Answer:	I bought the Tovolo Ice cream tubs and they are very sturdy with a removable inner plastic liner for easy cleaning. The large bowl itself that fits inside the machine is not supposed to have ice cream frozen in it because it can damage it. I leave the empty bowl in my freezer until I'm ready to make a batch and then empty the contents into a Tovolo tub. I looked at other tubs but this brand seemed to have the best reviews, was reusable, and decent in price. They fit about 1.5 quarts and I have a little extra in the machine that I either eat or just put in a small Tupperware dish. I know you can go directly on the Cuisinart website if you need any part numbers for a specific model. I did see extra bowls for the machine on their site and on amazon. Just get your model number for your machine and type that in the search box.

Answer:	My Nespresso machine tells me the instructions (100 ml solution to 500 ml water) as soon as I begin the descaling process. Of course I always forget this and waste time searching the internet every time I need to descale.
Question:	Will this work on an EC
Answer:	In no uncertain terms, yes, though with caution in doing so. The correct dilution is one dose, (5 doses in bottle) per liter of water. The big worry is whether it removes TOO MUCH scale at once which could cause the internal valves or hoses to clog. If it is already clogged it probably won't work as it has to get through the water circuit to work. If it still does have flow, depending on usage history, amount of minerals in your water and descaling history, (if any) it could blast too much scale loose at once. Depending on the combinations of the variables it would probably be conservative on the dose and do it several times. And when doing so do it slowly and allow a couple of minutes for the solution to steep inside the channels by starting flow, pausing for a couple of minutes, starting flow again , over a course of 12 to 15 minutes. The solution as the machine is designed is meant to flow through the tap valve and not the coffee head. Then rinse with a full container of clean water after descaling

Answer:	Get a 51-mm tamper.
Question:	How long between shots will I need to wait? Can I use this when entertaining guests
Answer:	Almost immediately; maybe 5 to 10 seconds max. The water in the boiler is already hot, so it only takes seconds to bring the temperature back up after one shot of water is used. By the time you get rid of the puck or used pod and reload the filter, the green temperature light is back on , and you are ready to brew another shot. I do this when making double shots, as getting 2 pods into the filter is difficult and the pump strains to push the water through the extra paper of 2 pods. If you want to brew doubles without having to reload the filter, I recommend using loose grounds, but that's messier than using pods. I prefer the pods, and reloading. Using it for guests should not be a problem.

Answer:	This was terribly complicated to use. You HAD to have the correct cup, which is very, small and nothing I wanted to fool with. Eventually I decided to look for a frother alone to heat milk & make my normal coffee. I LOVE THIS FROTHER. THE NAME IS "Capresso". You can buy at Bed Bath and Beyond or Amazon. Works great!

I am using it today with the power transformer and so far I have no issues. Both units operate efficiently and so far after several weeks I do not see any issues. Make sure you aren't pressing the on/off button that is on the left side of the unit. That is for espresso. The On/off button for coffee is in the front.

Answer:	This machine is made in Italy....I ordered another with compressor and it WAS made in China. VERY poor quality, lots of plastic and the turn on knob was broken upon removal from packing material. This machine is fabulous. I have made at least 100 plus quarts and pints since purchase. We give as gifts to housewarming or hostess gifts for dinner parties. I have only one complaint it is about 45 lbs very heavy to lift. It was well worth the money not like any other machine out there. PERFECT ice cream/ gelato every time. A tip on vanilla. I use Nielsen-Massey Pure Vanilla Bean Paste. Takes that vanilla ice cream to a higher level. Just delicious.
Question:	Service and reliability... Where do you go to get them repaired after 1 yr. warranty? How many people have owned then >6 yrs. We make 200 pints a yr
Answer:	I have not had to get mine repaired. I have owned mine for 8 years and make 2 or 3 batches per week. I think it is taking slightly longer to freeze than when it was brand-new, but it still freezes nicely. I have always followed the rule of waiting 10 minutes between batches to keep the compressor running good.
Question:	On average, how long does it take to churn a single batch of gelato
Answer:	I always turn on the chiller for 10-12 minutes before I add the ice cream mix to the bowl. It takes about 25 minutes to get the mix frozen to a very thick consistency. I always make sure the mix is super cold, too. The machine will automatically shut off, if the mix gets too thick. FYI - in my opinion, regardless of the recipe--this machine does not churn slow enough to make true gelato. That said, everything I have made has turned out fabulous in this machine!

Answer:	I had to buy the handle for the EC220 as mine came with the incorrect handle, as long as it will fot your handle it will work
Question:	I just purchased it and it fits perfectly but it is not sifting... the coffee gets stuck at the top and does not filter down. ..am I doing something
Answer:	The only time my machine does that is when is time to thoroughly clean the filter, but if yours is new, that shouldn't happen. Do you have the same problem when you run water through it, without any coffee? I would try cleaning the assembly anyway. Unscrew the bottom, separate the silver holder from the seal and the filter. Take the filter out of the gasket/seal and then take the filter apart from the black screw end. Make sure all the filter holes are clean (look at it it against the light) and if not, use a toothbrush to clean them. The black screw part is a bit trickier. In the center of the side that the filter goes on, there is a round button (I don't know how to call it), you have to be sure that when you pressure against it with the end of a spoon, it goes freely down and that you can see on the other side, a cap moving on top of the screw. Clean it all well with the toothbrush and put the whole assembly back together. With usage, that black part gets sticky and kind of glued together and the pressure of the coffee is not enough to open it, so no coffee comes out. Hope this helps...

Answer:	I have never tried to make a half batch. I have made batches less than a full batch and it worked fine. Breville only wants you to use 3-1/2 cups of liquid so a full batch is only a little over a quart anyway. Most of the recipes in the gelato/ice cream books are just about right for this machine - about 3-1/2 cups of liquid. I suspect most of the machines on the market are about the same.
Question:	Can the ice cream really come out firm on the hardest level? I hate soft serve and like firm scoops
Answer:	It will not be firm like what you have out of your freezer. It will be more like soft serve, you need to put it in your freezer for a bit after it is done. But really, that's the way all ice cream is, even what you get in a creamery. I actually returned this unit and bought a Cuisnart instead. I wasn't pleased with the paddle on this unit. It seemed very flimsy and when the ice cream got thicker had a hard time stirring. At one point it even stopped stirring and burned up the bearings. They replaced it for me at no charge but by that point I had already decided to change brands. If you look at it and compare to the Cuisnart you will see what I mean, the paddle just needs a little reinforcement IMO.
Question:	Hello , I am quiet not able to decide between Breville and Cusinart ICE100, also my concern is does 12 hardness settings actually work as described
Answer:	I love my Breville. The consistency settings range between sorbet, frozen yogurt, gelato, and ice cream (softer to harder). I think the settings work, but I like to make ice cream, so I now just keep it on the hardest setting. That setting will give you the consistency of something near a soft serve. One of the reasons I chose this one over the Cuisinart ICE100 is that it has the "auto" setting. You cannot always gauge how long it will take when using different bases and styles of ice cream (this one has both options). Additionally, you can set it to make a sound when it is time for mix-ins and when it is ready. Also, it has the "pre-cool" feature (which I love!) that will get the temperature right before adding the mix (I compare it to pre-heating an oven). Finally, the "keep cool" function REALLY comes in handy (if you have used the freezer bowl types, you know that time is of the essence once it is done!) I'm glad I went with this one. P.S. I HIGHLY recommend using Sweet Bliss containers to store your ice cream. They are the best I have found or seen anywhere for storage, and you can write on them w/ a Sharpie. Answer:	The answer that "ALL glass-double walled glasses/mugs do" is wrong because the question was "do these have a rubber plug" There are double walled all glass that are sealed with glass only. During the manufacturing they seal it with more glass. It's not perfectly smooth, but close. I think Bodum offers one with this type of seal over the manufacturing hole. I am sure others do as well. They will be more expensive for sure.

Question:	Does this one have automatic protection that turns off machine
Answer:	I don't know about overheat protection. I always turn it off. I have forgotten it once or twice, for an hour or so, and no problem. The water will not deplete by itself. You can see the water tank, and if it runs out, you will definitely hear it when making a coffee. I use distilled water and keep the tank full at all times as I use the machine 4-6 times a day.
Question:	What is the actual clearance in inches between filter and cup tray
Answer:	The distance is 3" from drip spouts when inserted for function, but I Used one 3 1/2" cup for Double Shot ( Tip it a fraction when function complete, as you view pic, the drip spouts are 1/3" ) ... This is an Excellent Machine! 0 Problems in 18 mos. since purchase! Hope answer makes since! Great Machine & White is hard to find!
