13 best kitchen kife
Kitchen knives are essential tools in any kitchen, and they come in various types, each designed for specific tasks. Utility knives are versatile knives that are smaller than a chef's knife but larger than a paring knife. They are often used for tasks that require more precision and control, such as slicing, dicing, and trimming.
Cutlery knife accessories can include items like knife sharpeners, knife blocks, magnetic strips, and blade guards. Knife sharpeners are crucial for maintaining the sharpness of the blades over time.Knife blocks or magnetic strips provide storage solutions to keep knives organized and easily accessible. Blade guards are used to protect the blades and ensure safe storage.
In the context of kitchen dining and home kitchens, knives are fundamental tools for preparing and cooking food. A good set of knives, including utility knives, can make food preparation more efficient and enjoyable. High-quality materials, such as stainless steel, are often preferred for kitchen knives due to their durability and resistance to corrosion.
When it comes to selecting kitchen knives, it's essential to consider the intended use, the type of materials used in the blades, the handle design, and overall quality. Proper care and maintenance, such as regular sharpening and safe storage, can extend the lifespan of kitchen knives.
In summary, utility knives, cutlery knife accessories, and other kitchen tools play a crucial role in the functionality of a kitchen. Choosing the right tools and maintaining them properly can enhance the cooking experience and contribute to the overall efficiency of food preparation.

User questions & answers
Question: | Difference between this chef knife to wusthof classic 8-inch cook's knife |
Answer: | I recommend wüsthof but that's my personal preference. I have all Wüsthof knives. But its all about what suits you. |
Question: | My knife says "classic wustof" on the blade while others (picture) say "wustof classic" with more information. is there a difference? just curious |
Answer: | a Chefs knife is longer and more curved for chopping, slicing, and dicing food where a cooks knife is used for food prep. They are both very sharp out of the box. I don't think the knife police will stop by and tell you that you are using the wrong knife. Just use what feels good in your hand while working in the kitchen. I use the large knife when cutting larger items like a tomato so that I can go all the way through it. I use the smaller one when cutting smaller vegi's |
Question: | How big is this knife |
Answer: | The Classic costs about 2X the Chef's. The Classic has a full steel tang. Look at where the blade joins the handle in the Amazon photos. See the difference? I didn't until I bought a Chef's. |
Question: | where to contact wusthof in u.s.a |
Answer: | The Gourmet line are stamped versus the Classic line which are forged. |

User questions & answers

Answer: | I highly suggest this knife. This is really a top-notch quality knife. |
Question: | Does it come with a sheath |

Question: | How is professional better than the chef series mac knife w granton? How much thicker n heavier as well |
Answer: | Hi Cory, I am including copied material directly from the MAC knives website for response to your question. For the Professional Series, "Currently our most popular series, the Professional Series features a thin 2.0-2.5mm blade for less wedging into cuts and an added bolster on the handle for weight and balance. Most of the knives in this series are made with our Original steel with the exception of the MSK-65 and MTH-80 which use the Superior steel. The weight of the bolster in combination with the thin blades makes these knives extremely well balanced in the center of your hand when using a Chef's grip; allowing you to cut through most foods using minimal effort. Except for the MTH-80, MSK-65, and MSL-105 which feature elevated handles, these knives have traditional European shapes with a straight handle and pointed tip." And for the Chef Series "The Chef Series has 2.0-2.5mm thin blades made with our original molybdenum steel. These knives are shaped with many traditional European shapes with a handle that is straight (in line with the spine of the blade) and has a pointed tip. Due to their light-weight nature, these knives can make quick work out of almost any food." The Professional Series is a little heavier, but not a lot. My personal observation is that the Professional knife is better balanced, whereas the Chef's knife feels heavier toward the blade end. I hope this answers your questions. Let me know if you have any others. Thanks! Karon at Creative Kitchen |

With its slightly curved blade, the Shun Chef’s knife easily rocks through fresh herbs for easy mincing too. The size and width of the blade makes it an ideal tool for preparing protein, fruits, vegetables and many other foods. Made with the Damascus layering technique, the blade is comprised of 69 total layers – 68 layers of alternating steel and a proprietary VG-MAX core. VG-MAX steel contains additional chromium, carbon, tungsten and cobalt for increased strength, durability, sharpness and resistance to corrosion. Handcrafted by highly skilled specialists in Japan, Shun knives are a harmonious combination of ancient blade-making traditions and cutting-edge innovation. The craftsmanship and quality of each knife is a testament to the high quality prioritized by Shun. No home is complete without a Classic 8-inch Chef’s Knife. Steel: Proprietary VG-MAX cutting core, 34 layers each side (68 total) stainless Damascus cladding
- VG-MAX steel is a formula exclusive to Shun with extra tungsten for a sharper edge, more chromium for corrosion resistance and additional cobalt and carbon for strength and durability
- Handle is ebony PakkaWood; PakkaWood is a hardwood infused with resin for a durable, water resistant finish, perfect for easy cleaning and tough enough for constant use
- For proper slicing, push the knife forward and down while cutting through food and then pull it up and back, repeating the process in a “locomotive” motion; this prevents chipping for smooth cuts

Shun
“Shun” (shoon) is a concept at the very heart of Japanese cuisine. In Japanese, shun is the word used to describe local, seasonal food when it is at the peak of its flavor and freshness—at the peak of its perfection.
Shun Cutlery is known for its exquisite beauty and ultra-premium performance. Yet as beautiful as Shun is on the outside, and as beautifully as it performs in your kitchen, its true beauty may be in what you don’t see.
Handcrafted in Japan
Shun is dedicated to maintaining this ancient tradition by continuing to handcraft each knife in our Seki City facilities. Each piece of this fine kitchen cutlery takes at least 100 individual steps to complete. While we maintain these ancient traditions of handcrafted quality, we also take advantage of thoroughly modern, premium materials and state-of-the-art technology to provide that traditional quality to millions of professional chefs and avid home cooks throughout the world.
Knife Steel is Essential
Heat treatment—an invisible, yet vital, process. This exacting process is fundamentally important to ensuring that your Shun provides lasting value. In heat treatment, the metal is heated and cooled to change its microstructure, bringing out its very best properties. With precise heat treatment, blade steel becomes finer grained, making it stronger and harder so blades can be thinner, sharper, and give you a longer-lasting edge. Shun’s experts are, quite simply, masters of the heat treatment process.
Quality and Performance
Shun is the exact moment when a fruit has reached its ideal ripeness, when a vegetable is at its very best, or when meat is at its most flavorful. Home cooks and professional chefs alike celebrate shun in their kitchens, eagerly awaiting each season’s bounty and serving every ingredient in its proper time.
Shun Cutlery proudly takes its name from this Japanese culinary tradition of eating the freshest food at the perfect moment. We took this name to honor this seasonal, mindful way of eating and as a mark of our dedication to making kitchen cutlery that is always at the peak of its perfection, too.
Shun Classic
Shun Classics are the original Shuns, the first Japanese-style knives to be made available to a wider audience in North America. Instead of heavy ponderous blades, Shun Classic blades are lighter with razor-sharp edges and crafted from advanced steel. Rather than weighty, Western handles, Shun Classic offers the graceful control of a traditional Japanese handle.
With Shun Classic, you'll discover a wide selection of traditional blade shapes as well as unique shapes - so you can always find the right handcrafted knife for every kitchen task.
Pakkawood Handle
These traditional Japanese-style handles have a slight ridge on the right side, which fits into the curl of the fingers for a comfortable and secure grip. Viewed end-on, the shape resembles the capital letter "D". Pakkawood is waterproof, incredibly durable, and won't harbor bacteria.
Shun is Different
If you've never owned a Japanese knife before, you'll immediately notice how different a Shun feels in the hand. Shun is harder, lighter, and sharper. Sharpened to a steeper angle (16 degrees) with an edge that will hold longer, the Classic line is designed to cut in a smooth, slicing motion.
Layered Steel
Shun proprietary VG-MAX cutting core is a high-end "super steel" that is extremely hard, enabling Shun Classic knives to take an incredible edge and hold it longer.
Stainless Damascus Cladding is made of 34 layers of stainless steel on each side of the blade, for a total of 69 layers. Classic's cladding supports the cutting core, adds stain and corrosion resistance, and looks elegant.
Shun and Sharpening
Shun brand products sold by Kai USA Ltd. are backed by Shun against manufacturing defects. In addition to supporting our products, we will be happy to sharpen your Shun or Kai knife for free for as long as you own the knife.

Precision-forged from a single piece of solid steel, these three rivet handle knives deliver optimum balance and safe handling. Professional chefs worldwide trust the tradition and quality of these impressive knives. This is a classic French chef's knife, with a broad blade and a curved cutting edge for rocking through a chopping task. The 8-inch blade suits most cooks, though those with small hands might prefer a 6-inch knife, and those with bigger hands might choose a 10-inch one. Classic three-rivet handles distinguish Pro S from Henckels's other quality lines, TwinStar, Five Star, and Four Star. Pro S handles are heavier and its knives less weight-forward. The steel used in the Pro S line is identical to that of the Five and Four Star lines. High-tech welding of knives this size and larger combines three steel types into what appears to be a single piece, so a knife's parts have distinct characteristics: a hard edge; a strong, stain-resistant bolster; and a stain- and corrosion-resistant tang. Traditionalists insist on single-piece forging for strength, but Henckels says the invisible welds are actually stronger than the steel.
