The filtration unit is made of rust resistant 304 stainless steel. If the bolt turns black, you may think it's rust, but actually it is from coffee stains. This happens when you soak coffee in the container for a long time and the bolt becomes stained by coffee. It can be cleaned by soaking in acidic liquids (vinegar, lemon juice, etc.) for a while. The stain will fall off and the bolt will revert to a new look.

The screws are made of stainless steel materials which will not rust or loosen easily. Please tighten the screw to prevent the beaker from falling off after removing for cleaning. If the screw becomes loose, use a screwdriver to tighten it and then you can continue to use the french press.

Answer:	Well....I got 2 extra screens. from what I understand, you can use two at a time for a finer ground coffee. I love this french press better than a couple of others I have had.

Answer:	It does do an excellent job of keeping the resulting coffee warm but, you do not want to leave the coffee in the pot because it continues to brew and you will find that second cup of coffee bitter. Better to brew, serve a cup or two and pour the remaining brew in a stainless steel thermos (which has been preheated using hot water) for later consumption. We really like this French Press; it is our "go to" when we have the time to brew over our $2,300 Jura Impressa Automatic Coffee Machine... have had this for 8 years... great coffee but, not as good as a very good French Press like this.

Answer:	Holds 50oz. I use a 16 oz. mug but at 6 oz. cups = 8 cups

Answer:	Yes, but I would not recommend it. Better to heat, just before boiling (do not boil) your water in one of your stainless steel pots and then pour the water over the ground beans in the coffee maker. Let the coffee soak in the hot water for four minutes then slowly press. If you were to heat the water directly in the press then you won't have as much control to make sure the water is not boiled and you'll get a better cup of coffee if you pour the hot water over the ground coffee and not already have the coffee in there with water that's changing temperature. Also, you'll get better tasting coffee by putting the coffee in before the hot water as opposed to putting the grounds into a pot of hot water. Don't ask me why but it just turns out better that way.

Answer:	A good rule of thumb is: 1 TBSP of coffee for every 7 - 8 oz of water. I use about 6 heaping TBSP for a full 1.5L pot, and I find it gives me a very strong, full-flavored coffee. Use more coffee for a stronger brew, and less for a weaker brew. It all comes down to taste. It may take several pots to determine the best combination of water, coffee grounds and brew-time for you. I've been french-pressing for many years, and I still experiment from time to time with proportions.

Question:	Does the plunger go down far enough to use a single serving of coffee grounds to make a single serving of coffee
Answer:	I use a regular coffee cup to press the coffee into. However, first test the cup to make sure it's big enough! I have an extra giant mug that I press the coffee into and then add the water. But when I make my coffee for work, I have to use one of my regular mugs and then pour it into the thermal cup I use and then I add more hot water for regular coffee. I hope this answers your question and didn't confuse you!By the way, I have to turn mine upside down so the coffee doesn't filter our before I'm ready to press. The plunger is on the bottom and then when I'm ready to press, I turn it over on to the cup I'm going to use. I saw a barista do that and it made sense after I did it the way the Aeropress video...and it didn't work for me.
Question:	Any advice on how much coffee, water to use
Answer:	No. It's plastic so it doesn't show up on their screens. Most baristas will travel with it and I've never heard of anyone having problems. In fact check out #milehighaeropressclub on Instagram/twitter for baristas using it on airplanes.

Answer:	Hi, Connie. Every Aeropress is made almost entirely out of plastic. It is, however, BPA free.
Question:	How often does the filter need to be replaced
Answer:	I've been using the Aeropress for many years ("inverted" method), with a fine stainless steel mesh filter. The filter allows the oils to pass through. AFAIK, the benefit of an Aeropress , using the inverted method, is this: the hot water is in contact with the grounds for 15 seconds before being pressed out into your cup, which is long enough to get all the goodness of the ground beans, but not too long to extract the bitterness. (Inverted method (look it up on youtube): you put the 2 halves of the Aeropress together, turn it upside-down, pour in the grinds, add hot water, stir for 15 seconds, screw on the filter lid, turn the whole thing carefully over to the top of your cup, and press. Then fill your cup the rest of the way up with hot water. Enjoy!
