Answer:	It is dried. Maple is pretty dense. There really isn't a need to stabilize maple except for a burl or adding color.

Answer:	It’s a leather sheath,& it’s made well except for the belt loop which is riveted But not sewn. I lost the knife and sheath while hunting But luckily I backtracked and found it.
