Answer:	Hi, The opening in the lid measures 7mm x 17mm (with rounded corners). If your straw is flexible you should be able to insert it, compressing the 9mm diameter to 7mm. I have found these lids extremely nice to use when driving especially... but I don't use a straw. In fact, I replaced the standard lids on two POLAR 20.9oz stainless steel tumblers with these. The original POLAR lids have slide type covers and one leaked impossibly badly right from new. So - I bought a pair of the KUFUNG lids. After receiving those and testing them, I bought another pair are spares.

Answer:	It’s never melted in my coffee lol. To be honest, I’m not certain. I used the dishwasher with heated dry to clean the lids and straws. Wish I could be a better help.
