Question:	Does the base of the tube feeder snap out to for easy cleaning
Answer:	Take a twist tie and attach the top of the spring to the cage- that increases the springiness
Question:	I use mixed seed in my feeders and a lot of it fall through the holes on the inner cage when I fill it. Any suggestions besides using bigger seed
Answer:	No. The cage is not room enough for a bird to go in and get stuck. The birds manage the cage easily. Sadly it is not perfectly squirrel-proof but it does limit the amount that they can take out. I have had mine for many months and the birds are totally fine.
Question:	Can you use millet seed in this feeder
Answer:	I'm not sure. The seed I had last year attracted lots of chickadees and other small birds. I don't think cardinals will have a problem, though. They're still too light to push the feeder ports closed.
Question:	What is the size of the openings in the mesh? 1/4"? Not the external cage, the actual feed tube
Answer:	The issue was when a squirrel tried for the food the release closed the holes like it supposed to. But wouldnt return after the squirrel left. The design is such when closed the opening is smaller closing on the stopping pin and grabbing so I put in a stopper so it wont go all the way down

Answer:	I like mine too. I don’t know why it’s different from what you expected. Mine is like I thought it would be.

Answer:	No, the bird is welded on. I guess you could bend it back and forth until it broke off and then paint over it if you didn't like the bird.

Answer:	No I wouldn’t recommend. The paint will wash away I had to repaint ours after we left it outside for 2 weeks

Answer:	No the base is not removeable and furthermore the top does not lift high enough to easily allow for refilling. While it has defeated the squirrels it also has kept the smaller birds from feeding because the distance between the outer cage and the feeding tube is to big. Good design but needs refinement!

• It all started in 1880
  • Byer of Maine began as a maker of slippers and textile products. In the 1920s and 30s we continued refining our stitching operations while also branching out into metal stamping, and fortuitously enough, wooden cot production. When World War II happened, and later the Korean war, we were called upon to supply troops with a place to lay their heads. And we also doubled our efforts to cut and sew canvas supplies for the war effort. It was an honor.
• Expansion of Wood Folding Furniture
  • Our wooden cot production evolved into a wide assortment of other wooden folding furniture such as chairs and tables. At the same time our line of folding cots expanded into several styles, and introduction of aluminum and steel frames
• New products in the 90's
  • In the late 1990s, we attended The Spoga Trade fair. There we met a young entrepreneur investing in authentic handmade Brazilian hammocks, and joined them to bring these wonderful hammocks to the American market. And just like that, we were in the Brazilian hammock business. In 2006 we continued to expand and created a beautiful line of birding products made of ceramic stoneware.
• Surviving the 2000's
  • Overseas competition brought drastic changes to the American marketplace. We quickly responded and carefully selected factories in Brazil, China, Vietnam, and Thailand. This allowed us to continue to write our 140 year long history of supplying quality products.
