I toasted a slice of bread and put a slice of hard salami on it microwaved it for 15-20 seconds and dropped the poached egg on top and everyine was wild about it. I love this thing. It takes about 3-4 minues to make the poached eggs. I get it boiling on high and then turn my range down to #2 setting which is medium low. As soon as the egg top whitens up it is about done.

Like others have said, anything below an inch of water is plenty for the 3-5 minutes it takes to make 1 batch. If you are looking to make consecutive batches, then pour more water. The water shouldn't have to touch the cups, as you are steaming the eggs.

Answer:	I was going to ask the same question on this product. To answer others question why...to cook both the rice and the eggs at the same time (boiled not poached). I'm hoping I can use it in a pan while cooking my mexican rice.

Answer:	It will work with the 6 and 8 quart Instant Pot. The diameter on the poaching rack is 7.25 inches.

Answer:	The metal legs don't move when you put it in the pan so I wouldn't think it would scratch as long as you are careful. The edges are of the rack are smooth. I use it in a regular pan so I can't say for certain.
Question:	While steaming is there an Accumulation of water in the egg cup
Answer:	I have not had any accumulation, except when I lift the lid, and hold it at a tilt over an egg, and water drips down the lid, which, by the way it says not to do in the instructions. When you lift your lid, hold it level until you get it away from the cooking pot. It should only take four or five tries to get this technique down.

Question:	In the instructions it says "pour water to fill line". Is the fill line the point where the plastic meets the metal cup
Answer:	Hi. No it's not. It's hard to see but there's line and a water drop molded into the plastic just above the metal and next to the area where the holes are. There is one on each side of the perforated area, maybe an 8th of an inch above the metal. It's important that hot water be able to reach the top of the egg. I try to submerge the holder deeper than the fill line and swirl some hot water into the cup over the egg to keep the temp up.
Question:	How long do you poach the eggs to cook them? I have forgotten the directions
Answer:	I cook them about 4 minutes + or - . bring WATER to full boil , THEN lower to med. heat add eggs - start timing . I watch till I see the ' doneness ' I want then remove . hope this helps .

Answer:	The eggs sit in a non coated stainless steel cup. Lightly butter or oil the cup and the eggs slide out. Put 1 TBS of white vinegar in the water which hels to hold the egg whites together. Pretty idiot proof and makes great poached eggs,
Question:	Is the egg in contact with only metal? (I threw away my plastic cup egg poacher) Also, are the any holes in the cup
Answer:	Yes, I use large eggs and those do not overflow the cup as it is all metal. Trick is I also use Crisco spray oil before so egg slides out easily with a couple of drops of vinegar in the boiling water helps keep egg from spilling out while cooking. I really like these especially on my eggs benedict!
