Use and care
- Before using your pan for the first time, hand-wash with warm, soapy water. Rinse and dry thoroughly, then season by lightly rubbing cooking oil onto the cooking surface and heating over medium heat for two to three minutes. When cool, hand-wash in warm, soapy water, then rinse and dry thoroughly.
- Do not use nonstick aerosol cooking sprays in your nonstick pan. They will leave a residue, which may be difficult to remove and will cause foods to stick to the pan.
- To preserve the look and performance of your pan, we recommend using silicone, nylon, bamboo or wood utensils when cooking. Regardless of how hard the cooking surface is, using metal utensils or sharp objects may damage the cooking surface over time.
- Cooking using low to medium heat only. Since aluminum yields excellent conductivity and delivers even heat distribution, the usage of high heat is not necessary. In fact, the use of high heat can permanently discolor and damage your pan.
- Keep the pan on the burner only during the necessary time for cooking. Do not overheat empty pan.
- Always use protective mitts to safely handle a hot pan.
- Avoid sudden temperature changes such as immersing hot pan in cold water. Always let the pan cool before washing.
- When using your pan on ceramic glass stovetops, always lift (do not slide) to move to avoid scratching the cooktop.

User questions & answers
Question: | Are the handles solid stainless steel or hollow |
Answer: | I believe hollow in middle. All riveted so hard to tell., love love love trimontina. Pots themselves are all one piece. Some pots have a ridge at bottom. |
Question: | What is the actual size of Tramontina Tri-Ply Clad 5 Qt Dutch Oven |
Answer: | The Tramontina Tri-Ply Clad 5 Qt Dutch Oven measures 12-3/4 by 9-3/4 by 6-1/2 inches. Please note: These measurements include the side handle and the lid. If you need the dimensions of the Dutch Oven vessel (without counting the lid or side handles) the approximate measurement is 9-3/4" in diameter with a vessel height of 4 inches. |
Question: | Is this pan indeed made in Brazil? I see many pans like this made in China |
Answer: | Referring to "Tramontina 80116/024DS Gourmet Stainless Steel Induction-Ready Tri-Ply Clad Covered Sauce Pan, 4-Quart, NSF-Certified, Made in Brazil": If the first two digits of the second set of numbers of the model number is "02" (i.e., "02" in 80116/024DS), then it is made in Brazil. If the first two digits of the second set of numbers of the model number is "55" (i.e., "55" in 80116/554DS), then it is made in China. This information is from the Tramontina customer service department (I had the same question and wrote to them). I just received the 2-quart version from Walmart with the model number 80116/562DS; the box and pan both say this item was also made in China, but I don't yet know what the distinction is between the "55" (made in China) and the "56" (also made in China)... I again wrote to customer service but haven't heard back yet. Incidentally, the third digit of the second set of numbers in the model number (i.e., "4" in 80116/024DS) appears to refer to the size of the pan: 1 = 1.5-quart, 2 = 2-quart, 3 = 3-quart, and 4 = 4-quart. Hope this helps. |
Question: | Does anyone have information regarding "how to cure" this pan to avoid food sticking |
Answer: | Although stainless steel cookware is not "nonstick", there are some things that may help lessen the "sticking" of your food to your pans when cooking. 1. Take your food out of the refrigerator and allow it to thaw before cooking.(Cold food has a tendency to stick more than food at room temperature.) 2. Always preheat your pan on low to medium for about 2 minutes before you start to cook. 3. Add oil or butter to the cookware and allow it to heat up. 4. Place your food in the pan and let it cook all the way on one side before you turn it. If you try to turn it too soon it will almost always stick. 5. Never put your pan on high or med high unless you have a pan full of cold liquid. The cool liquid will pull the heat from the pan and keep the metal in the pan cooler. 6. Turn the heat down to med low or low once you add your food to the pan. Your pan has an aluminum core that will retain the heat, so if you keep it too high your food may burn or stick. CLEANING: For hard-to-clean, stuck-on foods, soak cookware in hot, soapy water prior to washing. Hopefully, these tips will help you, when cooking with stainless steel. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Is this pan suitable for induction cooking |
Answer: | Unfortunately, the Tramontina Ceramica_01 Grill Pan does not work on induction cooktops. It does, however work exceptionally on gas, electric, and regular ceramic glass cooktops. If you are interested in a Tramontina grill pan for induction cooking, you may want to consider a grill pan from Tramontina's LYON product line (Link: https://www.amazon.com/Tramontina-Limited-Editions-11-Inch-Sapphire/dp/B005FJ7DWY/ref=sr_1_1?m=A28BSEPUVCIASB&s=merchant-items&ie=UTF8&qid=1497537004&sr=1-1&keywords=tramontina+lyon+grill+pan) or the Tramontina Enameled Cast Iron product line (Link: https://www.amazon.com/Tramontina-Enameled-Grill-11-Inch-Gradated/dp/B00QLHGA0A/ref=sr_1_1?s=home-garden&ie=UTF8&qid=1497537029&sr=1-1&keywords=tramontina+grill+pan). |
Question: | Hello. Is the bottom flat in the middle |
Answer: | Yes |
Question: | Did anyone find a lid that would have a good fit for 12" pan |
Answer: | This product was manufactured to be an "open" Fry Pan, and unfortunately does not have a lid that was made for it. However, there are many universal lids online that may fit this pan, if you are looking for something that will cover your food. You will need to find a lid that is approximately 12 inches in diameter, but please note that these lids may not have a precision fit, since they were not made specifically for this pan.An alternative option would be to purchase the 11" Deep Saute Pan (Item#80110/045DS) in this product line, which comes with a lid. Although it is one inch smaller, it has a bit more functionality than the open fry pan. It still has a wide base for searing and browning foods, and its higher side walls allow you more options to braise, simmer and fry savory meals for your family. |
Question: | I have a ceramic pan like this one but when cooking with tomato sauce it seems to not come out of the coating. Any suggestions |
Answer: | I see this question a lot with ceramic pots and pans. Both my sets are ceramic coated, and this is my trick. Sprinkle baking soda all over the stained area, and then pour some vinegar, to cover, over the baking soda. It'll bubble up for a moment and then settle. Let it sit for at least 20 to 30 minutes, longer if possible. I then take one of my silicone scrubbers and most stains come right out. I used this trick with the WearEver set I bought second hand. The lady swore up and down that the pans were permanently stained, but that they were otherwise perfectly fine. I wish I could show her that they looked practically brand new one I did this cleaning treatment, and most, if not all of the stains were lifted. Just like cast iron, it takes a little bit of know-how in order to maintain them. And it takes some knowledge to know how to cook in them. One of my biggest tips with ceramic is to not turn up the heat too high, especially when the pot/pan is empty waiting to be cooked in. High heat can produce tiny little spider cracks on the surface, thus making them harder to cook in, as its non-stick surface is now broken, and potentially make it harder to clean. |

User questions & answers
Question: | What sizes are the pans |
Answer: | The set is exceptional - I recommend it. There is an 11 inch covered deep skillet, a 10 inch saute skillet, an 8 inch omelet pan, a 4 qt. stockpot, a 2 qt., and 1 qt. saucepan. All have held up beautifully so far, and seem that they will be the last ones I purchase. |
Question: | Other than the price and the color, are there differences in the construction of this pan snd the one like it that is metallic copper colored |
Answer: | This Tramontina Grill Pan is part of the Ceramica_01 "Deluxe" line within the Tramontina GOURMET collection. It has a heavier gauge than the Ceramica_01 Metallic Copper Grill Pan (Item#80110/047DS) in the Tramontina STYLE Collection. The handle on the black square grill is of cast stainless steel construction with silicone soft-grip accents, while the handle of the metallic copper square grill is mostly soft-grip black silicone over stainless steel. Both grill pans have a durable porcelain enamel exterior, a PFOA- and PTFE-free ceramic interior, are made in Italy and are offered under a manufacturer's Lifetime Warranty. |
Question: | How long has the pan remained non-stick? Does it lose effectiveness over time |
Answer: | I love the pan/s. I have now purchased three different sizes of this pan. They are great. You will only have a problem cleaning them if you cook with the heat on high. Never cook with the temperature on high. Never use any metal spoons, forks, etc. I have had these pans for several months now, and remain non-stick. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Is the lid glass or metal? The description says metal, but one of the question/answer people said glass. Can anyone illuminate me? Thanks |
Answer: | Please note the Tramontina Gourmet Prima saucepan, casserole, dutch oven, saute pan, sauce pot, and stock pot come with a stainless steel lid. The fry pans in the Prima line DO NOT come with a lid. They're open fry pans. |
Question: | Is the base 12 inches or the lip |
Answer: | The pan is 12 inches inside the lip and 8.5 inches at the base. I've been very happy with this product - it heats up quickly and doesn't require much heat to make it hot. It's a little heavy because it's very well made. The Tramontina Frying pan is a very good quality product, especially for the price. |
Question: | is this the pan that America's test kitchen reviewed |
Answer: | It might have been at one point, but the model shown here now (Oct '14) is probably not the same one tested by ATK simply because the one tested has the wide base, according to the test article in the magazine, that one has large base (around 10") and short sides. This one, according to the answers provided to the question, "What is the diameter of the base of the 12" pan?" from 2013, are around 8"-ish. This one also has sides that are too high. I have the article and the one shown here looks totally different, if you look at the sides and the area of the base. I didn't buy the one listed here but like others, I want to buy the one tested by ATK, but after thorough searching I haven't been able to find it. At one point Walmart carried the exact model but no more. That's probably the case at Amazon. I just want to clarify this so people don't get a pan with a small base and be disappointed. Now, I know the other buyers might really like this pan and don't care about the size of the cooking area but I know I need a pan with the large enough base to accommodate the amount of food specified in a recipe (and besides 8" or 8.5" is too small for a 12" pan) and if I get this because of the wrong info given out, I would be really angry and don't forget the hassle of shipping it back or keeping it and hating it. |
Question: | what is the difference between the 12 inch tri-ply Prima pan and the Domas pan |
Answer: | Linda, the constrution of the pans is identical, and food will cook the same in them. On the Prima pan, however, which is the one I purchased, there is an edge around the pan's edge intended to make it easier to pour liquids from the pan. It works okay, and since the prices are similar I'd go for it. By the way, as for the pan itself, this skillet has literally changed the way I cook. Its heat-retaining core is efficient and heats and cooks evenly. The size of the 12" skillet will allow you to add a full pound of pasta to your sauteed ingredients with pasta water to finish your dish. It browns food better than any pan I've ever had, and I find myself looking for excuses to use it instead of my very expensive (and nice, but just not the same) saute pan. If you're a serious cook, you need this, and there's no reason to spend more for All-Clad or any other pricey brand. Finally, this pan is beautiful, and cleans up easily with a squirt of liquid Barkeeper's Friend Liquid Cleaner along with your dishwashing foam or liquid after a short soak. |
Question: | Is this pan induction friendly |
Answer: | The Tramontina Duo 10 In Stainless Steel Fry Pan is compatible with induction cooktops. Please do not hesitate to contact us at [email protected] for further assistance. Thank you very much for your inquiry! |
