Question: | Is the kettle a metallic blue color or is that just the lighting |
Answer: | It's silver. |
Question: | Is this kettle smaller or larger than vkb-120hsv? Capacity. Websites have conflicting mi/oz and I can't find what is right. Thanks |
Answer: | Smaller. The 100 is a 1.0 litre (600ml effective), meaning you can really only boil 0.6L. The 120 is 1.2 litre (800ml effective). So basically, the 100 is a 0.6L, and the 120 is a 0.8L. Totally straight-forward, right? ;)Anyhow, hope this helps! |
Question: | I ordered this kettle and it says "Made in China" on the bottom. Has Hario started manufacturing these in China, or did I get an inferior model |
Answer: | It depends on the size. According to Hario website, the 1.0L is only "Made in Japan" while the 1.2L can be "Made in Japan" or "Made in China". I ordered a 1.2L (sold by Amazon) last week and got a "Made in Japan". |

User questions & answers
Question: | I haven't ventured into loose leaf tea yet. Can I steep bagged tea in this? If yes, how many bags per pot |
Answer: | hello, yes you could steep tea bags in this tea pot. I would recommend two tea bags, it makes 3 8oz cups of tea. I love my tea pot I use it daily with tea bags and loose leaf. |
Question: | Can I pour boiling water from a kettle into this? I don't have a microwave |
Answer: | Yes, it is perfectly safe to pour boiling water into your Hario Chacha teapot. We have been using ours for over two years and absolutely love it. We pour boiling water into our pot, and we also microwave the teapot without the metal screen, it's safe both ways. |
Question: | Can you wash the teapot using a dishwasher |
Answer: | Absolutely. That is one of the reasons I bought this specific pot. The hubs won’t Touch dirty dishes that are hard wash only. However, as many have said, I rarely end up sending it through the wash. It really does simply require a swish. |
Question: | For how many people is 700ml teapot |
Answer: | 700mL is about 23 ounces. American-style coffee and tea mugs vary wildly, so the serving greatly depends on you. For comparison, a can of soda is 12oz, so that's two cans. Diner-style mugs are more along the lines of 6-8oz, so that's 3-4 diner mugs. Traditional British teacups that look more like the rest of the world are in the range of 4-6oz, which means roughly 4-6 cups. |

Question: | Can I boil hot water in this and then brew my tea? Can I put the glass pot directly on my stove top |

Answer: | It is made in Japan. Please send a direct question to the seller for the photo image. |
Question: | Why does the packaging say it’s made in Thailand |
Answer: | I am a seller and have answered questions about the country of origin several times in the past that the kettle is made in Japan. User questions & answers
Question: | I just got this. when water starts to boil, it bubbles out of the spout making a mess. what am i doing wrong? vent in top is open |
Answer: | Thank you for reaching out! What type of stove to you have? Gas or electric? If your stove produces an open flame please make sure not to exceed medium heat (the flame should never reach outside the base). Gas stovetops produce a much higher heat output which can result in kettles overflowing. Also, how full is the kettle? Can you send a picture of the water line you're filling to? We are happy to help and will make sure we fix this issue. |
Question: | How many ounces of water does it hold |
Answer: | 40.57683us fl oz |
Question: | What is the nickel content |
Answer: | Per the included manual, the body assy is 304 SS. The bottom is triple-thick. (Ok to heat upon burner.) ☆ 304 SS on water-contact surfaces. ☆ Bottom is 430 SS flame/burner - with aluminium in between the 304 and 430 surfaces. Look at spec for 304 SS to see what element content comprises 304 SS to find your % answer. BTW, the cap-mounted thermometer is genius... JB |

User questions & answers
Question: | Is the thermometer cover glass or plastic |
Answer: | Feels like plastic ... Hopefully the mfg will answer |
Question: | How much does the kettle have to be filled before the temperature can be read for it |
Answer: | The thermometer displays the temperature the moment it comes in contact with the water. That would vary according to the temperature of the water you put in. I typically heat one 6 oz. cup at a time, using room temperature, filtered water from a Brita. A six ounce cup of 20 degree water takes approx. 2-1/2 minutes to reach 200 degrees. The amount of time would increase or decrease in proportion to the amount and temperature of the water you begin with. Hope this helps. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Where is it made, China or Japan |
Answer: | This product is made in Japan. |
Question: | Is the interior tin coated? I know it is silver and is either stainless steel or tin, does anyone know for sure |
Answer: | It looks like tin to me! |
Question: | Is the kettle solid copper with tin or nickel on the inside? I don't want copper plated stainless steel |
Answer: | Tin inside |
Question: | i don't want the "protective" laquer (?) on the kettle. I like a natural patina. Has anyone successdully removed this protective layer |
Answer: | I used Copper Glo and Bar Keepers Friend on this and it came off. I don't believe this is 100% copper though so the patina actually doesn't look like a typical copper item normally would. I wish i left the protective layer on. |

Question: | Will the large BeeHouse dripper fit on top of this |
Answer: | not sure what the Beehouse dripper dimensions are but the opening diameter of the Hario, at its tightest point is 2 9/16 of an inch. |
Question: | Does it fit the Hario V |
Answer: | I have the Hario VDC-02W V60 Ceramic Coffee Dripper, White. I'm quite certain that the range server would fit any of the Hario V60 products. |
Question: | Can a Hario ceramic dripper be placed directly on top of this server, or do I need the station to work the two things together |
Answer: | Yes you can. Both the Hario ceramic dripper and the Hario server have a flat surface that allows you to put them one in top of the other. The station is recommended to avoid a quick movement that could cause one or both to break, but with proper handle you can use them without the station. Also, you can build your own station! :) |
Question: | Does the Kalita wave 185 fit without issue onto this carafe |
