Answer:	The BCG820BKSXL Smart Grinder Pro differs from the BCG600SIL Dose Control in that the Smart Grinder is calibrated much more specifically towards espresso purposes, and while the Dose Control has espresso levels it does not share the same range for micro-adjustment as is often necessary to achieve higher end espresso results. Further internal and operational differences include functional differences in terms of programming, component and material upgrades, etc.
Question:	Just got this machine and every time I run it, it starts grinding, then slows down and makes a horrible knocking sound. Have to tear it apart..defect
Answer:	Mine did also when I first got it. I think there was a stone or some other defect in the coffee beans. I took off the top, removed the top burr and cleaned it. It has run fine since then. Removing the top and top burr is easy. If you have difficult with the instructions, there are plenty of videos showing how on youtube.

Answer:	To thoroughly remove any coffee oil residue, use a grinder cleaning product called, "Urnex" they also make a more "natural" version called, "Full Circle". They are cleaning tablets made just for burr coffee grinders. You just set the grinder to a medium to coarse setting, then add one capful of the tabs, grind them through, then use your brush to clean all the parts as usual. The tablets will sweep away any coffee grounds remaining inside the machine and absorb the leftover coffee oils that would become rancid if left behind. Hope this helps.

Answer:	I think this machine would work very nicely with the Rancilio Silvia. It produces a very fine grind all the way up to a very corse grind. So not only would it be great for your espresso it will also grind for drip coffee and press coffee as well.

Question:	I'm having trouble grinding anything finer than around a 7 - if I put it on a 4-6 (for espresso), the beans just pop around - what am I doing wrong
Answer:	Absolutely! I use it the same way, 30 grams at a time, I do not leave beans in the hopper, and you shouldn't if you want fresh beans. But, you have the option to leave them in, you'd just use the timer to have it stop at 30 grams. You'd have to play with it to get the timing right for stopping at 30 grams. It's much easier just to poor only what you need and grind it as you need it, not to mention keeping it fresh. Although the hopper does seal air tight and it's somewhat dark to keep light out, your better off storing them in an air tight container that doesn't let light in at all.I also like a coarser grind so I bumped the burr up one notch and use the highest setting, something I couldn't do on the other brand. It has a wide range of settings from fine to coarse. You will not be disappointed. Great source of information.Tip1: As mentioned in an earlier post, I put a cup under it to catch the grinds then dump them in my filter. You could slide the tray out and grind directly into the filter. Note: You'll notice some static at first, grinds floating up onto the control surface and sticking but this dissipated over time. Or it did once I started using a glass cup.Tip2: I push the grind button on and off for a second to clear out old grinds, dump the little bit that comes out (old grinds), then grind my 30 grams. This way you don't have the old that was still in the burr dumped in with your fresh grinds. This was a tip from a Seattle Coffee Gear video, another great youtube channel.Tip3: you only need a brush to clean it out from time to time, do NOT use rice like some people suggest on youtube. Answer:	Lots of people online say they do crack dry soybeans with this mill. I tend to only use the fine setting but it looks like it could be set to very course.

Answer:	Yes, the grain mill does fit and it works well on an older champion. I grind wheat and make my own bread with the champion.

Answer:	It did not work for me it was very difficult to take off and put on. I had the model listed you are asking about I emailed champion and I found out this one is for the newer model. I returned it.
Question:	Hi, is water tank removable
Answer:	That depends on the grain. Harder grains like wheat take a little longer. Millet or sorghum take less time. What I have found to be the best way to mill hard grains is to set the stones wide and just crack the grain first. Then I reset the stones to the setting I want my flour to be and run it through again. It takes about 1/2 the time to do it this way in my experience. If I set the stones narrow right off it can take up to 1/2 hour to mill 3-5# of grain. It's more work the way I've described, but if you're like me, time is money! :-)

Question:	When making a pourover, are there any plastics (on the brewer) that are coming in contact with hot water

Question:	is it ground and brew machine
Answer:	It is not easy to clean properly. I have had for 6 months and it stopped grinding. I called customer support which is excellent and they sent me a link with a video on how to clean the discharge shoot which has a 90 degree bend in it. It was clogged and prevented the coffee from dispensing. Must be a common problem if they have a video to send out. You have to really wiggle the wire end of the cleaning brush at the right spot to get the port unclogged. I used my shop vac, angled allen wrenches (which they suggest) and pushing from top and bottom finally got it unclogged. Love it when it works. Ordered those cleaning tablets and will use every two weeks. Will also clean out the port every two weeks. I use Black Rifle coffee which is delicious and has high oil content in the beans. Went 6 months with out a problem. The port clogging should be covered in the owner manual imho. Again - customer service was excellent.
Question:	The manual says unit will use all the water, but mine has a bit left in the reservoir after each brew. Is this normal
Answer:	I measure the beans with a coffee scoop before putting them in the grinder. Works fine, but if you are used to a timer, it may take awhile to get it down. The knob on the side can be turned a lot or a little. If you are unsure, put less beans in than you think you will need. I don't like leaving beans in the grinder. I've been very happy with my grinder. I bought the Precisio after returning the Encore as I do all different coffee preparations. I think the "timing" mechanisms are the same on both.
Question:	Why do the measurements equal five ounces per cup? It should be eight ounces per cup, right
Answer:	We can easily get espresso grinds at #4 where we like it. We use Peet’s Espresso Forte, and the results have bee consistently excellent for many years. The grind on this machine matches the grind we used to get in-store. We were surprised by the accuracy of the calibration. A #3 grind pulls a bit too slow, while a #6 pulls a bit faster than we like.

Answer:	The real question would be, can you adjust the amount of water used to make the espresso? I have a machine that I can adjust the amount of water and I make awesome coffee with it. I don't know if this machine can do that - but that is what you want to find. Since this machine will do a double shot . . I would put in enough grind for one shot, and use the double shot button . . that might make it close to a cup of coffee...

Answer:	While it would depend on how strong the finished product is and the quality of the beans to be ground, I would say yes, very easily. Since the grinding process is very quick, you could always grind more in a minute or two if you feel you don't have enough. Good Luck!
Question:	is this a conical burr grinder
Answer:	I have not yet had any issues with static electricity. It creates a lot less of a mess than other coffee grinders I have used. The cup is a bit tight to pull out from underneath the grinder though. Despite this I prefer this coffee make over the other comparable grinders I have used.

Answer:	Not sure what the question is but yes it does leak into the lid tray, which has to get emptied pretty often anyway we just clean it out every few times. I would like to know more on how these pods are recyclable. I read before buying it that they had some recyclable qualities, although I think it was a process but I’m willing to do what’s necessary to save our planet.
