Question:	Is the bottom glazed as well or is it unfinished and rough
Answer:	Yes, it has a large open mouth to allow you to reach in for salt so I suppose dust or air particles get in. It doesn’t seem to impact anything with respect to taste or illness. If I was sanding dry wall, I would cover it but day to day not a problem.

Answer:	Hi there. Yikes - poor you, how awful for you. I don't know if rats will eat the salt but I strongly recommend that you don't buy this particular salt pig. I bought one and my salt absorbed moisture and went into hard lumps (no matter how dry the air in my house was). I think the shape must be wrong, or the fact that it has no glazing on the inside for the moisture to slide away from the salt is the problem. I bought a lovely salt pig from "Truly French" - not Amazon. the shape and glazing mean that my salt always stays dry.

Question:	How do I get a food stain (tomato juice-?) off the lid? I love mine, will buy others for presents, but how do I clean the bamboo
Answer:	The bottom is unglazed but I would not consider it rough. The glaze extends approx. 1" into the interior. The rest of the interior is unglazed. I purchased two salt pigs in cobalt blue, one for Kosher salt and the other for coarse ground pepper. They sit on a granite composite counter top and I use them every day. They are a bit pricey but since they are a well made and a very attractive visual addition to the kitchen, I have no regrets.

Cleaning and care
