User questions & answers
Question: | How easy is it to remove a single ice cube -- by grabbing it by the edges |
Answer: | This one is made to freeze up ice cubes to insert into water bottles - long thin tubes of ice that fit into standard bottles. You have to twist the tray and push on them to pop them out, nothing automatic about this. The normal trays are the ones that make half moon shapes, which make it easy to pop them out of the tray by pressing on one end of the moon. |
Question: | What are the size dimensions of the ice cubes |
Answer: | The silicone lid has an unacceptable odor that transfers to the ice cube. Requested refund. |
Question: | Has anyone used this for baby food? My little guy is just starting on solids and I want to be able to freeze in very small quantities |
Answer: | Just the lid is silicone. |
Question: | Is this product BPA Free |
Answer: | They're approxinately 3 inches long by 1/3 inch deep by 3/4 inch wide. |

The cold-brew process makes smoother, less bitter and less acidic hot or iced coffee. Steeping the grounds in cold water releases only the most aromatic flavors. Plus the concentrate created from the cold-brew process stays fresh longer than regular coffee.
The OXO Good Grips Cold Brew Coffee Maker brings the cold-brew process to your kitchen, offering smooth, low-acid coffee without a trip to the cafe. Just add coffee grounds to the Brewing Container and fill the Rainmaker top with water. The Rainmaker ensures that water is distributed evenly over the coffee grounds. Let the mixture steep for 12 - 24 hours. When you’re ready to enjoy, the Brew-Release Switch allows for easy control of the draining process. The stainless steel ultra-fine mesh filter can be removed for quick cleanup.
Once the concentrate is prepared, mix with ice and water for iced coffee or hot water for hot coffee. Milk can also be added. Tea-lover? The OXO Good Grips Cold Brew Coffee Maker will steep and strain your favorite tea into sealable, glass carafe.
For best results, use coarse ground coffee. Finer grounds may prevent the OXO Good Grips Cold Brew Coffee Maker from draining properly.

User questions & answers
Question: | What is the average time to brew |
Answer: | I believe the manual/guide suggests letting coffee brew for 12-24 hours. My palate isn't very sophisticated so I couldn't really say whether there's a real difference between letting brew shorter or longer, within that window, but I've let it brew near both ends of that range and it always seems to turn out well. I generally let it brew overnight, and how long it ends up brewing is generally based on what time during the previous day I started it brewing. |
Question: | How much liquid should it yield? I used 20 oz. of water and 5.0 oz. of coffee grounds. I only ended up with approximately 10 oz. of coffee concentrate |
Answer: | I've had mine for a bit over a year now. I use 10 oz by weight of course ground and 48 liquid oz water, let stand/brew for 24 hours, stirring after 12 to 18 hours , then drain for 30 to 45 minutes. I use the optional paper filters, keeps the "dust" out. |
Question: | What made you go with this unit over the Todd cold brew unit which is 15 dollars cheaper? I'm trying to decide which one to get so thanks |
Answer: | I've been using the Toddy for years - in fact I replaced my first unit with another Toddy when the plastic got scratched. The Toddy handle is so flimsy that I threw it out after one use. It is difficult to remove the plug without getting coffee on your hands (or shirt if you tip it). If you don't put the plug in all the way so that it's easier to remove, it leaks. I felt that reusable plastic filter was unsanitary. I don't like bleaching plastic, and it shrinks if you put boiling water over it. The OXO is sturdy, and a more rigid plastic. The lever, while stiff, is much easier to operate than the plug. The OXO stand is wonderful (I still remember the morning when I didn't set the Toddy filter assembly straight on the carafe & the whole thing tipped over me and the counter.) The metal filter of the OXO doesn't hold as much grounds inside, and it can be run through the dishwasher or boiled. I'm wishing that I'd seen the OXO sooner - and I've been using a Toddy for 5 years. The only thing that the Toddy does better is that it will hold a pound of coffee, while the OXO only holds 10 oz. |
Question: | Is there a replacement available yet for if the carafe breaks? And by if I mean I broke my carafe |

User questions & answers
Question: | Dish washer safe |
Answer: | I no longer have the packaging and it is not marked on the tray. It just says OXO. |
Question: | how many teaspoons per cube |
Answer: | I threw away the cover material when I got the item...it only says OXO on the white pieces. Sorry, no idea where they were manufactured. |
Question: | Are the ice cubes made from these considered mini cubes or just a little smaller than regular cubes |
Answer: | Well, I just filled a cube with water and turned it upside down momentarily and not a leak. I then set it upside down on a paper towel for 15minutes and the paper towel was still dry. However, when I turned it over, some liquid must have been in the lid b/c it did leak a little. If you have it right side up in a cooler and it starts to melt, I think it will be fine, even if it gets turned upside down momentarily. I really turned it over and not a drop came out until it had been upside down for some time. I hope that helps. |
Question: | Why can't I get the ice cubes out without manhandling the silicone trays |
Answer: | Each cube holds 2.81 ounces. I know this because I pour a 16.9 ounce bottled water to fill all 6 cubes perfectly. |

User questions & answers
Question: | How much coffee do you use? How much does it make |
Answer: | You put coffee up to the coffee Bean marker, 6 oz. Use 24 Oz water. Yield is about 16 oz of coffee concentrate. The book says about 5-7 drinks. |
Question: | Can i use the oxo cold brew coffee maker paper filters for this compact maker |
Answer: | Yes you can as a secondary to the stainless steel mesh provided. The stainless one is non removable but it will also accept a paper filter. |
Question: | I’ve noticed a problem with my flavored coffee clogging the filter. I grind it as coarse as possible, is there anything else I can do |
Answer: | Unfortunately, the flavor in your flavored coffee is produced by oils. Those oils are inherently going to stick to and clog up filters. this is less of an issue on the larger paper filter of a pour over or drip coffee maker, but it will present a challenge in something like this. If you're using a burr grinder, they're also going to leave residue behind on the burrs, so you'll need to make sure you're cleaning it after every use (or at very least when you change flavors and periodically for the health of the burrs). Unfortunately, your best bet if you want to add some sort of flavor to the coffee is to use an unflavored bean and add flavor to the concentrate or the final glass of coffee. |
Question: | How many ounces of coffee concentrate are produced in a batch |
Answer: | The book says 16 oz |

User questions & answers
Question: | work in a ice dispenser? looks like same half moon no |
Answer: | Seems to be. I never use heated dry, though, so can't comment on the plastic part in that setting. |
Question: | Is it BPA and other chemical free |
Answer: | A little less than 2 full tsp per cube |
Question: | Is the tray made out of silicone along with the lid? They only mentioned the lid being silicone |
Answer: | They are about the size of a standard sugar cube. I would consider them to be mini cubes. We have fresh citrus and I freeze it with these for use later in homemade salad dressings etc. Hope this answer helps you. |
Question: | Is there a way to know the dimensions of each ice stick |
Answer: | I had the same issue.... needless to say I no longer own those ice cube trays. They were more work than they were worth. |

No more ice cubes slithering across your counter or floor and no more sloshing a just-filled ice cube tray on your way to the fridge--Oxo has come to the rescue with this nifty, easy-release tray with a sliding lid. Just fill the tray with water, slide the lid on, and slip the tray into the freezer. The lid design allows you to stack more trays or other items on top: a great space-saving feature. To dispense the ice cubes, slide the lid in either direction until the desired number of cubes are exposed, then flip the tray over to release the cubes. The clever lid design lets you release a single cube or a dozen, and both tray and lid have a solid feel, with just the right amount of give. Sliding the lid on a just-filled tray, however, takes a little practice (the lid sticks a bit), but placing the tray on a firm surface and sliding evenly and firmly should do the trick. --C. Whitney-Ward

User questions & answers
Question: | Are they BPA free |
Answer: | It is standard ice tray size, maybe 1/4 inch longer. |
Question: | Are they leakproof |
Answer: | I thought I read the label and it said no BPA but cannot remember at this time. |
Question: | Does the set consist of 2 trays or |
Answer: | On oxo.com website, the description of the no spill ice cube tray is written. Along with it, there is a symbol for dishwasher safe and the other, in a circle, shows BPA with a line running through it. I assume this means BPA free. Hope this helps. |
Question: | what are the dimensions of each tray |
Answer: | Yes. If you remove the silicone lids the trays will stack and make ice cubes but only if you alternately stack them front to back. If you already own these trays you probably are wanting to remove the silicone lids because they absorb odors into your ice - so removing the lids and stacking them end for end will allow you to continue using them to make ice. If you do not yet own these trays I suggest you buy some other stackable trays without silicone lids. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Is this good for an ice cream scoop |
Answer: | It's a smaller sized scoop. So, if you're into smaller scoops it might work. While it feels sturdy, I wonder how it would stand up to hard ice cream. |
Question: | Are these good for scooping out cupcake batter |
Answer: | It depends on the size of the cupcake batter. This will make a medium size ball of cookie dough, cupcake batter might be a little runny for this and these might be too small. It seems like this is the wrong tool for the job. It would scoop more efficiently than a spoon, less efficiently than a ladle. |
Question: | does the scoop have a number on the inside on the part inside that releases the product |
Answer: | Yes. The small size scoop says "60 (2 tsp)" and the medium size scoop says "40 (1-1/2 T.)" I don't have the large scoop so I can't tell you what that one says. |
Question: | Someone just please tell me the diameter of the small scoop (the actual scoop/end) in inches |
Answer: | It is 1 1/2 inches across. Hope this helps you! |
