3oz of milk characteristics between beans starts to gets lost. As such, I wouldn’t spend a huge amount of money on beans if your going to make lattes or cappuccinos. But I’m no coffee expert
Question: Did any of you guys experience incomplete delivery (missing parts)? It happened to me twice
Answer: Thank you for your inquiry on one of our Calphalon products. The grinder does not automatically stop once it has dispense the required amount of coffee.
Question: Where is this made
Answer: Metal tampers still work best. But the plastic tamper supplied fits perfectly with the portafilter.

Breville BES840XL BES840XL/A The Infuser Espresso Machine, 100, Stainless Steel

Breville

Based on 1 reviews Check latest price

Product description

For espresso with a well-balanced flavor, flavor needs to be drawn evenly from all the coffee grinds. What is the best way to prepare the grinds for an even extraction? Rather than starting with bursts of high pressure, the Breville Infuser Espresso Machine starts with steady, low pressure to gently expand the grinds. This helps fills in any cracks, gaps, or irregularities in the coffee puck before full pressure is applied, so even pressure is applied to all parts of the coffee puck and optimal flavor is extracted. The BES840XL has both automatic features, like temperature settings, and programmable features like volumetric control. The key features that set it apart from other espresso machines in its price range are the pre-inFusion technology, the thermocoil heating system, and PID temperature control technology. See chart below for details. Other helpful features include a cup warmer on the top of the machine and a feature that removes excess water from the filter basket after coffee extraction, so the used grounds form a dry puck for quicker cleanup. The machine goes into 'Sleep Mode' after 1 hour and automatically shuts off after 3 hours. There is extra-tall cup clearance for brewing directly into travel mugs. Other touches include an ‘Empty Me!’ indicator that lets you know when the removable drip tray is full and a ‘Clean Me’ cleaning alert. The storage tray houses the included accessories. Lastly, all parts that come in contact with water and coffee are BPA free.

  • Pre infusion function applies low water pressure at the start of the extraction to gently expand grinds for an even extraction; Water Tank Capacity: 61 ounce
  • 1600 watts thermocoil heating system with integrated stainless steel water coil accurately controls water temperature; Settings: Single or Double Shot Volumetric Control & Manual Over ride. Dimensions : 13.7 x 11.5 x 13.2 inches
  • Auto purge function automatically adjusts water temperature after steam for optimal espresso extraction temperature; 15 bar Italian pump provides complete volumetric control preset, manual over ride or re programmable volumes
  • Accessories: single & dual wall filter baskets, coffee scoop, stainless steel jug, cleaning disc & tablets, cleaning tool, water filter with holder. Please note: There is a “Black Plastic” insert inside the stainless steel bowl of the portafilter, this is meant to reduce heat loss experienced when espresso hits cold metal also prevents any “splashing” from the dual wall pressurized filter baskets
  • PID temperature control that delivers water at precisely the right temperature adjustable in 2 degree Celsius increments; Power 1700 Watts. Voltage: 110 to 120 Volts

User questions & answers

Question: After the shot is pulled, how long does it take for the steamer to steam the milk
Answer: Before pulling a shot on the BEXL Infuser™, or any Breville® espresso machine, it is always recommended that a shot with no coffee grounds be pulled and that the steam wand be turned on for approximately 20 to 30 seconds. This allows the brew head and steam wand to not only head up themselves but to also purge out any unheated water, ensuring that what comes out when you need it is as hot as it should be. That being said, once steaming has begun it's entirely a matter of taste. Generally it should only take between 25 and 45 seconds to have a frothing jug full of either thick fluffy foam or rich silky foam.
Question: plus a grinder (if so which one) or the 870 self contained? If neither which machine (brand/model) would you go with
Answer: When we bought our 840 Infuser, we already had a really good grinder, a Baratza Encore. I think we paid around 100 dollars for the Encore, which grinds our beans to an absolute perfect grind (just under #10 on the grinder adjustment) After fooling around with different beans and roasts, I surrendered and started buying the best espresso beans I know of, the Neapolitan Espresso whole beans from Mr Espresso in Oakland, California. This combination registers a perfect, and extremely smooth shot (s) every single time. The pucks literally fall out of the portafilter in to the knock box. No banging or other violence required. :) But the question is " Buy the 870 with a grinder or a 840 and get your own? If we had to do it all over, I'd get an even better Baratza grinder. They make one that grinds the amount by weight, so you always get exactly the right amount. The Baratza Setta 270 is about 400 bucks, but dang it, it has a small footprint and everyone says it is the shiznitz. (The best "by weight") grinder. At any rate, you should get a conical burr grinder, and if you want quality, stick with a Baratza or Breville grinder. You get what you pay for. In fact, as much as I love our Infuser, I already am planning to get a dual boiler so I don't have to wait for the machine to recharge before steaming milk. Is it an obsession? Maybe, but do I care? Heck no! Get a separate grinder, and an Infuser.
Question: what is the warranty
Answer: The BES840XL , Infuser™, comes with a 1 year limited Manufacturer's warranty.
Question: I always notice a drop or 2 of water, slight moisture in the tool storage tray behind the drip tray after use. Is this normal, anyone else have that
Answer: Yes, after frothing or brewing the unit performs an internal clean cycle I've noticed and takes 40-45 seconds after the brew or steamed water/ frothing choice. Be patient, let it work and you just have to watch the tray float of when to empty.

The Infuser Espresso Machine by Breville, BES840XL

The Infuser delivers optimal espresso flavor in every cup. It pre-infuses ground coffee with low, steady water pressure before extraction, gently expanding the grinds before stepping up to high pressure. The result is a more even extraction, which produces balanced espresso flavor.

Volumetric Control

Not all coffees are the same. Control the volume of each pour at the touch of a button.

Precise Espresso-Extraction

Maximize flavor potential with low pressure pre-infusion, digital PID temperature control, adjustable in 4⁰ F increments and pressure gauge that guides you to the right extraction.

Micro-Foam Milk Texturing

High power 1650 W element for high pressure steam and faster heat up to create the micro-foam necessary for a cafe quality taste and essential for creating latte art.

Flexible Shot Control

Choose between 1 shot, 2 shots or manual control over how much espresso ends up in your cup for the perfect dose every time.

User questions & answers

Question: Can ese pods be used
Answer: Yes they can. There are two filters included with this machine and one is specifically designed to fit ESE pods.
Question: More espresso comes from the right spigot than the left. Has anyone else had this problem? I literally get twice as much from the right side
Answer: It could be your grind. It could also be the way you are tampering it. Those 2 things will throw your shots of espresso off.

User questions & answers

Question: Where is this made
Answer: The Bialettis are made in Italy.
Question: Is the gsi moka espresso pot actually 100% stainless steel or is the inside fullel aluminum
Answer: Yes
Question: Hi! is this gsi moka pot induction capable? could anyone please check theirs by touching a magnet onto the bottom to see if it sticks. thanks
Answer: Different size so different price
Question: On the official gsi website this says it brews 5- 2.5oz. cups for 12.5 oz. here it says 10- 2.5oz cups for 25oz. who's correct
Answer: I have only used an electric stove for my 2 Bialetti Moka Espresso Makers (I have both medium and large-sized pots), so for those types of stoves—yes, they work great! As long as your stove is able to generate enough heat to boil water, your Bialetti Moka Express products should work! Just make sure you keep track of the time your Moka Express makes your espresso otherwise you might overcook/burn the coffee! When the pot stops making the gurgling noise, you can then turn off your stove!

Product description

  • HISTORY OF ESPRESSO: Espresso is a specialty coffee brewed by forcing small amounts of nearly boiling water under pressure through finely ground coffee beans. Espresso is generally thicker and more highly concentrated than coffee brewed by other methods, often featuring a creamy foam on top. Espresso was invented in Italy at the beginning of the 20th century by Luigi Bezzera. Bezzera invented a method of creating coffee using steam pressure, providing a quick way to make a single cup of coffee. The original Italian name meant "pressed coffee," with a connotation of speed and efficiency
  • EXCEPTIONAL DESIGN: The Primula 6-Cup Aluminum Espresso Maker features a modern, stylish design with a high-quality aluminum body. The handle is made from a heat resistant plastic that not only provides you with a firm and reliable grip, but also allows your hand to stay cool during use. Its efficient layout forces pressurized water through coffee grounds, and deposits a rich, full bodied espresso blend into the serving chamber
  • FIRST USE INSTRUCTIONS: Unscrew the top and remove the filter funnel from the base. Locate the filter plate and rubber washer, and remove both. Wash all parts in hot water and then reassemble. It is recommended that your first espresso be thrown away as to ensure the optimal taste of ensuing brews
  • SUBSEQUENT USES AND CLEANING: To use, fill the base with fresh water up to the level of the safety valve and insert the filter funnel. Fill the filter funnel with finely ground coffee (do not press down), and screw the assembled top firmly to the base. Place the espresso maker on low to medium heat, and within 3-5 minutes, delicious espresso will fill the serving chamber. Serve immediately. To clean, hand wash only. Do not use a dishwasher

    User questions & answers

Question: how many ounces of coffee does this make? The cups must be very small
Answer: Mix 2oz with 8oz of hot water for an Americano or with 8oz of hot milk for a cappuccino. For full effect you can whip the milk in a french press. The straight espresso (if brewed with find ground espresso and not regular ground coffee) that this makes is very strong by itself. You could drink a full pot of it but you'd be pretty wired, they're usually served in 1.5oz shots.
Question: Is this the same as the Moka pot, but cheaper? Any differences between this and the Moka brand
Answer: The main difference is the material being used. This is steel, while many are aluminum. There are alleged health problems with aluminum, plus it does leach into the flavor at times. This also has a different shape than the classic aluminum moka pots that have sharp angles. I don't think it makes any difference to the coffee, but it will look a bit different. I personally would still call this a Moka pot, even if it's not the Bialetti brand.
    Question: Where is this made
Answer: Made in China on my box. No markings on pot.
Question: how to get the allumimum taste out
Answer: First VERY RARELY EVER use soap! I learned the hard way not to use soap. That caused a little bit aluminum taste but as I used it by the 3rd time all that bad taste was gone. If you run water only thru a few time this might help. There are some easy powder cleansers you can purchase at stores in the coffee pot or pots and pans area. But very important for you to rinse several times with clear cool water. Also maybe put a little coffee grounds in the bottom and soak it over night the rinse well with water ONLY. This may help. Good luck!!
