Answer:	They are indeed marked vitrelle. I assume that simply means that they are vitrified or fused into a glass rather than a clay like ordinary china. That said they are almost impossible to chip or damage unless you drop them onto a tile floor. I replaced ordinary white china of similar shape that seemed to always have small pieces of glaze damaged whereas the Corelle has remained blemish free. Very handy size as well.

Answer:	I got my set of corelle dishes about 4 months ago. I have not found any flaws in them n they function just as previous sets have done fir me over the years. I choose Corelle because at 70 years old n following a couple strokes, I needed something that wasn’t gonna break n chip the first time I chunked it against the counter. N indeed it is meeting those standards. Can’t say that I didn’t get the one box that had no flaws in it - that u might get a box with flaws. But my box is perfect. Good luck
