User questions & answers
Question: | Is the brushed stainless more difficult to clean than polished stainless and do you have to clean "with the grain" when using Bar Keeper's Friend |
Answer: | I believe that is right. I have had mine for approx 6 months now so not sure how accurate that is. I love these pans. |
Question: | I'm not a chef but a homemaker. I'm confused with some other all clad not d5 that they complain about the fish or egg sticking to the stainless steel |
Answer: | I have a glass cook top and they do just fine. I haven’t had trouble with the lids- there is one that will fit each pot. Not one for each pot but one that will fit the pots in the set. |
Question: | Can this set be use on induction cooktops |
Answer: | They clean so easily, we don't put them in the dishwasher. I've read mixed reviews as to dishwasher results, so we just don't do it. |
Question: | Is this set made in the USA? I know some of All-Clad's products are and some aren't |
Answer: | As with any cookware with metal handles, if you leave them on enough heat for long enough, you should expect the handles to get hot. I wouldn't say these get any hotter than any other cookware with metal handles. Use a potholder if you need to. |

User questions & answers
Question: | are the lids really manufactured overseas? i thought all-clad was now having all components manufactured in the US |
Answer: | I do believe that the non bonded parts of All-Clad are made in China. Not 100% certain, since I bought my cookware over 5 years ago, but that is what I hear now. |
Question: | Is there any exposed aluminum on rims? 2 previous ss sets have an exposed aluminum strip on rim so they corrode in dishwasher |
Answer: | Yes, there is a very small strip on the edge (2 mm or so), which is simply the layer of aluminum between the layers of steel. Even though All-Clad states these are dishwasher safe, we always recommend hand washing your better quality knives and cookware.Chefs Corner Store |
Question: | Is All Clad Copper Core worth paying extra for |
Answer: | the consensus answer I have found online is that copper core is NOT worth paying extra for. the all clad line with best temperature performance is actually the MC2, but the regular, 3 layer sandwich of SS around aluminum is the all-around winner because it is versatile (i.e. induction capable) and dishwasher safe, unlike MC2. started searching because I was contemplating purchase of a calphalon accucore set that was "deal of the day". learned the most at centurylife.org in an article about "is all-clad worth it". the answer was yes for the d3 all-clad but not for copper core. |
Question: | Is this 18/10 stainless, 304 surgical stainless, or 316 surgical stainless |
Answer: | In all of my research before purchasing my All-Clad I have not come across the use of 304 or 316 surgical stainless, only 18/10. The Tri-ply cookware line that I have purchased (from Amazon and elsewhere) features a 3-ply design, 18/10 steel cooking surfaces, aluminum cores for the even heating, and the highly polished exterior 18/0 stainless for lasting beauty and induction compatibility. Hope this helps. |

User questions & answers
Question: | is it nostick |
Answer: | The 2.5 qt. has an inside diameter of 7 inches; the 1.6 qt. has an inside diameter of just over 6 inches. I would say neither of them fit your criteria. |
Question: | Is it true that the lid is made in china and/or not in the usa as is advertised |
Answer: | China |
Question: | How does this pan compare to the 4112? Description sounds very similar but this price is much lower (with a lid.) Just because of sale |
Answer: | It does not have a non stick surface. I have not had a problem getting it clean. I LOVE THIS POT. Perfect size. So glad to find this line. Great stuff. |
Question: | Why such a hard time cleaning this pan?! Just bought. First All-Clad. But sticking and staining. Even with Barkeep's Friend. Please help. Thx |
Answer: | I use mine for induction cooking only, but the following is from the description as listed by the manufacture: Suitable for all cooking source, electric, gas, infrared, induction stove or glass and ceramic cooktop.Based on their description I would suggest trusting what they say, using a gas burner is ok. Amazon will refund your money if they're found to be lying. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Why is the 1-1/2 qt. about $100 and the 3 qt. about $150, yet the 2 qt is |
Answer: | I am not sure of how the brushed stainless performs compared to polished. What I can say is that I am very satisfied with the brushed stainless version. No need to go with the grain from what I can see. Using Bar Keepers is certainly a good idea to keep your cookware looking great. What I would avoid at all cost, is using overly abrasive material when cleaning as the surface can be scratched. |
Question: | How does the handle on this feel compared to the stainless steel tri-ply version |
Answer: | To cook eggs and fish without sticking, Google "Right time to add oil to a stainless steel pan. Mercury Ball Test". No you don't use mercury. The key is the right heat. The video from youtube will teach you how.I used it on my set and it worked. It's like magic |
Question: | Is the lid glass? Hard to tell from the photo |
Answer: | The induction sensitivity is in the outer layer. These items are constructed with an outer layer of stainless steel that does not have nickel alloyed into it and is therefore magnetic and can be used well with induction. It is this outer layer that gets hot on an induction cooktop. The inner stainless layer is a nickel blend and induction has no effect on it. All heat conducts from the outer layer through the aluminum ones to the inner pan to cook, just like using an electric or gas burner would. All this from the All-Clad website description of the d5 series. |
Question: | Does this pot come with a lid |
Answer: | Pans are made in USA. Other non pan items, like the tea kettle, are made in China. They have great customer service if you call up. I've just ordered these and had All Clad in the past and had to get rid of everything in our house, so lost them. Looking forward to receiving these in the next few days!! |

User questions & answers
Question: | What is the diameter of the flat cooking surface of the pan |
Answer: | There is special sale pricing on some items that may be lower than pricing on smaller items. Also some third party sellers on Amazon may be selling items at prices that are not approved by All-Clad. These seller may be unauthorized to sell All-Clad. |
Question: | What is the size of the base in the 10 inch pan or the 8 inch? As they need to be the same size (diameter) as the induction stove |
Answer: | I don't have the tri-ply, but I like the long handle on my large stove top (six burners) and the small handle to care it safely, distribute the weight on my aging wrists! Of course the small handle gets hot however as a chef, I always have a side towel in one hand and tongs in the other! Love this pot's capacity/weight ratio from steaming veg. to making a small soup. |
Question: | Does this pan work on induction |
Answer: | No, the lid is Stainless Steel. |
Question: | Is this PFOA free |
Answer: | Comes with a lid and all the quality you would expect from the best cookware currently available. absolutly no hot spots and cleans up in a breeze if you follow the instructions. Highly recommend! |

User questions & answers
Question: | does this work on all induction cooktop |
Answer: | 5 7/8" |
Question: | Stay cool handles |
Answer: | 10 inch pan has a 7 inch base, 8 inch pan has 6 inch base |
Question: | what is the height(without the lid) and inside width of this pot |
Answer: | Absolutely. That's the reason I bought it...our old non-stick was aluminum (which doesn't work on induction). So, that's not the only reason i bought All-Clad. We've had great performance from all of our All-Clad cookwear. I see no reason why this stuff wouldn't last a lifetime of cooking. |
Question: | Can I buy just the lid to replace one that was lost |
Answer: | I believe so. Google search came up with "Non-stick coating is PFOA-free and heat resistant to 500 degrees" |

User questions & answers
Question: | is the cooking sticky |
Answer: | Polished exterior! |
Question: | How deep is this pan |
Answer: | The pot I have is lipped. |
Question: | What is your favorite thing to cook is this pan, and why is this pan unique to that meal |
Answer: | It does not come with a lid, inside diameter is 4 1/2 inches (11 cm). Depth is about 2 1/2 inches (6 cm). I use it for warming butter/oils. It is small, and a lid might cause boil overs. |
Question: | How large is the diameter of the cooking surface? not the diameter of the pan itself |
Answer: | My butter warmer was made in the USA. I returned the only All-Clad product (pizza stone) that was not made in the USA. I won't pay their high prices for products made overseas. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Will it work on an induction cooktop |
Answer: | My 8 inch pan is exactly 8 3/8 inches across the very top of the pan outside edge to outside edge. This is where the lid would rest. I use the lid from one of my 3qt All-clad pot which the dimension on the lid where it sets inside the fry pan is 7 3/4. The fry pan has a little roll down on the stainless. I hope that is clear and helpful. |
Question: | Is the handle cool |
Answer: | is 41126 shinier than 4112 |
Question: | How wide and deep is this pan |
Answer: | The answer is two inches. My pan is a 12" skillet. You can fit a whole extra piece of chicken in a 12" pan that won't fit in a 10". Frankly, you need both, and I already had a 10" skillet. I would have bought the 14" but my stove probably isn't large enough. |
Question: | What is the diameter and height of this pan from base to edge of pan? not counting cover. Thanks a lot guys |
Answer: | I found this link that says 500 is the max, but it may develop a blue tinge which can be cleaned. http://chowhound.chow.com/topics/892615 |
