Answer:	no, there is no cover, but it is not messy as so many other grinders are. originally saw this in a favorite restaurant and asked if i could buy one; they were not able to sell as their supply was low due to thefts by customers. i really love it and have ordered it as gifts for others.

To Fill

Pull off top. Flip up salt lid or pepper lid and pour in salt crystals or peppercorns into their respective compartment.

To Adjust

Fora fine grind, turn the knobs on the base of the mill clockwise. For a courser grind turn the knobs on the base of the mill counterclockwise.

To Operate

Turn the top clockwise for pepper, counterclockwise for salt.

To Clean

Wipe with a dampened cloth or paper towel. Do not immerse in water.

Answer:	I'm sorry but I am not familiar with Kosher flake salt. The holes are fairly small; I do use sea salt in the shaker, which is a little more coarse than regular salt. But I can't be sure about the Kosher salt.

Question:	What are the widest these are around the base? I want it to be able to fit it into a condiment holder
Answer:	The salt shaker fills from the bottom. There is no switch to close up the holes but I just told my hand over the holes as I pour. It doesn't seem to be much of a problem. We've had this for years now and in very good condition.
Question:	Will Kosher salt fit into the salt shaker
Answer:	They are so dark brown they do look black.

Answer:	Yes and no. It essentially comes in a blank brown box, approximately the size of the item. So the packaging isn't decorative, but it is boxed individually within the amazon box, allowing you to wrap it in your own gift wrapping.

Answer:	Yes you can. I had not tried it until you asked. But my husband likes his pepper a bit chunky, so I looked on line and they suggest unscrewing the top and pulling the 'lid' up a bit to open the space in the grinding mechanism. This allows bigger chunks to fall through. It worked! Thanks for asking as I now know how to do it.
