15 best wusthof fillet knives

Wusthof is a renowned German manufacturer of high-quality cutlery, and their fillet knives are no exception. Wusthof fillet knives are known for their precision, durability, and craftsmanship. Here's what you should know about Wusthof fillet knives:

  1. High-Quality Materials: Wusthof fillet knives are typically made from high-carbon stainless steel, which is known for its excellent edge retention, corrosion resistance, and ease of maintenance. This type of steel ensures that the blade remains sharp over time.

  2. Blade Design: Fillet knives by Wusthof are designed with a long, flexible, and narrow blade. This design allows for precise and delicate filleting of fish and other meats. The flexibility of the blade helps it contour to the shape of the meat, making it easier to remove bones and skin.

  3. Precision Cutting: These knives are engineered for precision cutting, making them ideal for tasks like deboning fish and trimming meats. The fine, tapered edge of the blade provides exceptional control and accuracy.

  4. Full Tang Construction: Many Wusthof fillet knives feature full tang construction, where the blade extends through the entire handle. This design enhances the knife's balance, stability, and overall strength.

  5. Handle Materials: Wusthof offers fillet knives with various handle materials, including synthetic materials like polyoxymethylene (POM) and natural materials like wood. The choice of handle material often comes down to personal preference for grip and aesthetics.

  6. Comfort and Ergonomics: Wusthof pays attention to ergonomics, ensuring that the handles are comfortable to hold and use for extended periods. The handle design minimizes hand fatigue, making it easier to work with the knife.

  7. Different Lengths: Wusthof fillet knives are available in different blade lengths to suit various tasks and preferences.Common lengths include 7-inch and 9-inch options.

  8. Maintenance: Like all quality knives, Wusthof fillet knives require proper care and maintenance. Hand washing is recommended to prolong the life of the blade and handle. Regular honing with a honing steel and occasional sharpening will keep the knife's edge sharp.

  9. Versatility: While fillet knives are primarily designed for filleting fish, they can also be used for other tasks, such as boning and trimming meats, especially in the kitchen. Their precision and flexibility make them a versatile tool.

  10. Warranty: Wusthof typically offers a limited lifetime warranty on their knives, which demonstrates their commitment to quality and customer satisfaction.

  11. Storage: Proper storage is important to protect the blade and ensure safety. Knife sheaths, magnetic strips, or knife blocks are common options for storing Wusthof fillet knives.

In summary, Wusthof fillet knives are respected for their quality and performance. They are designed to excel in filleting tasks, offering precision and control. With proper care, these knives can last for many years and become an essential tool in the kitchen for anyone who frequently prepares fish or meat.

User questions & answers

Question: Do 24oz cans fit this crusher
Answer: When it us mounted as instructed, the arm does not raise high enough for a 16 oz can. You need to secure maybe a piece of 2x4 behind the base. Then the arm extends fully. This is not mentioned in the instructions.
Question: Will this crush 8 oz aluminum cans, like the slim dr. pepper cans? (like these: http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/i/51pydz405dl._sy355aa355_pibundle
Answer: Our crusher works fine not mounted. The trick is to dent the can a little bit before crushing. Its almost impossible to crush the can if it's not dented a bit. I am very petite and not very strong, but I have no problem using the crusher on our countertop with a dented can. So glad I took a chance and bought this!
Question: does it crush 16 oz cans
Answer: Hello, thanks for your question. The .12” heavy duty blade is made from one piece fully forged high performance German stainless steel, the full tang distributes weight more evenly along the knife which provides great balance and leverage capabilities.
Question: Can you use this without mounting to a surface? (i.e. Lying flat on a counter or the floor when using it
Answer: Hello, thanks for your question. STEINBRÜCKE chef knives are shipped from US local warehouse, it takes approximately 5-7 business days to arrive.

User questions & answers

Question: Where is this knife made
Answer: The blade is 8 inches, overall length is almost 14.
Question: Does this knife have a full tang
Answer: I just tried it does stick but not very well. it does not have a lot mass and it's made differently from the classic line much thinner steel. please note, that there's a lot of people selling this product on amazon that are not wusthof authorized dealers please be aware...
Question: Does it come with a case/cover? Sharpener
Answer: The beauty of a knife like this is that it is made from a softer "Stamped" steel. Basically these knives are cookie cutter cut from sheets of steel rather than being drop-forged like the more expensive knives Wusthof and other fine cutlery brands make. The reason that is important is because stamped steel knives are very very easy to sharpen, and I mean REALLY SHARP sharpen. Of course, the down side is they don't keep their edge as long. As a professional I highly prefer these types of knives for every day kitchen use in a restaurant setting. When my Wusthof Classic's start to get dull I have a choice of either spending a lot of my own time sharpening them or sending them out to be sharpened... last time I did that with I think it was 4 knives, an 8" Chef, a 6" boning, a 4" pairing and a 14" slicer. what I didn't realize was that the shop charged for sharpening service by the inch :)) Long short answer is that with a diamond steel and a cheap v sharpener you can keep these cheap stamped knives near razor sharp with just a little daily effort. Since they are so cheap (comparably) you can even choose to replace them every year or two... or never! In my 12+ years as a Chef and kitchen grunt, I bought my last set of expensive forged knives 10 years ago... I will only be getting stamped knives such as this one ever after.
Question: How long is the blade
Answer: Made in Germany
Question: how many inches is this? Blade length and then handle please
Answer: Try to select DaSalla's at check out and we will ship it to you.
Question: Will this knife (and all Wusthof knives) stick to a magnetic knife holder
Answer: Have not personally done halibut, but at 7 inches it is a substantial blade. I normally do small fish like bluegills and trout and have found this knife to be a tad long for the tight spaces and precision cuts. I haven't had any issues on larger fish like walleye and pike though. I also have used the knife for processing venison and it works quite well. Like all my Wusthofs, it's razor sharp and good quality steel, so it stays that way for longer periods.
Question: Do you have to sharpen this knife very much
Answer: Yes, this blade is very flexible.Chefs Corner Store
Question: Where is this manufactured
Answer: From Wusthof.com - It is always recommended to use the same brand sharpener as the knives you are sharpening, because the steel hardness varies from one manufacturer to another. In order to properly sharpen your knives, you have to use a steel that is tempered at a higher Rockwell degree than the knife. WÜSTHOF forged knives are tempered at 58 Rockwell and the all sharpening products are tempered at 65 Rockwell.
