Answer:	I guess you could use it for anything, however, these are designed to provide only limited chilling for alcoholic beverages which require less of a chill. Iced coffee I believe would need ice cubes in order to achieve the full chilliness required.

Answer:	It is bpa free...I don't know about fda....the handle is made of a beautiful hard wood....i believe bottoms are silicone and made well, very non stick utensils. You must wash them by hand and i would not let them soak in standing water . I am very happy with them. Excelkent quality. I wish i could tell you more about the fda. They have a great inscription in the box that tells their story and exactly what they are made of. I read it and unfortunately i threw it away. Hope this helps.
