14 best co2 pressure regulators
A CO2 pressure regulator is a crucial component in kegging, beer brewing, home brewing, wine making, and kitchen dining setups where carbonation control is necessary. It helps regulate the flow and pressure of carbon dioxide (CO2) gas used to carbonate and dispense beverages like beer, wine, soda, and more. Here are some key points about CO2 pressure regulators:
Purpose: The primary purpose of a CO2 pressure regulator is to control the pressure of the CO2 gas being delivered to the keg or container. It ensures that the pressure remains at a constant level, which is essential for proper carbonation and dispensing of beverages.
Carbonation: In beer and wine making, CO2 is often used to carbonate the beverages. The regulator allows you to set and maintain the desired level of carbonation by adjusting the pressure.
Pressure Adjustment: Most CO2 regulators have a pressure adjustment knob or dial that allows you to increase or decrease the pressure. Different types of beverages require different carbonation levels, and this adjustment is crucial for achieving the desired results.
Gauges: CO2 regulators typically have two gauges. One gauge displays the tank pressure, which indicates how much CO2 is left in the tank. The other gauge shows the output or serving pressure, which can be adjusted.
Safety Features: Many regulators come with safety features like pressure relief valves to prevent over-pressurization, ensuring the safety of your kegging setup.
Compatibility: It's important to ensure that your CO2 regulator is compatible with the type of CO2 tank you are using (e.g., CO2 tanks come in various sizes and connection types).
Dual vs. Single Gauge: There are both single-gauge and dual-gauge regulators. Dual-gauge regulators provide more information, as they display both the tank pressure and the output pressure. Single-gauge regulators only show the output pressure.
Materials: CO2 regulators are typically made of stainless steel or brass to prevent corrosion and ensure durability.
Installation: Proper installation and setup of the regulator are essential to ensure it functions correctly. This involves connecting it to the CO2 tank and the keg or container.
Maintenance: Regular maintenance is important to keep the regulator in good working condition. This includes cleaning and inspecting the regulator, checking for leaks, and replacing worn-out parts when necessary.
In summary, a CO2 pressure regulator is a critical component in kegging and beverage production setups, allowing for precise control over carbonation levels and safe dispensing of beverages.Proper selection, installation, and maintenance of the regulator are essential for achieving consistent and high-quality results in home brewing, wine making, and other beverage-related applications.

User questions & answers
Question: | Does it come pre assembled |
Answer: | This is for any size aquarium. You adjust the flow of CO2 (usually counted in "bubbles per second") based on the volume of water and plant density. You do have to buy the correct sized diffuser to support your tank. |
Question: | Hi,Now have tank, regulator, gasline assembly w/ball lock and a carbonator but don't know what to do now. How do I hook into the sodastream w/this |
Answer: | Seems to be steel (soft metal) the wrench that comes with this does scratch/tear metal collar that’s screws onto the bottle |
Question: | Does this come with a 1/4" or a 5/16" barb? Thanks |
Answer: | Make sure the valve on the tank is open. If none of the gauges are moving there is no pressure getting to the valves. An empty co2 cylinder could also be the cause. |
Question: | Is this Made in USA |
Answer: | Hello David,Yes, this will work with a standard C02 tank and that is the most common tank that mixed/beer gas comes in. This is an excellent choice for a primary, if you plan to run secondary regulators because of the high pressure ability. AnthonyThe Beverage Factory |

User questions & answers
Question: | Can I switch the plug on the left with the input barb? It's based on the brewery's configuration, or should I just install it with the outputs up |
Answer: | I keep it at 2 if im leaving it plugged in all the time. If you plug it into a controler that probes the air then i set it for 5. Alot of this has to do with your size space. You can just set it on a timer as well and just make it intermittent release |
Question: | What size are tge barbs |
Answer: | I dont believe so. Its simply designed to release a steady flow of pressure |
Question: | Can you use to this for distributing nitrogen as well |
Answer: | When the ball floats to the very top, the valve is all the way open, to ajust the valve there is a black knob you can turn, one way will shut it all the way off, one way will be closed, it is very sensitive when you find the right spot to get the ball floating around 7 to 10. Good luck |

- KEEPS YOUR BEER FRESH: Traditional growler kegs will let carbonated drink go flat after the first pour but not this mini growler set, as it will keep beer vacuum pressured and fresh for up to 2 months. Perfect for any homebrew or craft draught beer
- STAINLESS STEEL MATERIAL: Each of the accessories in the tap dispenser kit is constructed with S/S 304 stainless steel. Tap faucet handle is just pouring draft brew from a kegerator. Pressure release valve allows safe removal of the tap hardware
- WORKS W/ DISPOSABLE CO2: Not included - Each Co2 cartridge will pump around 128oz of beer before going empty. Screw universal threaded 16g CO2 gas cartridges into the regulator to supply pressurized carbonation to your keg brewing system
- UPGRADED REGULATOR: Monitor the current PSI of the 0.5-gallon tank mini keg growler from the regulator gauge and fine-tune pressure by rotating the adjustment knob to enjoy a perfect head on every beer. Add the insulator sleeve to keep beer cooler

Question: | Can you force carbonate wine to make a sparkling wine with this |
Answer: | Yes you can use this for wine, but the wine won't be as carbonated as you probably might like. It will not have the same carbonation as say a D'asti type wine unless the wine is already carbonated. The CO2 here is meant really only for pressurization for dispensing and maybe maintaining carbonation but not necessarily for carbonating the beverage. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Will this work on a Danby co2 gauge for kegerator |
Answer: | It doesn't really matter, you want to turn that screw (zinc) or knob (poly) in the dead center of the regulator assembly counterclockwise before you install the regulator. That screw in the center is what keeps the gas surging thru the dials. once it's installed on the tank you turn it clockwise to open check for leaks and do whatever the instructions tell you. |
Question: | Do they sell one with the threads on the other side of the gauge |
Answer: | No, there’s a one way valve between the keg adapter and air line |
Question: | thread size? I saw another pressure gauge that is 1/4 inch. I need 1/2 inch |
Answer: | I ordered a primary for these secondary regulators. yes you need a primary to connect from your main co2 bulk tank to your primary then to secondary and then to fermentors or brite tanks. hope this helps. |

Question: | I purchased a duel kegorator for hubby and read that it may be best to change the single regulator that it comes with to this duel...should I |

Question: | For a nitrogen draft beer dispensing, are these regulators safe (food grade)? Can you use any nitrogen regulator, or is there such a rating as food gr |
Answer: | You can use any regulator that's made to distribute nitrogen and will fit your equipment. Contact time with the regulator is nonexistent. If you want food grade then the gas you buy has to be rated for the food industry. |
