Answer:	Not hard cheese. It said it cuts thin in the description. I don't think 1/4" is thin. Wish I'd saved my money

Answer:	No you cannot. This slicer is made with wire and designed to slice something soft like spam, boiled egg (or maybe a block of tofu). It does not have blades that would be sharp enough to slice anything like onions or tomatoes. I guess it would work for a ripe avocado or mango but that is about it even a block of cheddar cheese would be too much for it. Something called a mandoline slicer would work for the harder stuff. Also, you can't go wrong with a good chef's knife and the Chinese are actually making some very good knives for under $15 comparable to $75 German knives.
Question:	How thick are the slices? Saw one answer stating 1/16”, but that can’t be right according the pictures
Answer:	The distance between the wires is approx 5/16". Practical application....I get 9 slices out of a can of Spam. Hope that helps.

Question:	Can this be used to peel a soft or medium boiled egg
Answer:	You use this to pierce the shell before boiling. It then makes it much easier to peel. Pierce the fat end with this. Then put the eggs in rapidly boiling water for exactly 16 minutes. (Keep the heat on a setting so it is boiling, but just barely.) Then dump the eggs into ice water and peel. The shells will almost fall off by themselves.
Question:	What is the best way to cut the top off a soft boiled egg AND do you really need the special spoons
Answer:	This is a general response, not specific to this product, because the question was not really related to the product. For decades, I just whacked the eggshell with a knife or spoon to remove the top of the shell. Now I use an egg topper. May still get a couple of little shell fragments, but I can take those out. Little spoons that often come with toppers, prickers and egg cups are great, because they fit into the shells better than a regular teaspoon. I prefer stainless steel to ceramic, as they seem to hold up better. Same goes for most egg cups. A pricker, preferably spring-loaded, is essential for boiling eggs. I have found that it keeps the eggs from exploding if I overcook and makes eggs much easier to peel smoothly, because the egg whites don't stick to the inside of the shells. Hope this helps.

Answer:	Thel slices are 3/16 inches or 5 mm in width. Perfect for potato salad, lasagna filling, etc. Slices in lasagna or wedged slices in salads.

Answer:	I hadn't tried that yet so just did. It will go through it but the wires aren't a heavy gauge and strains them a bit much you still have to cut off the stem just seems easier to cut with a knife. The first wire set that cuts through is the star pattern if it was the straight line pattern it may be worth it for strawberries.

Answer:	I just bought this slicer last week because the wires on Good Cook slicer I have used for many years have gotten stretched and catch on the plastic. As you suspected food does get mashed down into the base and so it doesn't slice all the way through. Since the bottom mashes it's a mess if you try and finish slicing through. I tried it on eggs and strawberries with the same results. If I can find my receipt I am taking it back for a refund.
