HISTORY & HERITAGE
In 1884, Master Cutler Karl Elsener opened a cutlery shop in Ibach, Switzerland. There, he and his cutlers’ union produced the finest steel cutlery, finished with the now-famous proprietary edge preferred globally by professionals and home cooks. Karl supplied the Swiss Army with its standard issue Soldier’s Knife and Officer’s Knife. After the death of his mother, and with the advent of stainless steel, Karl changed the name of the company to Victorinox. It is from those humble beginnings that a worldwide icon was born. Today, Victorinox is still owned and operated by the Elsener family, and both the company and family still resides in the small village of Ibach, Switzerland.
This Victorinox Swiss Army knife--released by the company that introduced the original Swiss Army knife in 1897--features the classic multitool design but with a modern twist. The device includes a knife blade, scissors, tweezers, a toothpick, a nail file with a screwdriver tip, and a key ring, but crosses things up by manufacturing the handle in attractive sterling silver with a white texture rather than the traditional red. The unique handle still contains the timeless Cross and Shield logo, but its fresh design makes it look completely original. The reworked device makes an ideal groomsmen's gift, keychain accessory, or upscale stocking stuffer. No hiker or camper should leave home without one.
All the tools on the SD Classic are made of 100 percent stainless steel, with rust-free aluminum alloy separators that keep the blades moving smoothly. The knife also features brass rivets and bushings that hold the layers together. The SD Classic measures 2-1/4 inches long, and like all Victorinox products, carries a lifetime warranty against defects in material and workmanship.
About Swiss Army Knives
In 1884, Swiss cutler Karl Elsener set up shop in Ibach-Schwyz, installing a waterwheel in Tobelbach Brook to run his grinding and polishing machines. Thus began what would become the international brand name Victorinox, a combination of Victoria, for Elsener's mother, and "inox," or stainless steel. Today, Victorinox produces watches, luggage, clothing, and, famously, Swiss Army Knives. The original product dates to 1897, when Elsener patented the Swiss Officer's and Sports Knife he supplied to the Swiss Army. Following World War II, American servicemen and women shopping in PX stores shortened the name to Swiss Army Knife, which lives on in English-speaking countries around the world and has become a metaphor for versatility.

The steel is tempered, annealed and polished to achieve the necessary hardness and provide optimum resistance to corrosion. Every knife embodies our four cornerstones: quality, functionality, innovation and iconic design.
Functionality
The Swiss Army Knife is the ultimate multi-tool. Whether you need a magnifying glass to read fine print or a metal saw to cut through iron, the Swiss Army knife has your back. In addition to a blade, these gadgets include various implements such as screwdrivers, bottle openers, and scissors.
Innovation is our Tradition
Innovation is our tradition and has been ever since we patented the first Swiss Army Knife in 1897. Here in the Swiss Knife Valley, we take lumps of molten steel and blend with generations of experience to forge knives which are loved all over the world. As we continue to find new ways to improve our knives we also strive to apply better solutions that meet new requirements and our customers unarticulated needs.
Iconic Design
In 1891 Karl Elsener, the owner of Victorinox, was under contract by the Swiss Army to produce a folding pocket knife to be suitable for use by soldiers for opening canned food and disassembling the Swiss service rifle. Elsener invented a special spring mechanism allowing him to attach the tools on both sides of the handle, using the same spring to hold the tools in place. This innovative design meant Elsener could put twice as many features on the knife, which included a blade, a second smaller cutting blade, reamer, can-opener, screwdriver, corkscrew, and wood fiber grips. The Swiss Army Knife is the most recognizable icon of utility and smart design, and the knives are still made exclusively in only two factories in Switzerland.

Question: | Does the pen come totally out or does retract in and out like the midnight manager |

Answer: | This one do not have the LED light |
Question: | Currently, is the knife translucent or solid red |

Question: | Does this model include a toothpick |
Answer: | No. I went on line and bought replacement toothpicks, pens, and tweezers and then replaced the tweezers with a toothpick. The slot is interchangeable. |

User questions & answers
Question: | The info says this is a 5" knife. Is this the size of the blade or the entire knife |
Answer: | I am not sure about the place of origin - but mine are incredibly sharp and I have not sharpened to date. I use nearly daily and have had them for 2-3 years. |
Question: | How do you sharpen this knife |
Answer: | No, it doesn't come with a sheath, but you can probably pick one up at Walmart or Lowes even if you have to buy a inexpensive tool of some sort. The tip of the knife is not sharp (that is my only disappointment with the knife.) With the tip not being sharp you can get by for awhile without a sheath. Overall it's pretty cool at a good price. |
Question: | Where can I get a cover for this knife |
Answer: | The tip is not sharp, rather rounded - I believe all ceramic knife is designed that way. It may not get into chicken joint. |
Question: | Is this knife cerrated enough to cut crusty bread loaves |
Answer: | Japan |

User questions & answers
Question: | Are they dishwasher safe |

Question: | Can these be sharpened with a regular knife sharpener |
Answer: | No, the sheets are split. However, you could possibly purchase separate inserts for different size photos & add them. |
Question: | How do you sharpen the Kyocera knives |
Answer: | The outside of the photo album is composite wood with heart cut outs in it and then metal clasping rings. The inside is just basic plastic photo pockets. |

Kyocera Revolution Ceramic Kitchen Knives
Kyocera's most popular advanced ceramic knife series for home and professional meal preparation. They are lightweight for ease of use in repetitive slicing tasks, producing less fatigue on hands and wrists. Our ceramic blades are ultra-sharp and hold their edge up to 10 times longer than traditional steel blades. The beveled doubled-sided, cutting edge will thinly slice anything, becoming a favorite knife in the kitchen.
- Ideal for prepping and straight cuts of fruits, vegetables, and boneless fish and meats.
- Always use a plastic or wood cutting board. Avoid cutting on marble, stone, glass, plates, or tile.
- Not meant for carving, prying, boning, and cutting hard foods, including hard cheese which involves twisting and/or flexing and requires a more flexible material, like steel.
- Our knives are dishwasher safe however, place on the top rack separate from other metal utensils.
Blades Made in Japan
Kyocera uses a proprietary advanced ceramic formula made exclusively in Japan. The advanced ceramic material has very dense sub-micron particles, which leave minimal voids. This translates into a stronger, denser blade that holds an edge longer than other ceramic knives - period! We are trusted brand that has been manufacturing ceramic knives since 1984.
Lightweight with an Unrelenting Sharpness
Kyocera ceramic cutlery is typically half the weight of equivalent steel knives, which require a full tang to achieve proper balance. Since the ceramic blade is so light, no artificial weight is added to the handle. There is minimal resistance when slicing. Clean, precise, less-intrusive cuts, requiring less pressure is what makes the Kyocera ceramic knife so unique.
Cutlery Maintenance and Storage
A Kyocera knife will quickly become your favorite tool in the kitchen for slicing tasks but please follow use and care guidelines. Consider a Kyocera storage solution, like a universal knife block to protect and store your knives. We also offer a diamond wheel home sharpener for easy maintenance of the cutting edge. All available on Amazon.
