User questions & answers
Question: | How well does the potato blemish remover part work |
Answer: | Smooth. But it rusted after about 2 uses. :( |
Question: | where is it made in? in china |
Answer: | no need to use sos pad and oil, just make sure you keep them nice and dry. i've had mine for 6 months and no rust. |
Question: | Why is one side longer than the other |
Answer: | From David Pogue’s secret to extending the life of a razor is to simply dry it off after using it. “You can either blow-dry it with a blowdryer, or I keep a little bottle of rubbing alcohol next to the sink. I just swish the razor in the rubbing alcohol, and that instantly evaporates when you’re done. So the blade never has a chance to rust.” I don't see why this won't work for this peeler too. |
Question: | Does the potato eyer (the piece that sticks out on one side of the peeler) ever get in the way when you are peeling something |
Answer: | I bought it to peel lemons so yes it would work to peel oranges. I will say it is super sharp. I sliced the entire heal of my hand off. Be very careful and peel away from you! |

Question: | I can't find a replaceable blade on Amazon. Where do I find it and how much is it? I would like to find this out before I purchase it. Thanks |
Answer: | They are available directly from the company. A bit on the expensive side, though. But the peeler is so good, it is worth it! |
Question: | is this peeler tough enough to peel the skin off raw butternut squash |
Answer: | This is the best peeler I've ever owned. I don't know if it will peel the tough skin of a raw butternut squash but I'll bet it will! I just tried it on a big raw pumpkin and it peeled the skin off just fine. |
Question: | How does this peeler differ from the non-Pro OXO peeler |
Answer: | I actually have both. This peeler is sharper for one thing. While the peels still seem to stick to the top of the peeler (one of my pet peeves), there is less of that than with the regular OXO peeler. The main difference is the sharpness. |
Question: | Where can I buy the replaceable Blade |
Answer: | I contacted OXO about replacement blades and received a response today (Sept 18, 2017). They have discontinued the blades. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Is the outer rim firm or flexible....My stainless steel rack above has a 3 inch cut for strainer removal and I would like to be able to remove strainewithout lifting rack |
Answer: | I have the same problem. Did you ever find a replacement strainer that is easy to get out through the rack? |
Question: | I have a pretty standard 3 1/2" sink drain that now holds a standard metal 3 1/2" strainer/stopper. Will this work with that size drain |
Answer: | Outer diameter is 4.5", inner diameter 3". It fits my kitchen sink perfectly. |
Question: | Will this work as a garbage disposal strainer |
Answer: | Yes, it works quite well for me. I have a double sink, so I bought two. I keep one on the garbage disposal side at all times to prevent silverware (etc) from falling in. This works very well in my kitchen. |
Question: | is it a stopper also |
Answer: | There are two different models you must choose from. One is only a strainer, while the other is both a strainer and a stopper. Just pick the one that reads 'strainer stopper' and you'll be fine! |

User questions & answers
Question: | This pro y peeler was represented as being 10 inches long and 4 inches wide. I received it and it is only 5 inches long and 2.5 inches wide |
Answer: | The one I received was 5” x 2 1/2”. It was what I expected. To be honest, a peeler 10 x 4 would be unwieldy. I have bought these for my daughter & granddaughter. They love it. |
Question: | Has anyone tried this on a pumpkin. Derinding a large pumpkin for carving can take forever! Thanks Boudica |
Answer: | I have used this on pumpkins, winter squashes, you name it I probably peeled it. With larger pumpkins it takes a while and you aren't going to do it in long strips. It's sort of in pieces and the groves areas it's hard to get the skin off without taking large chunks. This does work better than the side peelers. |
Question: | Can this peeler work up and down? In other words, are both blades sharp |
Answer: | Both blades are sharp. I don't think I've tried peeling by pushing the peeler away from me rather than drawing it toward me, but it should work. |
Question: | Can this peeler that can EASILY peel butternut squash and other thick skin vegetables |
Answer: | YAH! Very pleasantly surprised in that arena. This was actually what I purchased it for. Typically I roast squash but had a recipe for chopped, boiled squash and my little peeler was not doing the job. |

Answer: | Not sure. I hand wash mine and dry it right away. It is the best peeler I've ever had though. |
Question: | Where is this made |
Answer: | I don’t know where this peeler was made. I do not have the packaging any longer. But, I can honestly tell you it works great. And, The smaller handle works well for me because I have small hands. |

User questions & answers
Question: | I have the peeler with the serrated blade. tried peeling apples and have several cuts on my lower palm from it. what am i doing wrong. goin in trash |
Answer: | Not having seen you do it, it's difficult to answer, but I'm going to infer that you are going too quickly and starting with the peeler perpendicular to your hand. I start peeling with it at about a 45 degree angle, with the peeler hooked into the apple (peach, pear, etc.) but pointing a bit upwards. I'll post a pic later if I have the patience. Ha. |
Question: | This set is include swivel peeler 20081 or others |
Answer: | No swivel peeler in my order, nor was I expecting one. That said, the peelers are excellent. |

This tough, durable, 8-inch peeler gets a potato naked for its bath in a jiffy. Cucumber, carrot, and apple peels succumb quickly, too. The swivel blade follows the contours of fruits and vegetables, ensuring that bits of peel don't remain behind. The blade guard's rounded tip digs out potato eyes and other defects. Oxo's Steel line is an all-stainless-steel variant of the company's familiar fat-handled Good Grips line. Rather than being straight-sided, this tool's handle is tapered from heel to finger grip and has satin-finish, stainless-steel panels top and bottom. The handle's sides feature the same design as those in the Good Grips line--they're made of soft processed rubber for comfort, with "fins," or grooves, that flex under pressure, conforming to individual finger grips and providing control when handles are wet or slippery. Like all Oxo tools, this peeler is dishwasher-safe; a hole in its handle facilitates hanging on a hook or peg. --Fred Brack
- Sharp stainless steel blade peels easily
- Sleek, brushed stainless steel handle features flexible fins for comfort
- Built-in potato eyer
- Comes with blade cover for safe storage

User questions & answers
Question: | Can I replace the flat blade with a serrated blade |
Answer: | I have no idea, I have not tried to do that. I like the blade that it comes with. |
Question: | Is this peeler made in the USA |
Answer: | The peeler itself doesn't say where it was made. I don't remember from the packaging. I usually buy American so I'd like to think it is. |
Question: | Just received oxo peeler blade is offhow do i put it back on |
Answer: | After looking at my own peeler (which I love) it seems that the best course for you is to return it for a new item. Any attempts to install the blade will probably result in damage to the peeler. The Blade support is fairly thick SS. It is not flexible. To insert the blade would require forcing the support open to allow one end of the blade to slip into its hole and then to reshape the support to lock the blade into position. Will require some tools and a way to hold the peeler while performing the installation. |
Question: | Can i replace my blade? wondering if the replacement cartridge oxo sells for others work on this. anyone |
Answer: | Doubt it, I think the blade is shorter than the pro peeler. I don't like the one at all. The pro is way better than |
