Answer:	It's just a thermometer and won't keep anything from freezing. I think it will work for you. I like being able to see it from 10± feet but I'm disappointed with accuracy in sunlight. (It says 90° when it's obviously 70°)

Answer:	You might be able to see it from a slight angle, but it's best to be directly in front of it. Unfortunately, the thermometer they sent me is consistently under-reporting the temp by 12 to 13 degrees. I tried everything I could think of to remedy the situation, but to no avail. I will be putting mine in the trash.
Question:	Does this work in all-day direct sun? I want to get one for the shade, and one for the sun
Answer:	You should never, ever put a thermometer in direct sunlight. You are then trying to measure the temperature of the sun, and you could ruin the thermometer. Outdoor temperature always refers to the temperature of the air, which can only be measured in in the shade.

Question:	What is the thickness measurement of the outdoor sensor? I live in an apartment and must place it between a window and a screen
Answer:	Here are the measurements: 3/4" (at 'hanger' end) to 5/8" thick (main body of sensor). it is 5" high and 1.5' wide. It would certainly fit between the window and the screen; however, my husband says you may not get a true temperature reading because it would pick up the heat from the window even though it is outside. Can you put it on the window sill on the outside of the screen? That is where I have ours and it works fine. Has not fallen off our brick window sill even though it is slightly slanted. As a standard, I have a 14" Fisher mercury in glass laboratory thermometer accurate to 1/4°F, which I trust. I use two display stations (upstairs and downstairs) running off one outdoor transmitter. Question:	does it work in very cold weather, negative degrees
Answer:	We live in Texas. It was fine for 4 years until our first cold front came in 2 weeks ago. We went down to 60 F when the sensor stopped working. I ordered a new sensor with amazon. That one stopped working after 3 days when the next cold front came in at 55 F. What a terrible waste of money. I'll be calling La Crosse on Monday.

RESTART:

1. Have display and outdoor sensor units at least 5 feet apart with nothing between them.

Recommend: brand-name, standard alkaline batteries (expiration date: 7 years ahead of current year, or tested 1.48v on voltmeter) TIP: Avoid rechargeable or lithium batteries in display

2. Remove all batteries from both display and sensor(s)

3. Press any button to completely discharge residual electricity. Leave batteries out for 10 minutes (both sensor & display)

Answer:	As thermometers go, they are a simple device that, when produced, are accurate to +/- 1 degree. My automobile thermometer is nearly always identical to the LaCrosse round thermometer.

Answer:	Mine was also 10 degrees off. I used a small screwdriver (for a sewing machine) to turn the tiny brass screw in the center coil on the back of thermometer to adjust to correct temp. Hope this helps you.

Answer:	NO, because the electronic part of it cannot withstand the heat of the over. Only the pointy tip of it is meant to be exposed to high temperature. It was deaigned to take quick reading of meat to make sure it's cooked at the center, but it's not meant to be removed and not kept inside the oven. You need the analog type instead if you want to keep it in the oven.
Question:	Can this thermometer be calibrated? (with some, you measure icewater and reset the temp to 32 degrees F
Answer:	No. This one can't be calibrated. However, the ThermoPro TP15 instructions give steps for calibration in an ice bath. I have both models. I think the TP15 is worth the extra cost. It also has the advantage of being faster and has a magnet to store it on the fridge.

Answer:	My thermometer is 24 1/4" tall (bottom to tip of point), a bit over 2 1/8" in diameter and the base is a bit over 4 1/4" in diameter. As these are hand made, they are not all exactly the same dimensions. YMMV.

Question:	Can you shake it down at night for a morning underarm reading
Answer:	That’s what I do. I shake it down before I go to bed. In the morning, it’s ready to take a morning underarm reading. I tried using it under my tongue, but I’d fall back asleep and it would drop out of my mouth. Securing it in my underarm works great. My alarm clock snooze lasts 5 minutes, which is just enough time to get an accurate reading. Shaking it down using the sock twirling method has worked super well for me over the years!
Question:	Hard to shake down what is the best way to do this
Answer:	I just learned about the "sock method" and it works! Put the thermometer in a longer sock with the tip down, and twirl it for 5-10 seconds. The centrifugal force gets it done> I had 2 glass ones I couldn't shake down and they both went way down to the bottom.

Answer:	It’s called paraffin oil. It is non toxic to the touch, but don’t get any near your eyes or mouth. It is flammable so be careful about open flames util after it has been cleaned up. I suggest blotting it up with paper towels.

Answer:	I looked all over the product and couldn't find this info. Mine is installed so it's difficult to access certain spots... But I can say that the quality if very good. I've been using it for over a year and it works great. Once I even used it under water (I had problems with my chiller and had to use the iced water bath method to cool the wort) and it's perfectly sealled.
